Just wondering if anyone else thinks the rosters of Raw and Smackdown will join together at some point this year.

The releases have got to be for a reason haven't they? And WWE is in no financial trouble at the moment so...

Plus ratings have been getting a spike with Goldberg/Lesnar on opposite shows ect.

I think this would be a bad idea as Triple H would be shoved down our throats TWICE a week but we do need new feuds.

My suggestions:
Edge and John Cena to Raw
Booker T and Ric Flair to Smackdown

Plus cruiserweights to Smackdown and all women to Raw except maybe 1 or 2.

This would give some good and fresh matches we haven't seen thousands of times:
Raw-
Triple H vs. Edge?
Chris Jericho vs. Edge and Christian?
Kane vs. Edge
Chris Benoit vs. Edge
Shawn Michaels vs. Edge
John Cena vs. The Rock!!
John Cena vs. Chris Jericho
John Cena vs. Randy Orton
Trish Stratus vs. Torrie Wilson
Stacy Keibler vs. Nidia

Smackdown-
Booker T vs. Eddie Guerrero
Kurt Angle vs. Booker T
Brock Lesnar vs. Booker T
The Undertaker vs. Booker T
Brock Lesnar vs. Ric Flair
Ric Flair vs. Kurt Angle
The Hurricane vs. Chavo Guerrero
The Hurricane vs. Tajiri and the Super-Villians!
Rey Mysterio vs. Spike Dudley

...and that's the bottom line cos jk sed so

No. The brand extension is working (relatively) well, and is giving wrestlers who wouldn't normally get the chance, a chance to shine. I don't see WWE giving up on this for a while.

I donít want the rosters to merge together. Some people canít watch both shows because they donít have cable and the story line would continue from Raw to Smackdown and some viewers would not fallow it. The same as it was in the days when the roster was together.

It's never going to happen. I think that the plan is to eventually run two ppv's per month, one for each brand.

Good god, if that is true, WWE better cut down the price...can you imagine? There are already almost too many PPVs the way it is, IMHO.

Good lord, are you trying to eviscerate the SD roster? Book & Flair don't make up for moving Cena to SD. You be taking yet another ME-level guy (2, actually, but Edge is rumored to go to Raw, anyway) away from SD, and replacing it with a guy who's been buried in the midcard (Book) and a guy *WAY* past his prime that shouldn't be wrestling full-time (Flair). And I like both of those guys. SD's top level faces would be Eddy and no one else.

And I'd prefer the rosters to be separate. Moving guys to the other roster once in a while is fine to freshen things up.

Also jk, why would you separate Evolution by putting Flair on Smackdown?

Exactly. I think if you're going to swap guys between shows, it should be RVD in Flair's place.

I think it's for if/when business picks up again so to speak. When WCW was still alive fans used to buy two PPV's a month.

Can business pick up without any real competition? Where is the incentive for the WWE to be innovative and fresh when they're already the lead dog by a wide margin?

Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.

Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

Just thinking Flair as a veteran would work will with younger wrestlers and help elevate the plus he wouldn't bitch about putting people over like Triple H, Goldberg, Brock Lesnar would.

Plus this gives a chance for Orton to shine. He is being overprotected by Evolution stable. He needs to have a long run on his own with the IC title. Maybe he attacks Flair causing Flair to leave. I mean Flair IS a true legend and Orton is the legend killer

Makes Sense.

As for Booker T he would be buried in the mid-card of Raw but I don't think so on Smackdown. A lot of guys such as Eddie and possibly Angle would be mid-carders on Raw but can main event on Smackdown because of the lack of Triple H, Shawn Michaels and backstage politics. So Book could have a chance at that championship

Let's not forget that the split brands gives the wresters that extra day off, which I would imagine they are in favor of. Unless I'm wrong and they added a house show in lieu of it.

If I recall correctly, Raw wrestlers work Friday through Monday, and Smackdown wrestlers work Saturday through Tuesday.

Well, increased revenues would probably be a good motivator.

For the longest time the problem wasn't that WWE didn't want to innovate...what business would actually have it as part of their philosophy that old and stagnant is the way to go? The problem was that they just didn't have any patience.

Even with Austin, Rock, Foley, and HHH, the genesis of all four into main event players took a year, at least. Hell, even Goldberg was a midcarder for the first nine months or so of his career. The problem through 2002 and part of 2003 was a lack of patience. Instead of biting the bullet, acknowledging that business was down, and building for down the line they kept looking for the quick fix - Hogan, NWO, shock value, whatever. Things have turned around lately, in large part due to the fact that they finally seem ready to let guys like Benoit, Guerrero, Cena, and Orton become main event stars rather than giving them one shot in a vacuum to be main event commodities and giving up on them the next day.

What was the initial point of this? Oh yeah...brand extension...

The only problem I see right now with the brand extension is the striking contrast in the depth of the two shows. Think of it is like this...Smackdown's No Way Out had Rikishi, Scotty, and the Bashams in a title match, and Nidia wrestling in one of the more heavily hyped matches on the card. On Raw, they can't find time to do anything with Rob Van Dam and Booker T. There needs to be some kind of storyline coup by Heyman that steals a handful of guys from Raw to balance things out. Foley firing La Resistance, Steiner, and Test back around Xmas would have been a perfect opportunity to move guys within the context of the storyline and even things out a bit.

Other than that, the split has worked. Ever since people stopped jumping every week like they were a year and a half ago, it's been pretty effective. And, as more than one person has already said, it is creating opportunities. Honestly, if the rosters were still together, does anyone think we'd see Eddie Guerrero as WWE champion today? Would they have invested the time it took to get John Cena over? A guy like Christian would almost certainly be toiling in Sunday Night Hell, and casual fans probably still would not have heard of Shelton Benjamin or Charlie Haas.

The split has accomplished what it was supposed to, and probably worked about as well as they could have expected given the quality of writing they've had over the past two or three years. If they blow their load now and re-merge the rosters, sure, we get two months of dream matches, but then what?
