Justin Verlander became the second Detroit Tiger to throw two no-hitters earlier this afternoon. This was also the second no-no thrown at SkyDome after David Stewart's for the Oakland A's in 1990.
Verlander faced the minimum number of batters - only one walk prevented a perfecto, but it was taken out in a double play.
So, the plan as of Friday was to go to the Jays game on Saturday afternoon with some pals who were in town for a visit. As we're having lunch, however, the girlfriend of one of the friends mentions that she's never been to the Royal Ontario Museum, so we all decide what the hell, we all see a lot of ballgames, let's check out the museum for a change of pace.
To summarize, NEVER EVER GO TO MUSEUMS
"It breaks your heart. It is designed to break your heart. The game begins in the spring, when everything else begins again, and it blossoms in the summer, filling the afternoons and evenings, and then as soon as the chill rains come, it stops and leaves you to face the fall alone." --- Bart Giamatti, on baseball

If Homer Simpson taught us anything, it's that good things don't end in -eum!
I guess we're well on our way to another season of about five or six no-hitters. And so far none of them have been against the Rays, which is pretty remarkable.

I think it's safe to say that Josh Beckett will dominate the future of pitching in the majors. He's only 23?! This kid is going to be untouchable, barring any injury or other unforeseen circumstance.
