I was so happy watching Hennig at the end of that match. And my heart was made happy when the crowd gave a mammoth pop for the Perfectplex. The crowds I think would accept Hennig as a high midcard/low topcard kind of guy if the WWF could sign him and pushed him accordingly. I hope they do, because I always enjoy seeing him in the ring. He's one of the veterans I don't mind when they are around.

There, I feel better now.
I love Hennig, but wouldn't you rather see them pushing some young up&comer? There are many standing in line for some little push.. Perhaps Hennig vs Lance or something like that..that would be cool.
The real reason HBK has never made that much talked about comeback used to bounce out of synch with the other Nitro Girls.
I have two thoughts on that. 1. Depends on the young up and comer. If you mean would I rather see an RVD push than a Hennig push, yes I would. If you mean would I rather see a Palumbo or less egregiously a Hurricane push, no I wouldn't. I enjoy Hennig more than either of those guys.
2. No reason both things can't happen though. Put a youngster in a respect feud with Hennig, let them fight each other evenly for a while, and gain some respect of the younger guy. I'd love an RVD vs. Hennig feud personally. The old master vs. the young aerialist, it's, dare I say it...Perfect.
Hennig's a two-time IC champ from an era when getting that belt twice meant *SOMETHING*. I think he did a spectacular job last night, and looked like he belonged in the ring with HHH, Austin and Angle at the end there.
I'd love to see a RVD-Hennig feud, or a Hennig-Storm feud. The WWF should sign the guy.
And, speaking of guys they should sign, Dustin Rhodes looked damn good as Goldust, too. Really in shape. His character has a rub to give in the mid-card, too.

Agree.. Ofcourse the prospect getting the push should be someone who really deserves it. Perhaps Kurt can get into a feud with Shawn Stasiak? Who is more perfect? *blink*lol* Err..never mind.. I can see him hanging out with Kurt for a bit. (Though Kurt doesnt need him) Both have that same 'superior'attitude.

Meltzer says that Hennig will be at TV tonight, instead of at the XPW show he was supposed to go to. He also speculates that they wouldn't have made him look as good as they did if they weren't going to sign him. Again, that's speculation - but I sure hope it's true. They should sign Goldust too - I'd forgotten how good he is at playing that character, and he looked in good shape and performed very well last night. Just keep Val Venis on TV, damnit! Pleeeeease!
I am also a Hennig mark and want him to stay. I don't know about a Storm/Hennig feud though. They'd put on a great match but I like them both as heels and the WWF doesn't do heel vs. heel anymore.
Like Joe said Hennig held the IC title when it meant something, why not run with that as an angle, Hennig could do a shoot interview about it. Of course that would make it Regal vs. Hennig for now. Maybe Hennig could win it from Regal and then feud with Edge so that he'll be doing something useful for once.
Of course he DID eliminate Stone Cold, maybe a feud between the two of them until No Way Out? After all The Rock, Jericho, HHH, Angle, Stone Cold, Booker T, Undertaker can't all be involved in the main event at the next ppv, this could be Stone Cold's turn to take a lesser match.
Think about it they could have The Rock vs. Jericho one more time for the title. Then they could have Angle vs. HHH, possibly for the title shot at WM, then they could pair Booker up with RVD. So why not Stone Cold vs. Hennig after those?
As for Golddust, the Torch says the following happened:
Torch columnist Bruce Mitchell saw a broadcast of the Royal Rumble at a local bar. After the PPV ended, a segment came on with Goldust where he talked about being back in the WWF and having his eyes set on a particular competitor from his past. He quoted some movies, as he did when his gimmick debuted years ago. It gave the impression Goldust is back for good.
The Goldust segment apparently did not air on cable systems, but instead aired (perhaps unintentionally) on the satellite feed to bars. PWTorch.com reader Rick Kemp writes: I went and saw the Royal Rumble at a local establishment. Once the show was over there was a Goldust promo. I missed the first part of it as I was paying my tab. What I did catch he was talking about getting revenge on someone from his past and that person knew who he was then all the cliché lines. I haven't seen this mentioned in any reports. It left the impression he is back for the long haul.
That competitor? It could be Triple H (yeah right), or...I can't really remeber who else Golddust feuded with in the past. "A lot of guys on this team have a lot of bark, but no bite. Guys have to just shut up and play." -- WR Keyshawn Johnson, following the playoff loss to Philadelphia
welllllllllll.... if they signed him.......... then the least they can do is go out and get a natural wrestler like mr. perfect... it would be awesome to have him back... he did look good in the ring with the top wwf talent....
I AM THE BEST there is, was and ever will be!!!! Dont you wish that you were me??? no?.... i've got two words for ya!
Adding Hennig to the roster would be a good move in my opinion. He may be considered part of the older sect but he can still work a good match and could be used to raise the credibility of some of the newer talent in the WWF.
Where would I put him? I'd stick the IC title on the guy and see if he can give it back some of the credibility it has lost over the years. Then after a lot of "perfect posturing" send in the faces or heels. (A face Hennig? Might work, ya never know.) Hennig could also be a good second to another wrestler, but not Angle. I think he's doesn't need the help.
The only Goldust feuds I remember are Mero, Vader, Pillman, Razor Ramon and Roddy Piper, and none of them are still in the WWF, unless they are bringing back Hall just to feud with Goldust which i find highly unlikely.
Dustin Rhodes looked damn good as Goldust, too. Really in shape.
Dustin Runnels? In Shape? Whooo, that's a good one. Next thing you'll be telling us his dad's in shape too.
The only other Goldust feud I remember that hasn't been mentioned is Ahmed Johnson. Oh wait, didn't Marlena end up leaving him for Val Venis? Or was that something else?
I don't think they'd pair up perfect with Kurt considering they already kind of did that with Kurt and Backlund for a little bit. But I agree Perfect's role is manager - mentor - occasional wrestler. Maybe something with Jericho?

"Excuse me, do you have any EuroDisney T-Shirts?" January 2nd, 2002. Paris, France. My proudest moment.
He was sort of playing a face last night, and the crowd popped for all his trademark spots (and the kick ____ intro music).
I've bene a Henning mark for a LONG while (sense I watched that IC title match with him and Bret Hart) and have always been a mark for him. The thing is though, he actually did play a solid face in the WWF once, and also in WCW.
But alas, we can summerize this whole disscussion with this;
Here's the REAL question, though, since I missed the PPV.
Did Hennig, before hitting the PerfectPlex, do the coolest signal for a finisher ever?
"And now you're gonna see...a PERFECTPLEX!"
One of the things that made him so cool back in his heyday.

I definitely think Hennig could play a face these days. He's cocky and brash, which seems to work just fine for the Rock. He's got the happy haze of nostalgia about him which always helps make a guy liked. I could see him doing feuds against any of the heels in the WWF. I'd love to see him vs. Angle for a bit..."you may be a gold medalist, but you'll never be Perfect."
