SPOILERS AHOY!
The theme song SUCKS. Let me say that right off the bat. But Leblanc's character is exactly the same as it was on Friends (a good thing), the actress playing his sister has some spunk and his nephew is appropriately clueless for a Tribianni. I don't get having the only other female on the show be MARRIED, but even money says the guy turns out to be evil or cheating on her or something because the Law of Economy of Characters says that she HAS to be a love interest.
Joey, you've earned a stay of execution.

-Joey moves to LA because he's been offered two shows: A show about male nurses and an action show on cable. He chooses the action show. In Classic Joey Luck, his show never airs and Nurses becomes a huge hit. -In Subplot A, Joey's nephew (supersmart 20-year old rocket scientist) wants to live with Joey because he's 20 and living with his mom and other engineers make fun of him. Joey relents and his sister is angry, but decides that if Joey can accept change by moving from NY to LA, she can deal with her son moving in with him. -In Subplot B, we meet Joey's cute female neighbour who he flirts with. Turns out she's married, and the studio audience tells us we should feel bad with "Awwww" sound effects.

That was the reaction from the piewife and myself as well. We expected this show to be total crap, but decided to tape it and watch after we got our fill of the craptastic Big Brother 5. Joey has some promise. Might have to put into the tivo schedule (which arrives on Wednesday!! Woo hoo~!).

But one (stupid) question - are they ever going to explain why DiMatteo looks NOTHING like Joey's other "sisters"?

A few too many obvious boob jokes but the interaction between Joey and his sister looks good. I think he is still going to have a tough time up against "Survivor: Vanatu" but we'll keep taping.

I was sitting there saying the lines along with them on a first-run show. Drea DiMatteo is very easy to look at for 30 minutes (22 with commercials) Who wants to wager on when the first "Friend" does a special guest appearance? February sweeps? Which one will it be? I'd love to see Joey walk into a coffee shop and see Gunther or something. ("You look just like someone back in New York") You just know Janice will pop up. | OlFuzzyBastard

I heard that they don't want to have any crossovers this season, if they can help it. "Fraiser", for example, didn't even have Lilith show up until late in the second (or maybe early in the third) season.
If the ratings struggle, of course, all bets are off.

Seems like a pretty sweet apartment for an unemployed actor, but Friends had the same problem. Looking forward to the next episode.

Overall, not bad at all. It's obviously not 'first five years of Friends' good, but it's also not 'last two years of Friends' bad. Just a decent sitcom, but hey, that's a lot better than most of the other comedies on TV.

Did they establish how long she'd been in California? (I missed the first 10 minutes.) I could see her as a Cali'ed-up version of one of Joey's sisters.
I WAS left trying to figure out exactly how old she was supposed to be, though.
