ESPN is reporting that the Jets have traded their two first rounders for the Bears #4 pick. So it looks like, if the draft pundants are right about the first three picks, that the Jets are looking for one of the top two DTs in the draft or possible Terrance Newman.

What I don't understand is that the article says the Jets really want one of the top 2 WR. Unfortunately, it looks like they go 2-3, so why bother trading up to 4?

That was my first though, but Looking at it, if they had wanted to pay first round money to a WR they would have resigned Coles. Taking a reciever now would amount to wasting two picks to maybe get a player who will in three years replace what you had. With this move they have assured themselves of getting one of the top 4 players. So now it is up to the Lions & Texans to decide if they want to trade down (Houston to Dallas @5, Dallas gets Dwayne Roberson and Houston gets even more picks and still most likely gets the reciever they want) or stay pat and take Rogers and Johnson.
I think this move means the Jets want Robertson or Kennedy and baring a surprise from Detroit are assured of getting one of them.

I'd just like to take this opportunity to place a Lost and Found request. If anyone has seen Bears GM Jerry Angelo's balls, will you please return them to Halas Hall? Because this was the most total lack of testicular fortitude I have seen in a long time. The Bears were so desperately afraid of their own ability to fuck up that pick they they retreated to the middle of the round where their failures won't be as glaring.

Don't the Bears need to fill enough holes that it makes sense to get more picks? I was listening to the Score at lunch today, and was surprised at the wrath Angelo is receiving for this.

By the way, according to www.profootballtalk.com, Jauron has won a power struggle with Angelo. This trade would seem to indicate that, since Jauron needs to win *NOW*, while Angelo can afford to wait.

If this was a management team that had shown consistent savvy and drafting ability, I would hail the move. However, knowing Bears management, the only hope they had not to foul up was to draft in that top-5 and go for defense. Now I thoroughly expect them to draft someone undersized for the secondary at 13, and then go for a slow, immobile QB who will bust horribly at 22.

And if Jauron wants to win now, wouldn't getting one impact player who might make a difference now be much more effective than 2 players who will most likely make no measureable impact on the team this year?

And oh yeah, from ESPN " The dearth of true first-rounders means, essentially, that franchises in the second half of the stanza are going to be paying first-round money for a lot of prospects with second-round grades. This is a draft where teams picking in the bottom of the round might be better served dealing their choice and gaining an additional second-rounder in the transaction. So what do the Bears do? They move to get more picks in this overpaid, underskilled tier!

I agree with sec19, the bears ahve a lot of holes to fill, and one pick aint gonna do it. They need some help at many places, so it is probably best to get two good rookies that can hopefully play right away.
