So "Marty Jannetty" is supposed to face Kurt Angle on next week's Smackdown. I'm wondering if this will be a jobber in ribbons, or another midget joke, or what. I hope the real, true Marty Jannetty is there.
Just for curiosity's sake, I went and looked at Jannetty's official site awhile ago and it has been closed permanently, it says. Maybe he is going to have a WWE.com page...or maybe he didn't pay his ISP bill, LOL.

EDIT: This from wwe.com:

This coming Thursday, Angle will meet Shawn’s former friend and tag team partner Marty Jannetty – the same man who defeated Michaels for the Intercontinental Championship in 1993. According to Angle, this match will be a preview of he and Shawn’s WrestleMania encounter.

Angle only hopes that Michaels is watching SmackDown! next Thursday, so he can find out exactly what to expect on April 3rd.

“I certainly hope Jannetty’s prepared,” continued Angle, “because he’s gonna find out first hand what it feels like to have a broken ankle after he wrestles me. And after I beat up Shawn’s former tag team partner, who basically taught him everything he knows, that will be another step in my one-month conquest. It’ll also prove that I dominate Shawn Michaels, and by the time Mania comes around, he will be so nervous and psyched out – because not only am I a great athlete, I also know how to psyche out an opponent – that Shawn Michaels will be shaking in his shoes at WrestleMania.”

I have this dread fear that Angle's going to try to throw Marty through some type of glass. But then Angle will revert to the King of the Ring fiasco with Shane and only succeed in bouncing Marty off the glass repeatedly.

Which, by the way Cole was making it out to be another of the Invitational deals, would mean Marty ends up being the one to take Kurt's medal. Which would rule in about a thousand different ways

According to WWE.com, Smackdown will be in Savannah, GA next week, which I'm assuming is somewhere near Jannetty's billed hometown of Columbus, Georgia.

I just hope Jannetty's in good shape and doesn't look like trash.
Could this open up another quick/last run for Jannetty in WWE?

It would be kinda cool if HBK was AT SD and helped Jannetty win the medal.

I would hope for a HBK run in and Rockers reunion but that is unlikely as it would ruin Angle's momentum for the following weeks challenge. WWE wouldn't bother with Janetty if he looked like trash, no way. I predict a clean Angle win.

Well Columbus is a little bit closer to Atlanta than Savannah. But I've heard him announced from both. Speaking of which though, I recently worked a battle royal on a show with Marty, and he looks amazing these days. He wrestles the best I've seen him work in about 10 yrs.

Thats the best news I've had in years. This might sound daft, but the fact that he isn't dead and is looking good is great.

When I was a kid, the Rockers were my favorite tag team, and Jannetty was my favorite of the pair. I'm looking forward to this match.

Let's go Marty! I doubt a Rockers reunion is in the works (since unfortunately, most casual viewers probably don't know who Marty Jannetty is anymore, and HBK's been a main-eventer for years), but if he could distinguish himself enough to get a permanent spot on the roster, that'd be sweet.

Did you see that hobo Angle fought this week? No really, what bus stop did they find that guy at?

A full time spot on the roster is doubtful, though I really wouldn't be surprised at A) and agent position "tag teams, cruisers" or B) be a trainer at the new developmental in GA.

Remember Shawn saved Marty from suicide...

Just another little W thread.

So it could just be Shawn getting his good buddy work again. You never know with WWE anymore.

Why all this hope of Jannetty getting a regular spot?
What's wrong with showing up, getting killed and leaving again?

Nostalgia is cool, but I prefer seeing Angle trash him, then moving on to I dunno..some joke version of the iron man match (Anvil anyone?) than having to deal with Marty putting up a fight and somehow staying on the roster.

After all, this is the federation that doesn't use the young guys properly, don't give Cruiserweights their time, yadda yadda, remember? WHy add someone (as old) like Jannetty to the roster?

*sigh* Why bother?

On the tv shows they don't use young guys properly, as for in their developmentals, they usually know what they are doing. A spot for him in the GA farm leauge, especially since he lives close enough to where it wouldnt be much for him to relocate isn't out of the question if he looks like he can keep a good job up.

Janetty toured the UK last year, and looked better than he did in 1993. Still got great pace, bumps well, but now has the added benefits of maturity and not being coked out of his mind.

Uh yeah but he's a nobody, Janetty actually was a WWE employee for many years and is being built up as a credible challenge for Angle, so him showing up like trash does nothing for Janetty or Angle.

I can't imagine this would be more than a one-time appearance for Jannetty. Didn't the guy burn his bridges during his last WWE run? I may be remembering that wrong, though....

I thought Michael McGillicutty was the worst ring name I'd ever heard until I heard Curtis Axel. Poor Joe Hennig just can't catch a break in the name department.
