Welp, here comes the end of year 22 of my existence, and so far, this has been one of my worst birthdays ever. I'm flat broke, the closest family member is my asshole of a grandfather, and with very few friends, it appears that my birthday will be spent at home (I can't even afford to get drunk right now!).

So which birthdays have you rather put out of your minds?

1996. Turned 25. Spent it at sea sailing between Spain and Portland, Maine with 25 Polish guys who didn't speak a word of English, a crew of about 30 other guys, and only one girl.

Lame.

23. Got into a car wreck that was NOT my fault, but the officer declared it was no one's fault, and since I didn't have collision because the car was a cheap one, I just lost the car. Meh.

1997 - my 19th
Spiraling out of control in many important ways. Was hospitalized for my own good 4 days later. Homicidal psychosis. A dark moment in a long series of dark moments. I don't think anything good happened the whole time I was 19.

all of them, as they all mark the death of my twin sister, but my 19th in paticular because my aunt died that morning.

DDP: Well, there's this little passage I got memorized, Diamond Dallas 25:17. Sort of fits this occasion:

"The path of the bookerman is beset on all sides by the inequities of the talented, and the tyranny of workrate freaks. Blessed is he, who in the name of tradition and sports entertainment carries the stiffs through the matches of Nitro, for he is truly the workrate's keeper, and the finder of lost quality. And I will lay the smack down upon thee with great vengeance and furious roid rage those who attempt to outwrestle and expose my brothers. And you will know my name as the Bookerman, when I lay my catchphrase upon thee!"

The day after my 17th birthday, I hit 2 drunk assholes leaving a TB Bucs game; The first guys head splatted on my win shield and his friend flew 20 some-odd feet and died as well...

Happy Birthday though, hope it gets better!

The last two, my 24th and 25th respectively. 24th was my first one after ending a long-term relationship and ending up back in my folks house, as well as being the first major family event after a couple of deaths in the family. This year because i'm looking at my life and saying "good gravy have i wasted 25 good years!"

Mine pales in comparison to most of you guys....guess I've been blessed that all the cracked out stuff that has happened to me has happened outside of my birthday.

Worse one for me was my last one (turned 21) when an ex-girlfriend e-mailed me basiclly saying that I was responsible for her depression, suicidal tendancies, family problems, her health problems, and everything else wrong with her. Given that I treated her with more respect and loved her more than everyone else in her life COMBINED, I wasn't happy to hear all of that.

Since then she has asked for forgiveness though....which makes it all better.

22nd. I was in the hospital at the time. On the other hand, my 23rd was the best (but I'm not saying why...)

It seems to be a general trend that once you get into your 20s, birthdays start to suck. They at least are not what they use to be when you were younger. Some people will make a big deal out of 21 for you, but after that everyone seems to not give a crap about your birthday. I've had some pretty boring and uneventuful birthdays in my 20s--this year I actually I had ask that my family at least *try* to go somewhat out of their way to make it a nice day where they show they care. Part of my problem is my sisters birthday is the day before Halloween and 9 days before mine, so there is kind of a downtime there where my family is coming down from Halloween and thinking about Thanksgiving, but totally forgetting my birthday. It's good AND BAD having your birthday around the holidays.

But the problems listed here definately beat any of mine so far. A few in a row seem to have had horrible 19th birthdays in particular. Sorry to hear about all the tragedies.

Wow. That was some very depressing reading. Wow. I don't see it comparing with the rest of this, but on my 18th birthday (first day as a legal adult), I was arrested for (a small amount of ) marijuana possession, and later criminal impersonation was added to it.

I agree with what people are saying when you get over being 21, the fun is gone and you look around at your life and wonder how and why you got here. I think mid-life crisis starts to set in, but not fully. The worst birthday experience, I had was my 21st. I was home from Christmas break when my Aunt died and her viewing was that day. I even told my parents how creepy it was being my birthday and I was there that didn't sit well with them even though my aunt was a bit of a bitch. My friends from college made up for it though when we got back to classes by taking me drinking. It was a great time and perhaps the best birthday I ever had. So, you take the good with the bad, I guess.

I feel for you all of you out there though. Some of these are downright depressing and I hope you all have better ones.

A Fan- By the way, happy birthday.
