He wasn't ready for the pressure of being the #1 draft pick and trying to be the man to lead the new Cleveland Browns franchise. Third string quarterback for the Jaguars behind the immensely talented Bryon Leftwich is less pressure. I did some quick research, by the way, and instead of picking Couch in '99, the Browns could have had Donovan McNabb, Edgerrin James, Ricky Williams, Torry Holt, Champ Bailey, David Boston, Chris McAllister or Daunte Culpepper. 7 out of the first 10 draft picks that year are former Pro Bowlers. I could go into even more detail about what a disappointment Couch was the first time around, but I actually want to see the guy succeed and don't feel it's necessary to bury him. Yet. | #3 Posted on 30.7.07 1654.41 | Instant Rating: 5.54 | Their regular third-stringer, Quinn Gray, is on the PUP list, so right now, Couch is really just a camp arm. However, Gray signed a $1.3 million tender in the off-season, so Couch would be a less expensive option.
