Meltzer is saying that Swinger has signed a WWE contract. Is this forward thinking in preparation of the June ECW-themed PPV? Or is Swinger someone that could legitimately thrive or exist in the WWE?

Swinger is a guilty pleasure of mine. I've always liked him since I first saw him. He's a bit small, but he's got oodles of charisma and you can't help but dislike his character. I'm not sure he's right for OVW, as the guy CAN wrestle and he's too old for an extended stay in OVW.

So what does everyone think? Is there really a purpose to this signing? If they only wanted him for the PPV, they'd have given him a one-night deal.

This is the latest in a list of guys WWE has signed in the past few days. I never had a problem with Swinger, but I fear that a lot of these guys that are getting signed all at once will wind up in OVW and never see RAW or SmackDown.

Also, was I the only one who at first mistook 'Joe Dorgan' for 'Jim Duggan'? I thought that THAT was an interesting signing.

The answer to WWE's financial problems...

Never 'Wiener of the Day', and is actually quite bitter about it.

I don't think Swinger will ever be a top level guy. Hell, he wasn't that in ECW or TNA, so to suggest he'll make it that high in WWE would be unreasonable. That said, he could make half of a solid midcard tag team, which is what WWE sorely needs right now. I'm not familiar enough with guys in OVW to suggest a partner for him...perhaps Maven? That's a guy who doesn't have a whole lot of credibility as a single right now with how he's been used since his heel turn, but he could certainly be the mouthpiece of a heel team.

I would say put him with Nunzio and give them a New York Italians gimmick, but we all know that didn't work out the first time around.

I wonder if Pat "Simon Diamond" Kenney is still under a TNA contract. I wouldn't mind seeing Simon & Swinger once more.

One of TNA's worst moves was breaking up Simon & Swinger. I always saw them as one of the best modern-day tag teams and I feel that they had a lot of staying power. Breaking them up did nothing for either guy's career, so I'll second that they should get one more go as a team.

I say send Sylvain Grenier back to the gay bath house they found him in and team up Swinger with Conway....and quickly lose the "French Sympathizer" crap.

I don't understand how Johnny Swinger, the Marty Jannetty of the Swinger/Diamond tag team, can get signed without Simon. If the now Mr. Kenney is indeed under contract to TNA, then I can understand it. I just always thought that Diamond was the better member of the tag team.

Hell, maybe they are just punishing Dawn Marie. (She is still together with Diamond/Kenney, right?)

I listened to an interview with Pat Kenney a couple of months ago and he stated that they are no longer a couple, but remain friends.

I've always been baffled as to why Simon Diamond wasn't picked up, especially with the Dawn Marie connection.

With so many talented workers under WWE contracts with nothing to do, what's the point of signing another one just because he used to date Dawn Marie?

I always liked Swinger since I saw him on WCW Saturday night, but I don't expect anything out of him either.

I thought it would be interesting if WWE singed him in hopes of enticing Kenney to jump over as a solid tag team (with the aforementioned Dawn Marie actually being utilized) but that's pure speculation until some "newz" reporter says the same.

Diamond always seemed to fit the WWE profile. Handsome, smart, okay worker. He was one of the ECW guys I thought would easily translate over.

Oh well.

Diamond and Devon Storm are two of the most underutilized talents of the past decade (well, them and Tracy Smothers.)

I took the comments by HHH as just blowing himself up to look more important in the story. HHH was pretty much Shawn's stooge at that point, and had no power, except that he had Shawn's ear.
