Well, the Jags DID make it through but I can't buy their hype just yet. This seemed a lot more like a "who can be awful less" kinda affair with each team taking up most of a half being awful and Jacksonville snapping out of it at just the right time. That last fumble really took the suspense out of it, didn't it? Woof. That Garrard guy, he's kind of a stud. Sorry, Ben - sorry, Justin!
Wow, David Garrard FTW. He single-handedly saved the Jags' season with that run at the end, even if he almost gave it away with those two picks.
But let's be honest here. Garrard tossed two picks after having three all season. The Steelers scored 19 unanswered points in the 4th quarter. The Steelers were ready to give the ball back on a 4th down in the red zone and the Jags committed a dumb penalty to give them a fresh set of downs. Receivers were dropping balls left and right. These guys are nowhere NEAR as confident now as they were going into this weekend. The Pats or Colts are SO eating these guys for breakfast next week.
Congrats for hanging on, though. Had the Jags given this one away, the loss would have been so tremendous, Jack Del Rio would have been fired and replaced with Norv Turner. It would have been that kind of loss.

"Wocka Wocka...who wants to hear a funny-ass joke?"
That mistake led to having to go for two after the next td. Both misses combined to cost the Steelers a chance from winning the game in overtime. Bad call.
This was the most microcosmic game I've ever witnessed, as all the Steelers' ills from this season resurfaced in a big way, from kickoff coverage to offensive line to, booyah, the defense giving up a game-losing drive after an invigorating Ben comeback for the fourth time this season -- including the same exact thing happening against Jax in the regular season game. Fuckin' writer's strike and its reruns. (If you want to see the ultimate in double-jinx, look no further.)
Oh well. That was uber-sucky but I'm happy we made the cool comeback and, more importantly, ruined D-Gar's #1 attribute of his great ability to throw non-interceptions. Existential crisis!

I'm not sure you're reading that right. When they attempted the first two-pointer, they were down by 5. Your chart says to go for it when down by 5.
I just want to plug the 2-pt charts at footballcommentary.com though. The guy there developed a model that figures out whether you chance of winning has increased or decreased through a certain action. It takes into account the amount of time left in the game, as well as the score differential.
His chart says with 12 minutes left trailing by 5, you should go for two if you think your odds of making it are better than 21%. The average NFL team makes 40% of their two point conversion attempts. The mistake was still going for two after the penalty. From 12-yards out, your odds of converting have to be below 21%, which means that kicking was the better option.
It didnt hurt that chick on LAST COMIC STANDING. Anyhow, trying to pass it off as a term of endearment? Please! I hope the entire student body and faculty will refer to her with it at every opportunity.
