These guys take U2, Radiohead, Coldplay and a bit of the Cure and make it their own thing. And they do it really well!
It's a small group (a drummer, a keyboard player and the singer) who manage to sound really big.
ALL the song melodies are absolutely brilliant, the compositions and other arrangements are exceptional.
The best thing about this album (and the thing that usually really sells a band for me) is that at first it caught my attention but wasn't impressing the hell out of me. "Hopes and Fears" really grew on me and it wasn't that hard, it's an easy album to put on and listen too all the way through.
Go out and buy this album NOW! (and then get ready for Velvet Revolver)
The backlash against Metallica started during the Napster days. The music has become, old and tired. Or maybe that is what has happened to their core audeince. Maybe they got older, and more tired. Album sales have been...so-so....
