from mtv.com/news:

Jimmy Fallon will open for the Strokes on six dates of the New York band's current tour, beginning November 22 in Boca Raton, Florida. Fallon's first album, The Bathroom Wall, was released in August.

Oh dear God NO. "Idiot Boyfriend" was, well... eh, but we don't need him opening for anyone.

I never thought I'd say this, but The Strokes deserve better.

Yeah, "Idiot Boyfriend" is one of the worst songs released this year.

Um, the music will probably only be a small part of the act, seeing how

a) Fallon only has five songs
b) Fallon is a comedian

He'll do a couple of songs, and then stand-up for the rest of his set. I like the old-school idea of having a standup comedian for you, actually.

Yeah, but at least get a good one. When I saw Frank Black at a club in Seattle several months ago, he had someone doing some weird stand-up/Bill Nye science trick schtick. He even included a glowing pickle. Uhh... okay... The show wasn't bad, but we had to leave early (dammit).

Goddammit I hate living in a cultural backwater which gets a cool concert maybe once every four months. I remember back when I could casually toss off a "I saw them in a club", but those days are long, long passed. *Sniff*[/oldmancomplaining]

I would kill to see Frank Black play a club without getting on a plane first.

(patpat)

It was when a shitload of bands were playing there, and when I also happened to be in the area to meet my brother's fiance. Garbage and Abandoned Pools were at another club that night.

That skit with Fallon in the radio station was alright last night.

For his stand-up routine, he's probably going to make fun of Christina Aguilera, and Moby.
