You don't have to be a good looking man to get over. I mean, it helps a lot, but it's not necessary.

I mean, Brock Lesnar's pretty over, and half the time he looks like some demented giant half-human, half-frogman baby. I mean, damn, the man occasionally looks like something that would be following you around in Silent Hill.

To everyone talking about Paul Bearer and the scars and the mental asylum:

If you bring up THOSE plot points, you have to bring up all the continuity problems with Taker, and then you have to address the Katie Vick bullshit and all the loopholes there. Face it, Kane is to wrestling what Hawkman is to comic books. They'd be a hell of a lot better off just unmasking the guy and calling him Glenn Jacobs than keeping the illusion of him being a hideously scarred freak.

A few people have already said it, but the "Kane has to LOSE to be unmasked" line pretty much telegraphed screw-job finish.

Yup..
Last time people were this speculative about what might happen next week, the consensus was that they did really well with the gay wedding angle.

I agree, there is a chance that their plan might suck big time, but heh..I always have a positive outlook and expect the best.

That's the really ironic part.....if they had declared Kane to be the victim of a horrible car crash that smashed his face instead of a burn victim, Glenn Jacobs could have had an unmasked career without a hitch

A dude has to be good looking to be a ladies man? Since when? When I have gone out to bars, parties or clubs I have seen tons of ugly dudes getting hot chicks....that is an interesting idea that could work, but doesnt Val Venis already have that schick

It would be interesting b/c you could have him and Randy Orton have some sort of dating game deal where a few girls can pick b/w him and Kane and have all the girls pick Kane. If written correctly, this would be a hilarious skit with Orton flipping out about being a stud and then Jacobs turning around saying "Yeah, but I am the one with the skills" or something like that

I think this doesn't sound like a bad idea.

Why do I think he will be just about to unmask, or win the belt, and out of nowhere...

I don't know. I really don't care to see Kane with the title (probably don't have too much to worry about there), but I also don't want to see him unmasked- even if I am very intrigued by watching it all go down. When HHH loses the title I want it to be to somebody that is going to take the ball and run with it, kinda like Bret Hart in '92 or Lesnar last year, and not just a part of Kane push #3752. 'Cause you know if Kane won the title he would just lose it back to HHH in a couple weeks. Kane as world champion just doesn't seem all that exciting to me. I guess this is one time I'll be hoping for a screwjob. If I could choose, Kane would go in the opposite direction to be more like the old Kane. He was so much more intimdating looking back in the day rahter than a dude in a tank top and half a mask. That mask they have him wearing now sucks, but I guess it serves its purpose of letting him talk more freely.

What it comes down to is that the writers have actaully done a damn fine job with this so far, and they should get some credit for once. How often are matches for next week's show set up that far in advance, let alone one where it gets everyone talking for the entire week preceeding it? Pretty damn rarely, and that's what WWE desperately needs to be doing. We'll just see if they go somewhee good with it, or if it just fizzles like the aftermath of the excellent Billy/Chuck wedding.

I figured I'd change my avatar for the week to help people prepare for what we might be seeing at 10:05 on Monday.

Sure, but my memory may be sketchy regarding the specifics:

Back in the Texas promotion (World Class?) that the Von Erich's wrestled in, they brought in a babyface introduced as Kerry and Kevin's cousin: Lance Von Erich. He had moderate success, but stopped appearing for whatever reason (fired?, lost his smile? etc). In the first televised show that Lance was scheduled to appear, Fritz Von Erich took the mic and explained he wasn't really related to the Von Erich's at all, and that he was just a performer. Since kayfabe was strictly adhered to at the time, it was pretty memorable.

I believe that Lance jumped from World Class to one of the other Dallas/Texas promotion. And then Fritz buried him on TV, similar to the way people (like Bill Watts) used to bury guys when they went to the WWF.

On the Kane matter, I agree with someone that was said elsewhere: he'll lose the match, lose his mask AND join Evolution, for the "shocking swerve," which Copernicus will still call predictable.

Damn... I think Val Venis and Edge are the brother-in-laws. I was watching WCW almost exclusively at this point. Anyway... welcome back, Big Gold Belt! I missed you! Let's hope after the inevitable unification, the Big Gold Belt stays and the... well....
