JCW just announced new competitors for their big 16 man tourney to be held at the South River Knights of Columbus, bringing the total number to 12 (4 spots left, DUH):
Reckless Youth (JCW/ECWA)
A.J. Styles (World Wrestling Allstars/NWA Wildside)
Scoot Andrews (ECWA/IPW-FL)
C.M. Punk (IWA Mid-South/3PW)
Dixie (Jersey All Pro Wrestling)
Dave Greco (JCW)
Billy Fives (IPW-FL)
Jason Rumble (NWA New England)
Insane Dragon (JCW/Jersey All Pro Wrestling)
Judas Young (JCW)
Damian Dragon (ICW-NY)
Colt Cabana (IWA Mid-South/3PW)
Youth, Styles, Punk, Dixie, Fives and Cabana are all really freakin' great. I encourage anyone on the east coast to check this show out. Anyone else into the indy shizznit?
Like I told my friend: "it's like going to a WWF show but 15 bucks cheaper and less insulting to one's intelligence"...
The only guys I've heard of up here in Green Bay (Go Pack Go, right CRZ?) are C.M. Punk and Colt Cabana.
Both men have worked in ACW (www.acwprowrestling.com), a top indy up here. (But I'm biased, being the technical director for their TV and/or home video.)
Punk is technically a member of Club Elite; the heel owner's faction. He worked Cabana earlier this year, and they did their trademark soda spot, which goes like this:
Punk claims to be "straight edge" (no drugs, alcohol or tobacco.) He has the Pepsi yin/yang logo tattooed on his shoulder...so naturally, Cabana comes out in a T-shirt with his name stenciled in the style of Coke's Dynamic Ribbon Device (that's actually their trademark. I couldn't make this stuff up.) Anyhoo, long story short...Cabana grabs a fan's Coke and mists Punk with it...who sells it like battery acid. Good cola war-esque stuff.
Oh, and they've torn the house down in other matches in feds all over the Midwest, so I hear.
FYI, for those of you wondering who this new, long-winded irritatating schmuck is...yep, I'm new here.
They could push him as a big singles guy, which I don't want to see, or they could dump him completely, which I'd also be against. I think he's coming along nicely and the crowd seems to like him (I've heard more than one "HOYT! HOYT! HOYT!
