Swinger is a guilty pleasure of mine. I've always liked him since I first saw him. He's a bit small, but he's got oodles of charisma and you can't help but dislike his character. I'm not sure he's right for OVW, as the guy CAN wrestle and he's too old for an extended stay in OVW.
So what does everyone think? Is there really a purpose to this signing? If they only wanted him for the PPV, they'd have given him a one-night deal.

Also, was I the only one who at first mistook 'Joe Dorgan' for 'Jim Duggan'? I thought that THAT was an interesting signing.

Hell, he wasn't that in ECW or TNA, so to suggest he'll make it that high in WWE would be unreasonable. That said, he could make half of a solid midcard tag team, which is what WWE sorely needs right now. I'm not familiar enough with guys in OVW to suggest a partner for him...perhaps Maven? That's a guy who doesn't have a whole lot of credibility as a single right now with how he's been used since his heel turn, but he could certainly be the mouthpiece of a heel team.

I wonder if Pat "Simon Diamond" Kenney is still under a TNA contract. I wouldn't mind seeing Simon & Swinger once more. | It's False

One of TNA's worst moves was breaking up Simon & Swinger. I always saw them as one of the best modern-day tag teams and I feel that they had a lot of staying power. Breaking them up did nothing for either guy's career, so I'll second that they should get one more go as a team.

If the now Mr. Kenney is indeed under contract to TNA, then I can understand it. I just always thought that Diamond was the better member of the tag team.
Hell, maybe they are just punishing Dawn Marie. (She is still together with Diamond/Kenney, right?)

With so many talented workers under WWE contracts with nothing to do, what's the point of signing another one just because he used to date Dawn Marie?

I thought it would be interesting if WWE singed him in hopes of enticing Kenney to jump over as a solid tag team (with the aforementioned Dawn Marie actually being utilized) but that's pure speculation until some "newz" reporter says the same.

Diamond always seemed to fit the WWE profile. Handsome, smart, okay worker. He was one of the ECW guys I thought would easily translate over.
Oh well.
Diamond and Devon Storm are two of the most underutilized talents of the past decade (well, them and Tracy Smothers.)
