Well he's been officially missing for TEN months now and apparently his friends believe he's either skipped the country or dead. Kevin Smith won't comment on his disappearance.

That was some odd news to end my day on.
with all his drug posession charges he has, i wouldn't be surprised if they find him in amsterdam, canada or monoco...

This sounds like a trailer for the next episode of "As the World Yawns". I'm not sure he had one genuinely amusing line or scene in any of the movies I'd seen, but I'm a card-carrying member of the Kevin Smith Is Overhyped Club. You want to talk underground, underappreciated genius, talk to me about John Cusack, will ya?
John Cusack unappreciated...sure I'll give you that one. But underground?! Has there been a more mainstream movie ever made than Serendipity? Didn't he costar with Crystal, Roberts and Zeta-Jones in America's Sweethearts? Is there anyone who doesn't know the scene with him and the boombox from Say Anything? Can anyone say they didn't worship his role as Lane Myer in Better Off Dead?! Well okay, maybe the last one not everyone knows ;)
Bears Forget NFL Games go 60 minutes: New Orleans 29, Chicago 23 Bears go to 2-1 (next at Buffalo) Congratulations to the Brisbane Lions for beating my Collingwood Magpies for the AFL Premiership...we'll get you next year though! Brisbane 10 15 75 Collingwood 9 12 66
Everybody damn sure should know Better Off Dead. Hell, I'm one of the very few who saw it in the theaters! I went the premiere weekend, and got the title song on vinyl. =)

I worship Lane Myer because he DOES IT WITH THE FRENCH GIRL.

Jubuki, you're an idiot. Thank you so much for contributing your negativity to what was a serious thread, it is quite appreciated. Of course you wouldn't find anything that Mewes said or did in any of Smith's movies amusing, you are in fact a "card-carrying member of the Kevin Smith is Overhyped Club". Give me a break. God forbid there is a talented director/writer that has a cult following. Overhyped? By who? I don't remember any of Smiths movies being smashes at the box office.

i love the movies, but i have The Rick's back when he says that the dialogue isn't that great. it is awkward at times, but Clerks still is in my top 10 fav movies.
mallrats is silly fun, i still can't watch the ending to Chasing Amy, and out of all his movies, it's the one i watch the least [seen it 3 times], dogma is GREAT [and i'm anti-religious, and still loved the premise] and Jay and silent bob is silly fun that only a diehard smith fan will like, because of all the in-jokes. most of those in-jokes are referencing his comics and on-line material.

Chasing Amy did pretty good at the box office.
I dug Mallrats a lot, and Chasing Amy and Clerks were pretty good, but with the last two it just seemed like wrote down all his deep revelations he had about whatever while smoking up in his basement, and then realized "hey, I'm a director. I can put all this stuff in a movie and people will actually listen to it! And I guess I'll have to make a halfhearted attempt to fit a plot and stuff in there somewhere too."
Dogma was straight out of a sophomore religious studies discussion group, and Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back can only be described as "Russo-esque," complete with on-screen smark-bashing/pandering. That movie was absolutely ridiculous.

Kevin Smith ain't got talent.

And by the way 'Chasing Amy' didn't lose money but it was by no means a blockbuster.
Oh and please Jubuki keep flaming Kevin Smith for the sake of your post count. And reminds us Hyatte isn't worth talking about while you're at it.
EDIT~! You say that now CRZ, but I wonder how you'd react if you started an Al Snow thread and someone just kept bashing Steve Blackman in it. =') eh?

I have a better idea, he can STOP doing that and you can STOP posting about the posting habits of other people. Then *everybody's* happy! (Except maybe you and Jubuki. But I can live with that.)
Kevin Smith isn't a talented director. He'd be the first to tell you that. However, talented directors whose opinions I DO respect a lot more than Chris Coey's disagree with me. I'd take Scorsese over Coey every day.
Hpwever, except for Mallrats (who made it all back in video), all of Smith's films profitted in the theaters.
