So Friday night, I picked up the new Satriani CD, "Strange Beautiful Music". As you may or may not know, I'm a big Satch fan, so I'm quite biased towards his stuff. But holy F, he's just out-done himself this time. What an absolutely FAN-TASTIC CD. Satch, who IMHO is the best rock instrumental guitar player currently drawing breath on our planet, is able to keep re-inventing himself every single time he cuts a CD, and this time's no different, although he has gone back to his "rock roots" for this one, he still does it in a completely and amazingly innovative way.
EVERY SINGLE SONG on the CD is outstanding or better. I can't remember the last time I said that about any CD. If you are even the slightest fan of rock guitar, do yourself a favor and pick up this CD. It's already a huge crime that Joe hasn't won a Grammy award. If Joe doesn't win one for something on this album this time...well it's just unfathomable as far as I'm concerned. NOBODY is as good at rock instrumental than Satch, and this album proves it - again, and again, and again.
