I suppose the WWE has never bother with people who have looked like trash before, noway. I suppose Angle does have that redfire momentum right now.
Who was that jobber he beat last Smackdown. In fact who are half the jobbers he's squashed on his way thru this 'Angle Invintational".
I did however get a chance to see a recent photo of Jannety and he looks good. Even if Angle goes over clean I hope for an extended stay.
Personal problems aside, Jannety was one of my favorites to watch throughout 89-96. On and off.

He'll probably surprise a cocky Angle and get some actual offense, and Angle will probably cheat to win.
As for the Iron Man match, it took Shawn over an hour to score a single pinfall over Bret Hart. So they'll probably play that element up and have Kurt try to beat that time. | Brian P. Dermody

What I *do* think would be awesome though, would be for Jannetty to show up at Wrestlemania and help Micheals beat Angle (which, since they have to keep the sides even, would mean that Taker beats Orton. I'm also perfectly fine with that).

WWE.com refers to that match as a 2-of-3 Falls Match, and it was billed a such. One of the falls involved a ladder is all.

If there is a four-week angle here, then it's either Angle marching through the first three weeks and running into a roadblock on week four, or it is Angle getting frustrated for four straight weeks leading into Wrestlemania.
If Jannetty is the first of four weeks of Angle trying to one-up HBK, what can we look for in following weeks? (Let me go ahead and dispense with the joke that you get Bret Hart to appear so that Angle can screw him too.) | Torchslasher

Now this right here is why Jannetty has no chance. For the record, this week Kurt Angle started the "I'll do more than Shawn" angle with his ladder match victory over the hometown hero. So if Jannetty IS just the second part of the Angle...um...angle, then this would not be the time to have Marty pull out a win.
I just can't believe there is this much love for Marty, with some of you stating that he was as good or better than Shawn. That's like saying that Kato was better than Pat Tanaka. Sheesh!

From the build-up he got on Raw by rubbing elbows with Shawn, I don't think we'll see a three-minute squash. He's still doomed to get the broken ankle treatment, but we're probably looking at a 5-10 minute match at this point. | Oliver

Is it correct to assume the Angle/Jannetty match for tonight's tapings won't be a part of the hometown challenge?

And that broken ankle (following yesterday's RAW Rocker reunion) gives the Shawn/Kurt match something more substantial than mere pride. Shawn's looking to avenge, and Kurt's looking to break the legs of both Rockers. The Kurt/Rockers feud would then make this not a match of guys from the same generation of wrestling, but guys from two different eras (post-Hogan vs. attitude). This makes the WM match similar to the Orton/Taker match: the cocky modern wrestler heel goes after face old-schoolers.

I taped Smackdown with use of the ancient instrument known as the VCR, and only had time tonight to watch the Jannetty/Angle match. I'll comment on the rest of the show later once I've watched it, but damn, Angle/Jannetty was a great match. RAW was a nice showing from Marty, but that wasn't so much him being great as all of us collectively being happy he's alive and still in good shape and competent at his craft.
We probably got carried away.
But this match was really an excellent match, all nostalgia and sentimentality aside. The chain-wrestling was better than any I've seen in months. Apart from some timing issues at a couple points, and a few weak elbows he threw, Marty worked better than just about any mid-level guy they've got on either roster, and in some cases, like Orton and JBL, far better than some top guys.
I mean, it wasn't a match of the year candidate, and I'm not saying Marty should get the world title or anything, but it was an excellent TV match.
MJ's worth keeping around simply to work with younger guys. He can teach them more than any agent because as valuable as that advice surely is, Marty can actually still do this shit. Cena and Haas especially have huge potential to learn from him, and probably a lot of others I'm forgetting.
