Why? Jones Soda pulls off a Seahawks upset; Scrappy Seattle firm beats out Coke for soft-drink rights at Qwest Field Jones Soda, which currently has 21 flavors, will sell at least six flavors at Qwest Field, including a new cola, diet cola and lemon-lime drink at Seahawks games, van Stolk said. Qwest Field will be the only non-Coke or Pepsi NFL stadiium. Pretty cool if they can pull it off. -- The Guinness. to Cerebus Holy fuck shit motherfucker shit. Read comics. A couple points. 1. Jones Soda is advertising that their soft drinks are (and will continue to be) made with pure cane sugar instead of high fructose corn syrup. I've heard people say that the sugar makes for a better soda. 2. From the article I read: "A key in getting the deal, Van Stolk said, was a patent the company owns that allows Jones Soda to place individual photos on the labels of its bottles. This will allow Jones Soda to put different players or fans on plastic bottles inside Qwest Field and on glass bottles in supermarkets that carry Jones Soda, he said." Good for Jones Soda. It's something different at least, as opposed to the duopoly Coke and Pepsi have on the other 30 NFL stadiums.

I read somewhere once that the reason all of the soft drink makers switched from sugar to corn syrup in the 80's was because sugar prices had gone up and using corn syrup was cheaper. I hope Jones can stick with using sugar even if they blow up from this stadium deal.

Except for Lambeau Field, which is RC Cola territory. At least it has been in the past. I'm not finding anything on either Packers.com or the Lambeau website that confirms it's still the case.

I like this news. It's nice to see a smaller, local company (as opposed to a multinational mass) taking on this role. What I'd really like to see is Jones in restaurants now. I've seen FIVE movies so far this year: Because I Said So - (2*); Borat - (5*); Children Of Men - (4*); The Last Mimsy - (4*); Spiderman 3 - (4.5*)
