Hi I'm new here I was a FANATIC wrestler from the 96-99 years then I went of it and didn't watch it for nearly 5 years I'm kind of starting to live it again after waiting AL my old tapes, I was just wondering I was watching raw the other night and what the heck has happened where did the likes of DX go and even the rock, stone cold, Mick Foley. And what is the deal with the split shows it's crap, as I say Ive been watching it literally 2 weeks so have little idea whats going on could someone please fill me in a bit thanks.

Lets see, DX went there seperate ways for good in 2000 when Triple H didn't need them anymore and just stayed in the main event while X-Pac, Road Dogg and Billy Gunn went singles routes, the three former were all released over the last few years.

The Rock went to Hollywood and makes some rare appearences over the last couple of years, he should be back in time for the next WrestleMania.

Austin had what could very well be his last competitive match back at WretsleMania XIX in March 2003, he later became a co-GM and parted with WWE in April over contract disputes. Theres a strong chance he will be back before 'Mania.

Foley's active in ring career ended in April of 2000, he took some non-wrestler roles over the last few years including a Commissioner. Earlier this year he wrestled at WrestleMania XX in March and battled Randy Orton at Backlash in May. He made an on-screen appearence afew weeks ago and visited the troops in Iraq over Christmas. He is also scheduled to have a WrestleMania role, talks are going on about a possible Flair v. Foley match at the supercard.

Concerning the brand split, afer WWE aquired WCW in March 2001, WWE felt that they needed to create their own competition and elevate new stars. In April 2002 the split the roster, numerous trades have happened since and there is talk of a draft after 'Mania. Don't expect the rosters to be re-joining anytime soon.

Hope that helps ya out.

thanks very much that helped a lot it seems to of got worse the 90's where the best years so many new guys good to see taker still about, he looks weird now. It has been weird because I totally went of wrestling then I was at my friends house who watches it and I watched raw last night and it just made me want to watch it again, it is so entertaining, it has changed dramatically since then, I will just have to keep watching to see if I like it as much and Mania is always special and is coming up in march I think.

PS: I see your from Ireland I'm from just outside Belfast in Northern Ireland good to see another Irish person on the board.

Please...work on the grammar, the capital letters, the apostrophes, breaking up the compound sentence(s), "have/of," "you're/your," &c. before I get an erroneous impression of the Irish.

Correction CRZ, he's British. And no offence, but i hate when people say they were fanatics for a period of time, if you were such a fanatic then why did you give it up in the first place. I've been a fan of this business since 1994 and it's still going strong today, about 99% of the IWC hate most of what they see on TV today, while I like most of what i see today, there is way too much bitching about this business then apprecitaing, sure it is not be as good as afew years back but it still grips me.

Lets say.

1. I had family problems.

2. I started working night shift.

3. Had a kid

You just don't get time for these things but now I have a new job I have a little more time for these things.

I'm not quite fanatic, but I barely missed a WWE event from 96-99 I was a big fan.

I disagree, it's acceptable to be a fanatic for a certain period of time and then stop, mainly because in this instance, 96-00 was indeed the wrestling business' peak quality-wise and I can't argue with someone who got disinterested afterwards. I think your issue is with people who were bandwagon fans, and yeah, there's plenty overlapping, but I still feel there's a distinction between those who stop because everyone else did and those who stop because the quality deteriorated.

To tell you the truth, I have more of a problem with the people who stick around yet hate the product day in and day out. I know watching wrestling has become a habit for many people (including me), but if it ever got to the point where I just hated everything every week, or even disliked more of the program than I liked, I would stop watching. Why do that to myself when I can be enjoying something else?

First of all, many people have other things that enter their lives that take precedence over "wrestling", like: college, work, family, etc.

Many people watch wrestling because they are entertained by it. If they are no longer entertained by what they are seeing on tv, they stop watching!

Now this doesn't necessarily mean they will hate wrestling forever, but sometimes enough is enough and they just tune out until something rekindles their interest. For me personally, it was Hogan going heel, Austin vs McMahon and All Japan.

Just because you have watched uninterrupted for ten years straight doesn't make you a better fan than anyone else, possibly a masochist, but truly just someone who's really into it right now.

I don't think hardly any of the people that quit watching wrestling over the last 4 years or so read the dirt sheets or the internet, but just grew out of it or had other things in their lives take priority.

Thank you NickBockwinkelFan, what I'm trying to say other things in life have kept me back I'm 26 have a kid, work, have a wife, honestly if your not married you wouldn't know it's a lot tougher.

I usually find a lot of my friends watch wrestling, and over the years I don't think any of them have watched it straight, most people I know go through a patch were they go of it.

Ok, here is my advice. Turn your TV to Fox Sports at 4 pm on Friday. Yeah, I know, it's a crappy timeslot.

Then go to a website called rohwrestling.com
Wait for one of the sales. Buy four hours of fantastic, innovative *wrestling* for $12.50

Do a Google on "Johnny Devine" + "stabbed" + "Cena" to find out why I have vowed not to give the WWE any more of my money.

Thanks for your opinion guys, I guess i'm just a bit dillusional because over the last few years i've seen all of my friends jump off the wrestling bandwagon. There used to be about 20 people i knew who had an interest in it at some point now that is down to about 1 or 2, so i'm frustrated in some respects that i have less people to talk to it about and exchange opinions, unfortunatley these remaining fans aren't in the smart catagory and conversations can only go so far.
