Nothing was on the tub on Friday so I decide to relive my childhood by watching the Muppet Christmas Show. God its good to know I'm still young enough to laugh at those crazy puppets. The best scene by far was Kermit's I wish I was never born rant.

The best part was the scene with Kermit and Triumph.

Also, the scene with Rizzo The Rat on Fear Factor was pretty funny.

Sadly, Crazy Harry had no lines.

I thought Sam The Eagle was bald. The hell.

Too much of Pepe, though.

Sam was bald...but as he said when Kermit wanted the actors to not get paid for a year to help the cause...

For some crazy reason my sister ordered the tapes... I think she may have not known that they came on DVDs. Anyways, we have them and they rock! Nothing like reliving the ole past. One of the best shows ever!

Sadly, I didn't get to catch all of the christmas special.

Correction, you can NEVER have too much Pepe. And Joan Cusack actually worked as the token Muppet evil villian. Awesome special, thank god I taped it. Now to go download some Muppet Show goodness on KaZaA. And hey, does anybody else remember the Muppet Show revival that showed on ABC a while back? I remember it being a bit crappy.

Oh yeah, Muppets rock.

When they revealed Miss Bitterman's evil plot, the first thing I thought was, "She's giving them an extra 18 hours?"

But, honestly, I still prefer "A Muppet Family Christmas." "De gobble-gobble HUMONGO!"

Ah yes, A Muppet Family Christmas, isn't that the one where they are snowed in at the granmother's house or something? Do you know if they are showing it on tv anywhere, or maybe a place where I could download it? I know YTV up here in Canada showed it last year.

The Muppet Family Christmas is right up there with Charlie Brown and the Grinch for me. (The real Grinch - not that abortion with Ace Ventura from two years ago). The Muppets were all headed to Fozzie's grandmother's cabin for Xmas - only Piggy was shooting a commercial somewhere and they wound up getting snowed in and seperated. And the Sesame Street Muppets were there, too, which led to a strange sub-plot where the Swedish Chef was planning to cook Big Bird for Christmas dinner.

I seem to recall they found a Fraggle Hole in the basement at one point - and they may have found a way to work the Muppet Babies into it as well. Too bad they never show it anymore.

"Of course the people don't want war ...but, after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine the policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament or a communist dictatorship ... voice or no voice, the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger."

They did work in the Muppet Babies - they showed some film on a projector of them singing a song. Jim Henson even made an appearance at the end washing dishes with Sprocket the dog.

I found it on VHS at Suncoast a couple of years ago. Unfortunately, there were a few parts edited out for some reason. Nothing really terrible, but when you've seen it as much as I have, it sticks out. It's a good thing I taped it off the TV years ago.

Muppets Tonight. It's biggest failing was trying to ditch like 90% of the original cast. That cat-fish whatever that was the host didn't hold a light to Kermit! I perfered the Jim Henson hour...mainly because it had "The Story Teller" which totally rocked!

I still laugh at Sam the Bald Eagle as a raver.

Did anyone notice the disturbing homophobic reference with Scooter in the rave party? He was shown dressed in hot pants dancing in a cage.

From the infamous Wrestleline SS interview:

DTD: If you were to make changes in WCW, if you were in charge and not Ric Flair, what would they be?

SS: I'd get rid of all the old guys, and push the talent that has waited to get the push. The things they are doing, it's back in the 1980s. It's just bad, man. Flair doesn't even deserve to be on the show. You've got to get rid of all the old guys. Like what Vince did, they started pushing guys. Nobody knew who The Rock was 2 years ago. He made The Rock. Now The Rock just did Saturday Night Live. You've got to start with the young talent, talent people can relate to. Who are we trying to relate to if we've got a 50 year old man out there? Are we trying to relate, so a 50 year people and above will go out and buy a f*cking little toy? That ain't gonna happen. It's a f*cking joke.

Does it remind you of any show in particular?

That would be Clifford, the "cool" Rasta-looking "homey made of foamy" - the Muppet version of Poochie. (Rule #1: Even if they're puppets, don't start the show by declaring that to the audience!)

I agree - Muppets Tonight! doesn't hold a candle to The Muppet Show (even if The Muppet Show was mostly filmed before I was born (!)).
