Will somebody PLEASE STOP THE MADNESS. Why does everbody have such a colossal hard-on for O'Haire? WHY?! He's a BAD WORKER. He can't talk to save his life. He's a freaking giant, and yet Vince STILL hasn't pushed him. What does that tell you? HE FUCKING SUCKS. DROP IT.

And you accuse Spiff of getting riled up over inconsequential things and taking stuff personally? Oh, you mean over something silly and trivial like wrestling, not a wrestling message board. Cause that's important.

Is this the same Randy Orton that Kanyon almost immediately praised in his online commentary and exonerated from blame? Or some mirror-universe Randy Orton who was twirling his handlebar moustache whilst dropping a big ACME anvil onto Kanyon's knee?

Ha! No, I mean it

OSH, you trot out this argument every six months or so, you and all the rest of the wanna-be devil's advocates on this board. Things are getting better? Who the fuck is still on top? Who was on top a year ago, when the product sucked dick, and who's on top now? Who will continue to be on top?

So we should be happy because the Benoit and Eddie carrots are being dangled in front of our faces? What, in the recent history of this company, gives you the optimism to think that things will get better? Seriously. Do you really think they're going over in the end? Getting anything more than maybe a MONTH long title reign between the two of them?

You give us this condescending "put on a happy face" speech EVERY time a punching bag is lined up for HHH. Every time. And then those posts go dormant after another guy gets buried. THEN you trot out the "Well, if you don't like it, just stop watching."

BULLSHIT. Go read the Royal Rumble thread again. Or read Jeb's column about it. Stop selectively picking your evidence. Are there more posts bitching about Randy Orton and HHH? Probably. Do people tend to focus more on the negative? Definitely. But we give props when we like stuff, maybe not as much as you'd like, but you know what? Too mother fucking bad.

I weep for the lost innocence.

Bring on the ridicule. This kind of post always asks for it, right?

I'll bring it. I like your posts, when you're not acting like a pompous ass. I'm happy for you that they're pushing the guys that you like. Keep clapping your fins when Vince throws you a fucking fish.

But I don't think that's really why you're bitching. You're acting contrary just to be an ass. Fuck it if you don't like who people are bitching about. Go flip on RAW and squeeze one off during the next Evolution beatdown.

I'm sorry, last time I checked this board existed to for people to express opinions on the product, whether postive or negative. I'm sorry that I don't latch onto every big thing shoved down our throat as opposed to people who genuinely appeal to me. Bad worker? From what I've seen, he's no worse than Randy. Actually, he's better. Believe it or not, just because Vince isn't pushing someone doesn't mean its automatically their fault or that they suck. Its pretty well known Vince has his biases and that that the business is filled with politicking.

Wow, so its gotten to the point where any single complaint about anything is suddenly deemed from the anti-smarts as all-around and hopeless negativity? Just because I chose to like who *I* like rather than who Vince tells me to like doesn't mean that I hate the product. I though this thread was about Kanyon/released workers. Where the hell was anyone complaining about the PPV ME scene? Good to know you can read the mind of anyone who doesn't enjoy every last thing about the WWE the way you do.

    None?

Ok, then start one. Infact, maybe start a message board dedicated to nothing but prasing and positivity with rules against any negativity. You might enjoy it better. Although, you are complaining about us, which isn't any better,

Ahh shit, it's you.

"And you accuse Spiff of getting riled up over inconsequential things and taking stuff personally? Oh, you mean over something silly and trivial like wrestling, not a wrestling message board. Cause that's important."

A pet peeve of mine is seeing supposedly intelligent people acting like total tits. Weird, I know. It's not just on messageboards, either, I'll have you know.

Why is this acting like a pompous ass? Because I point out that sitting here yammering on about "fuck Vince, fuck Steph, fuck WWE" is just all pointless bullshit?

"You give us this condescending "put on a happy face" speech EVERY time a punching bag is lined up for HHH."

Never once did I mention HHH in my posts in this thread. I loathe him just as much as you do, and so on and so forth. Yeah, he's an ass who takes what he wants and fucks over everyone. But no-one was moaning about him Monday night, friend. No-one's been moaning about him in this thread.

"Getting anything more than maybe a MONTH long title reign between the two of them?"

Triple H sucks. Yes, he does. He fucking sucks. I hate him just as much as you. And yeah, he's at the top of the card. But-and here's the kicker-if we're as smart as we say we are-Hell, HALF as smart-why the Hell does it matter that he's at the top of the card? Why do we care? Why do we need to see the people we like holding a fake title belt? Why aren't we happy just watching them wrestle? Benoit's happy where he is. Eddie too, I'd wager. They've got good opponents, their jobs are secure, and they're earning decent coin. So why do we give a shit who's walking aorund with a piece of tin aorund their waist?

Because we are marks. We are marks who just happen to mark out for different things. Why does it matter? Why? They get a month-long title reign. Big whoop. They're now former world champions, they're up there, and then we can go back to enjoying them tearing up the midcard.

And I tend to switch to shouty language because, unfortunately, that's the only way people start listening. Fact of life.

"Kkeep clapping your fins when Vince throws you a fucking fish. But I don't think that's really why you're bitching. You're acting contrary just to be an ass. Fuck it if you don't like who people are bitching about. Go flip on RAW and squeeze one off during the next Evolution beatdown. "

Good ridicule. Although in all seriousness, I'm not acting contrary just to be an ass. I'm dead serious when I say that all this negativity is getting draining. If there is, as you posit, no hope, if there nothing left, no reason to think anything will go right ever again, then that old question floats back to the surface: Why watch? I'm hoping right now, I'm hoping Eddie walks out of Sunday as WWE Champion and has a kick-ass defence against Angle at WrestleMania. I'm hoping that Benoit gets at least a token reign out of his run at the top. But to you, if this is just a carrot being dangled, if you're so damn sure of it...then Hell, yeah, I'll ask again: Why watch?

EDIT:

"And I'm sorry that being on a board with people who don't share your every last positive opinion has been such a miserable time for you."

No, being on a board where everyone else is miserable is making me miserable. Godammit, people, I LIKE this place. But when a thread about Kanyon being released gets more traffic than anything even remotely positive from the past month-especially given the arguable improvements being made-well....like I said, it's draining.

Self-righteousness, baby. Worst thing in the world. For EVERYONE. Wrestling, it's a release for me. I like watching it, I like to be entertained. yes, I like to focus on the positive. Doesn't mean I don't see negatives-Hell, I see a lot of 'em. But I like wrestling, on the whole. And I also like to talk about it, particularly here, with a group of people who's opinions I actually respect. This isn't bullshit, before someone calls me on it. But when all the opinions begin to boil down to finding the next point to villify WWE for, it just guts the whole experience for me.

Hey, when things suck, they suck. Like I've said, Trips sucks. Big-time. I don't like the way that Shawn's been inserted into the main event, but I like the way they've done it. I don't particularly like the fact that Kanyon's been released, but it's not going to ruin my day, or even the next time I watch WWE programming. I like Chris Bneoit, but I recognise that he has-in the eyes of Vince-limitations that are holding him back. I HATE HATE HATE Matt Morgan. Christ, why is all this so hard to grasp here? Why does me disagreeing-strongly, I admit-mean I'm being contrary, or I'm acting pompous? If Spiff can tell Vince and Steph to go fuck themselves, why can't I be the same without being ostracised? More to the point, why can't some people divorce these people they see on television from this burning hatred? Seirously, I just can't...grasp it any more.

This board exists primarily for me to have fun, and secondarily for other people to have fun so long as it doesn't conflict with my fun. This Wrestling board is probably the least fun board on The W. But oldschoolhero, in this thread, is kinda fun.

Just as an aside, I'm toying with the idea of adding a subroutine to place the words "the incredibly overrated" immediately in front of every gratuitous mention of Sean O'Haire because of late it HAS been getting that bad around here about him.

Stop crying for Kanyon. He made more money in the past two years for basically doing nothing than 95% of this board does. Who's to say he didnt ask for a release or declined an offer, so that he could do whatever he liked?

OSH hit the nail on the head. If you work rate monkeys would stop bitching and complaining about every single thing the company does, maybe you could enjoy the product a bit more.

Stop reading the internet, that would be a GREAT start. If you didnt know all the inside shit you know, you may just enjoy things, and look at them from a new prospective. Either way, dont cry for Kanyon. He had his shot, he didnt do much with it.

Only one reason. Because when someone's the champ, the show revolves around them. That means I get to see more of guys I like.

Dude, if that happens, the first two rounds are on me. Here's what I really want. Not to see the guys I like go over, although I want that too. What I REALLY want is for the heel to get his comeuppance. Not just for two months, then get his job back. I want some comeuppance. Some finality, so I can mark out. I don't know for sure, but I'd wager that's why people are tuning out. We keep getting teased with this eternal promise of HHH getting built up as this big heel and he gets built up and built up, but supposedly that's a good thing because heels draw money and people pay to watch the title chase. Well they've done that with HHH. Everybody hates him. Everyone.

But we're getting robbed. Because there is never any payoff. There are little temporary ones and then things shift back to the way they always were.

You can't please all of the people all of the time....PERIOD.

Chances are we'd be having this discussion if Orlando was let go and Kanyon had been kept on because someone SOMEWHERE would feel that HE was/is an up and coming young talent who deserved maybe just a little more time to show us fans what he's made of. Unfortunately...the WWE needs to find something NOW to draw people back into the show...that's why the huge Lesner push when he came on board...that's why the huge Orton push now. IMHO...this show runs on the talent of two or three guys...the Flair's and the Rock's and the Stone Cold Steve Austin's. YES...there needs to be more then just those few I mentioned but as long as there is at least one HUGE name...the ship floats. Without that one name...it starts to sink.

Right now there is no big name...period. HHH pisses too many people off to be that name...Rock's doing films...Foley's time is pretty much over in a wrestling capacity (unfortunately IMO...I luv him to death)...and SCSA is in such poor physical shape that he remains on the shows in name only and even that seems to be getting stale. Vince needs a superstar...Kanyon was not that guy.

Vince also knows...I would think...that names that have been with his company for a long time draw fans in...it shows stability where perhaps there really is none. Billy Gunn is a prime example of that. Now I'm not saying that having BG around AS A WRESTLER is doing anyone any good...he's been nothing but horrible since his return...but the name Billy Gunn is one that a surprising number of CASUAL fans can relate to...think DX popularity. The same can be said with Scott Steiner.

I'll be the first to admit that I know very little about the young guys that are flirting with the big time right now but sometimes...you just gotta cut some weight. Whether you like him or not...Vince has been doing this a VERY long time and I have to give the guy credit for floating this ship for over 20 years...asshole that he is not with standing. If a young guy is getting hurt and not able to come back/fit in in any REASONABLE capacity...then why keep him on?? There are literally HUNDREDS of guys...who are HEALTHY...who would be willing to step in at any time. And there are dozens of guys ALREADY ON THE ROSTER who have PROVEN that they are able to draw fans AND wrestle a good show that need to be considered as well.

This happens in every sport...hockey is having the same difficulty...there is no Gretzky...no Lemeuix (sp)...and the young talent (as good as it is) is just not holding people's attention...now they're changing all the rules!!

Wrestling is taking a guy that is known (Randy Orton) and throwing their weight behind him in the hopes of having him be the next SUPERSTAR (which I personally disagree with but then I'm not an Orton fan *shrug*)...while continuing to hang onto the fanbases they have ALREADY BUILT for the vets like Scotty 2 Hotty, Bradshaw, Rikishi and Hardcore Holly.

Like it or lump it boys...I'm fairly certain it isn't going to change anytime soon

My 2 cents...but be gentle..I flame easily

Uh, What shot? The only time I can recall him wrestling on Smackdown, he delivered a fun match with Rey. I think the problem for me at least is that Kanyon DID do everything he possibly could've done with his "shot" and was rewarded with nothing. It's eerily similar to Dustin's release where it becomes a question of what more could the performer have done? I'm not too pissed about the the whole thing but I think it sort of sends a statement to the undercard guys that it doesn't matter how hard you work, you're probably not going to get pushed.

Eh, WWE wasn't about to do anything with Kanyon anyway. This release was inevitable.

Rather than complain, let's look forward to the potential fresh matchups this'll create in TNA and RoH. Give a match like Kanyon/AJ Styles 15 minutes and I'll be fine.

I will admit that this does give TNA fodder for the rumored "Disgruntled WWE relases" stable. I predict one more release before TNA debuts this idea. That release, as everyone else has said, is likely to be Sean O'Haire. Maybe TNA can pick up the dropped ball on his Devil's Advocate character. (Come on, OSH. Even you must admit that you were salivating over "I'm not telling you anything you don't already know" just like the rest of us. O'Haire may be a shitty wrestler, but his mic skills are far from the worst.)

Edge: So it shouldn't be long before I come back, since Smackdown's gonna need another main eventer.
Funaki: There's always Bob Holly.
Edge: HAHAHAHAHAHA!! What? You're serious? DUDE! How long have I been out???

Well, from what I read, he was told in a phone call from John Laurenitis (however you spell his frickin' name, I'm too lazy to check) that Jim Ross gave John his blessing to inform Kanyon of his release. On the positive side, at least he wasn't fired via FedEx... oops, wrong company. =)

Just my two cents: I'm not really a huge Kanyon fan, but he's never disappointed me when he wrestled. While he's probably not considered a hot commodity by a lot of fans, I'm sure he'll be picked up elsewhere very shortly.

Check the latest Raw thread - I called that Raw the most enjoyable one in a long time. I found the Flair/Benoit match very entertaining. I routinely praise Smackdown (although the last one wasn't too good).

And lest everyone think I'm "Mr. Workrate", among my favorites are Palumbo, Stamboli, and O'Haire. I like A-Train. Big Show has been impressing me since coming to SD. Cade/Jindrak are growing on me. I think Conway/Dupree should be pushed. I watched WCW up until the very end. Maybe it's because I was a WCW fan, and most of the guys who came over after the sale got buried, I dunno.

The thing is, they have arguably the most talented roster ever assembled by a wrestling company, and *Bradshaw* is one of the most protected guys on either roster. Don't give me feuds over shampoo or spilled coffee. Don't give me HBK signing a contract that wouldn't have his name mentioned anywhere in it, and have Bisch tell us "I can't do anything about it." Don't give me feuds over Playboy covers. Don't give me Al Wilson or Kane & necrophilhia. Don't give me Shane McMahon kicking Kane's ass. Don't give me Steph vs. Vince.

I realize the roster split somewhat hinders what can be done, but it doesn't help that they keep feeding everyone new to Bradshaw or Rikishi or Taker or the same guys that have been there for years. The tag scenes on both shows are screaming for new blood. Kanyon could have been put in a team. They had Spanky/London, but they frustrated Spanky so much that he asked to be released.

I'll be more than willing to hand out praise when it is warranted, but I'm not going to sit back and clap my hands like one of those monkey-playing-the-cymbols toys at everything they do. Suspension of disbelief is one thing, but sitting there like a lobotomy patient is another. Not reading the 'net isn't going to change that. Not reading the 'net isn't going to make me mark out for the Stinkface, or cheer for HHH as he kills another face, or enjoy Blandy Orton (yeah, that's a lame joke).

The title belt is not "fake". I hate when people say that. It's not exactly a championship per se, but it is an MVP award of sorts, or at least it used to be. Foley described it was equivalent to the best actor oscar. It's the highest accolade in the business, and it's something wrestlers shoot for. Are there guys in the locker room who don't care about it? Sure, but there are people in every line of work there is who are content just to do the bare minimum of what's required, get paid, and go home to parent their kids poorly. People who think and work that way are inferior to the those who, you know, give a shit. Whether it's a work or not is irrelevant. Maybe that's a mark attitude about it but I'm entitled. The belt means something to wrestling fans like me, because I don't consider wrestling to be just another thing on TV, or in any way lesser than "real" sports. As such, I like to see that "piece of tin" protected, and I feel it should be the reward for getting over, not a prop used as a means of getting someone over.

NYPD Blue was a great show when it first came on the scene. It took a nobody named David Caruso, and made him a star. He was rewarded for being a great actor and playing a great charector, with movie offers. Once he took the movie offers, he sucked balls. People realised it was the SHOW that made him, not the other way around. And, now, after about 7 years of toiling in bad movies, he is back on top, in CSI Miami.

A wrestlers career is much the same. He can be elevated and made famous by his personality, or by doing something really well. But, sometimes when they have to carry things on thier own, they dont do too well. Kevin Nash, over as a heel, did good in that role. Vince makes him a face, and puts the "real" title on him, and he cant make enough money for them, so they have to try another wrestler/actor, who people will be more inclined to watch, and buy merchendise of. But, later, make Nash into the founder of the Outsiders and WHAM! He's golden again! Its all in the role, and having the fans believe in it.
Did anybody CARE About Chris "Champaign" Kanyon? Or, really give a crap about him, except when he flew off the top of the Thunderdome? Not really. He did the best he could, but nobody really cared about him or liked him, on a large scale.
He missed how many months making crappy movies?
He came to WWE and lost COUNTLESS months to a freiking seperated shoulder and a staff infection. THEN, he
blows a knee out, or whatever the injury was, and is out again for an extended period of time. All the while still getting paid. He made a nice living doing nothing but rehabbing his injury.
Chris Kanyon is in his "going to be a movie star" phase. He needs to be out of the spotlight for a while, and if he really wants it, he can probably hook up with TNA and make a decent living, and maybe, just maybe make some money for the company, and be a star again.

Thank you for that image, headlock. MONEY SHOT TO ORTON!

I have unfortuanately never once seen Kanyon wrestle. But after reading this entire thread I have decided to give him every possible chance. Maybe someone else will give him a chance, and the WWE will get to see what they wasted.

This has turned into one of the best threads of all time...HANDS DOWN!! I haven't laughed this hard in years

" I like Chris Bneoit, but I recognise that he has-in the eyes of Vince-limitations that are holding him back. I HATE HATE HATE Matt Morgan...."

Where was everyone when I made my "I hate Matt Morgan thread"...all anyone did was stand up for the fat, chicken-legged, no-heat, no-moveset "buh gawd hoss" piece of shit..."oh he's young", "he has potential", "you need to give him a chance", "why are ranking on his body? , Chris Benoit is weird looking too" were some of the quotes to refute my argument

I think what people, at least I, get angry about sometimes is that I am stuck watching what VINCE likes, not us as fans...inept management has killed Disney (they are going to be bought out soon), yes I saw the 8K for WWE and they are doing well (they have good ratios and they have 270 mil in liquid M1) but you keep running with the same idea, which has been proven it doesn't work, and think people will come back has been proven not to work (Disney is the prime example of this)

I like some of the big guys (Mark Henry's new role has grown on me, TBS is great if they let him be funny (great timing), Lesnar, Batista, Kane) but it sucks when you see guys like "the overrated" Sean O'Haire (who before he was told to "hoss up" moved like a cat), Kanyon, Stevie Richards, the Hurricane, etc. be treated like garbage so stiffs like Orlando Jordan, Matt Morgan, Crapshaw, and Billy Gunn are given a shot

OSH, I am not too sure of this whole push of Benoit and Guerrero. I have been promised more than once that smaller guys who work great and get good pops (see Y2J, RVD, Booker T) get their chance to move up...then *POW* HHH, one of HHH's pals or one of Vince's favorites destroys them and leaves them for not...it sucks that I will see a guy who has busted his ass for every little thing he has gotten (Benoit) have to put over a generic hoss (Batista) yes I like him but they have not given him anything and a guy who uses as a finisher a weak ass diamond cutter and who looks like someone that Benoit would beat the shit out of in 5 seconds (Orton)

Don't get me started on HHH....I still can't believe with that body he is coming out with a workout book...I am more ripped than he is

Am I the only person who hope this kid signs into the NFL and Roy Williams and Parcells get to let that comment stew for the next 7 months?

It's just Kanyon, people! It's not like Eddie Guerrero was just let go. KANYON! He hasn't done anything! He's NEVER been over with the crowd. Sure, the IWC may have liked him in the Postively Kanyon run, but how long ago was that? It was always painfully embarrassing to watch when he'd yell "Who betta than Kanyon?" expecting a response and never getting one.

oldschoolhero rocks, by the way.

Please God...

...let it happen again
