Who would you like to see "step up" in the next year? I'm wondering who could or will have a more prominent role on TV, or go from jobber to mid-card, or mid-card to main eventer.

1)Eddie Guererro: He is already stepping up, and I think Eddie is prime for a world title angle in the coming year. IMHO he has better mic skills than our beloved Kurt Angle and is a better wrestler The Rock, he screams "push",and the cherry to top it all off is his acting skills.

2)Steven Richards: He is getting a nice little Heat push now and I think he will work up to a nice role on Raw. My question would be will he move up to an IC title fued or a mid-card jobber? I think he is ready to be moved up and has a wealth of charisma, they just need a good storyline and to tone down his characters comic tendencies a bit.

3)Mark Jindrak: I think he has alot of potential that has yet to shine through in WCW or the WWE, I don't think he's vanilla like some do. Though, he needs a some one to be his voice while his mic skills blossom. If he stays in a tag-team I think it will help him move up to the mid-card quicker through the exsposure him and Lance Cade will receive due to being one of the few Raw tag-teams.

4)John Cena: I think he would make a great long-term US title holder, he should hold it and fued with Benoit and Edge. I like the idea of him flirting with the world title and main event but they should hold off on pushing him so he can be seen as "huge threat" who can hold a title long term. It will create a "back story" for future fueds over the world title, like they did with Rock and Trips when they had a fued over the IC title and later the World title. Him and Eddie could have a awesome World title fued, It's the kind of match-up I would love to see Main Event WMXX1.

5)Goldust: he is used as filler to much, he would be a great IC title holder. You almost forget that he was in great fueds with Pillman and Hunter and a former IC belt holder. I think Richards and Goldust could have a nice IC fued, but like Richards they have to cut back on the comedy, the stuttering stuff is lame TV(I'm sure being tourettes(sic?) guy is funny at parties, but enough).

1) Eddy Guerrero. It couldn't be clearer that they've got something MAJOR here with Guerrero and they stumbled across it by accident. Hispanics love wrestling and they're a huge part of the population now and the rest of the wrestling fans are sheep so they saw the huge reaction to Eddy in El Paso and it'll probably carry over to New Orleans.

2) John Cena. Again, he's in touch with pop culture and he's got the passion for wrestling. He's got the cool hand sign, the music, the catchphrases. He's edgy, rebellious and is what it seems every white teenager wishes they could be.

3) Sean O'Haire. Just give him a shot on Smackdown at least. Give him a feud with someone of importance and let's see once and for all if he can hold his own.

4) Matt Hardy. No one has improved more this year then Matt Hardy. He was a spotty tag wrestler with horrible mic skills. Now he's a good singles wrestler with decent mic skills. He deserves to at least be in the mid to upper mix.

5) Steven Richards & Flower. They've got great chemsitry and Stevie's pretty good in the ring. Even if he was just used to give Flower a renewed push in the Women's Division it would be good. She could win the title and he could create some cheap looking title belt called the "Stevie Night Heat Championship".

i agree that eddie is the next guy to step up, but NEXT MIC SKILLS THAN ANGLE? give me a break! MAYBE you could argue he had better in ring skills because he has a bigger range of top-rope moves, but his mic skills consist of speaking spanish and then rating and raving. angle can do laugh out loud comedy, serious heal, serious face, mocking face. he is the all around package in term of mic skills. Also, i would like to see john cena step up this year. i think he is RIGHT there, just ready to get over the hump if he were to have a top-level fued (maybe this fued with eddie, if it goes several months can bring him up to near-main event status).

Eddie Guerrero and John Cena-See aforemention material. I mean the guy's so over with me I want to ride in the lowrider :D.

Edge-Ok, he is on hiatus with an injury but I feel that when he does return he can be a great Main Event Wrestler. His mic skills are fairly accomplished, he has some innovative offensive manuevers(namely his version of the Sharpshooter that's almost an anklelock) among other things.

As for the Eddie/Angle arguement of Microphone skills, his rants and raves are what make him unique. The story of his Grand mamie was just hilarious. I mean plus he can come off as a cool, conniving heel or he's a fiery latino man with pride. As far as Mic work is concearned, Angle rules..but he's no Rock(personal preference)

About the womens division on Raw. Gail Kim was turned too quickly and I think Victoria could make a good face push with some funny psycho stuff. And Ivory was good as a heel in '99 and good on the mike back then and should get a heel push to spice up the division a bit.

Sean O' Haire is the one to look out for in my opinion. He at least deserve some kind of program on Smackdown to take off. I was disappointed when the ''I'm not telling you anything you don't already know'' abrubly halted.

Eddy is certainly a great choice. I'd like to say RVD, but I honestly think the moment (late summer/early fall 01) with RVD has passed and I'm not sure it will ever be back. I'd love to see them do with Jericho what they did with Rock -- take all the stuff that made him a great heel and use it to make him an even better face. Then I'd love to see a face Jericho take down HHH. Cena, also, has shown a great ability to connect with the audience.

And while Eddy is very good on the mic, he's no Angle (and Angle, great as he is, is no Rock). I'm not sure Eddy will ever be able to deliver great heel Angle lines like "I refuse to be afraid of a man who wears a mask and big red jammies." Or, just before WMX7, "For God's sake, people, lose the cowboy hats. You're not 8 years old anymore."

While I agree with the Eddie Guererro love, I just don't think Vince is gonna pull the trigger on pushing him into the main anytime soon. The WWE fired him for his DUI and I don't think Vince is willing to put the focus on a piece of talent that he considered unreliable and bad PR not 2 years ago. Maybe a one-shot main-event against Angle...but that's all.

That makes good PR now as evidenced by the story that ran about Eddy a few days ago. WWE should be trumpeting him because he's a success story. It makes them look very good that they gave him chances in rehab, he screwed up again, they let him go and once he really straightened his life out, he got another chance. It's very good PR, IMO.

The beautiful thing about this thread, is a year from now, we will be having the same exact conversation, mentioning the very same names. Yet, it will still be the same 5 on top, one of which will be a wrestler.

Please, Eddie not as good as Angle? I suggest you take a look at some of his pre-United States stuff. He can play the funny face, (like with Tajiri) or the funny heel (see Los Guerreros), he can play the serious face (see current feud with Cena coming up) and he can play serious heel (see tapes of him in Mexico or even lWo angle). I actually think that Eddie is the better serious heel if they would just book him that way. Not only can he cut a great serious heel promo (see Eddie vs. Rock from a while ago) and can back it up in the ring too because he's a much better brawler. Plus he's got the best facial expressions in the business that look he gives any time he cheats is priceless.

Serves me for not getting Heat anymore. I also noticed Victoria tends to call him 'Boo'.

Frickin' Benoit is right ... no one, and I mean no one, deserves to wear the title more than he does ... I don't care how he wins or who he wins it from at this point, just let him have it damnit!!!

From RAW:

The time is right, in my mind, to turn Jericho, push him as a quasi-heel against Evolution (ideally with a DX-like group backing him, but I'll take it anyway I can get it). When he calls himself the `MVP of Raw', he's not far off. Jericho consistently has the best quality matches and has been able to get okay bouts out of anyone from Steiner to Test. He's hilarious, yet believable on the mic, and his Highlight Reel stuff, in my mind, is only prepping him for an eventual face turn.

From SmackDown:

I just finished watching the Rey Mysterio DVD, and it reminded me of what incredible potential he still has. Not only is his gimmick marketable (especially to the afforementioned Latino population), but his moves and crisp, incredible and believeable. Ideally, I'd like to see Rey in some more feuds against non-cruiserweights (someone like John Cena or Eddy Guerrero would be great) and see how well he can do when he's not weighed down with the cruiserweight stigma.

Spanky. Sad as wishing for this is only as far as it'll likely go. Why did they even bother signing him then?
O'Haire. Jeezus, he's got the 'look' doesn't he? (And I know I like it..er..eh hem.)
Rhyno. Could be an incredible monster heel.
Edge. If they don't they must be out of their minds.
Ultimo Dragon. Come on McMahon, pull your head out of your ass, even while "rusty" his work still is more impressive than most of the roster's. What do you want? Sigh.
Eddie Guerrero. The question is, why the hell not.

Sad that not much of the younger talent on Raw really do anything for me, but I suppose Lance Storm could be interesting as humor character. I always saw the ability for great comedy in him and I used to mark for the "If I can be serious for a minute".

And now for my list of stars to please "step down".
...Nah, better not.
