Well, another Justice League is coming. Justice League International is kaput in The New 52, but joining Geoff Johns' hit Justice League title in 2013 will be a new title called Justice League of America (dccomics.com), by Geoff Johns and David Finch.
The new team is Steve Trevor, Martian Manhunter, Catwoman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern Baz, Stargirl, Hawkman, Katana, and Vibe. Wait, what? Vibe?! Whatever.
So, what've we got here? Three chicks, multi-ethnic (Arab-American Baz, Japanese Katana, and Latino Vibe), an alien, and a good bit of the color green.
Catwoman strikes me as a stranger addition than Vibe. When has Catwoman ever proven to be a team-player of any kind? And hasn't her appeal always been that she's towing the line between hero and cat burglar? Since when is that the kind of person the JLA is looking for?
And where's this team's speedster? If ever there was a place to introduce Jesse Quick, you'd think this would be it.
This is a pretty awful team. You've got Vibe to start, who was never really a good character idea. Catwoman and Steve Trevor, are both weird additions on their own, but they also both fill the same slot (non-powered human member) that Green Arrow is already filling with a higher-marquis name. Katana is, at best, a C-lister, and this poaches her outright from the Birds of Prey title (unless they're also cancelling that, which wouldn't surprise me).
The rest aren't bad characters, but I don't know that they're enough to anchor a team on. I already spoke to Green Arrow, and the Martian Manhunter is always awesome. Hawkman is Hawkman, who I consider to be a neutral addition to any Justice League, and the new Green Lantern is alright by virtue of being a Green Lantern, but as the new guy, I don't really know anything about him. Also, we already have four other Green Lanterns, so making more Green Lanterns seems counter-productive to me.
Dodged a bullet not getting it for a year. I like J'onn, Selina, Arrow and Hawkman. Yet, everyone else is weak sauce. It could be a surprise hit if they have a good enough writer like in the Blue Beetle/Booster Gold days, but I kinda doubt it. The league should be six to seven people tops.
The Wee Baby Sheamus.Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.

This book isn't Justice League. That series will continue with (presumably) the Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Cyborg, Aquaman lineup. Hal Jordan's status is up in the air with the current Third Army stuff about to happen in the Green Lantern books. But he'll probably be back in the League regardless if he has a ring.
Both JL and JLA will be written by Geoff Johns and I'm not a fan.
I don't know what affiliation Justice League will have with Justice League of America, but then Justice League International co-existed alongside the Justice League for a year so, who knows? No one at DC seems to think these details through all the way.
I can't believe it took me this long to realize half the heroes Johns picked for this JLA - Martian Manhunter, Stargirl, Hawkman, and Green Arrow - were all on Smallville.

Red Hood and the Outlaws sneaked up on me in the last 4 months to become one of my favorite titles of The New 52. I dig it. The uproar about hypersexualizing Starfire didn't bother me. Actually, that only made her more appealing.
