SO, besides Diva Search people they have only heel females now?

Props to both Divari and Hassan for monster bladejobs.

Big Vis continues to entertain.

Val Venis, how I have missed thee on the mic.

Nice finisher for Rosie and Hurricane.

And, has anybody else given thought that they might put the belt back on HHH, and have him get traded to Smackdown, allowing Cena to be drafted to Raw for a fued with Christian?

That was my favorite part of the show. I love Canadians.
It's almost as if the WWE knew this would happen and kept him out of the arena.

Victoria heel rules.

Guess they forgot Lita was in ECW before.

I'm glad a couple of you liked the Shelton photo, because maybe about 2% of the pictures I took were usable. I don't know if it's the limitations of the camera's flash, or my own ineptitude, but it's fairly disappointing. Some of the usable shots:

Harry Smith superkicks Teddy Hart

Simon Dean submits to the Walls of Jericho

Self-explanatory

Victoria unloads on...Maria, I think

Fly, Hurricane, fly

Jericho enters to interview Kane. It should be worth noting that Y2J cut a promo probably not shown on TV where he didn't feel the Calgary crowd didn't show him enough love when he came out for the Heat taping. Essentially trying to get the crowd to boo him. Instead, we gave him the applause and love he was looking for. He could do nothing but smile and laugh on his way out.

Edge & Lita

Benoit suplexes Edge

...and he does it again

Sadly, no "churning the butter" dance for Batista this time.

The Lovely Mrs. Tracker wasn't really paying much attention to Victoria as she has been in the dancing-face mode for sometime. But my missus LOVED seeing Victoria go ape last night, and I think there's a new Little Flower fan. I, myself, was glad as glad can be to see Crazy Victoria return. And dig the crowd cheering her until the end of the backstage promo.

Mrs. Tracker is aso officially freaked out that Chris Masters is a dead ringer for her younger brother.

The Davari/Hassan handicap matches SUCK. Shelton had problems and now Batsista. It looks like ring timing. Shelton couldn't get his moves cleanly (notice how much sharper his match was this week with La Resistance), and Batista was obviously trying to figure out where to go next when the opponents were in opposite corners. He looked big and strong out there, but he still has to bust out some new moves. We may chide Orton's premature ascension to the throne, but he showed more innovation once he got there. Batista, with only two matches on RAW since winning Bad Blood, is in the minimalist mode. And it's getting old quick.

I applaud the Benoit defeat only because Edge is in too good a groove right now to lose twice in a row. I hope they've ditched the "whining loser" gimmick for now, as they would kill the heel heat if Lita and Edge couldn't connive their way to wins. Speaking of that match, I'm OK with the RAW team for the ECW show, excpet for one guy. Who doesn't fit here: Edge, Tomko, Snitsky and Maven. Snitsky and Tomko will make for big tackling dummies, Edge will suffer chants like he's never heard before, and Maven will die a thousand deaths for the Hammerstein crowd. He's gonna get it bad.

The Kane writing works for me. He's so angry and hurt, he's stopped functioning. He's a stunned shark. And now we watch the slow burn (har!) until he cracks and goes wicky wicky wacky woo.

When Victoria turns heel by beating the crap out of the precious DivaCrapFest winner and gets some of the loudest cheers of the night, that might be a sign that Christy's little run should have ended a few months ago.
I guess the Snitsky killed Lita's baby angle is going to be forgotten.
Why do they insist on putting Benoit in garbage wrestling matches? He was one of the guys who had straight wrestling matches in ECW.
Funny how Hassan's Not Pinned on RAW streak has suddenly turned into a Not Lost on RAW streak. I guess they have forgotten the DQ loss to Benoit leading up to Mania.
Last night might have been the proper night to have had Flair turn on Batista. It probably is one of the few places in North America where Flair would actually get boo'ed, so the turn would have really worked.
If there is a human sacrafice at the ECW PPV, at least we know it will be Maven, thus no harm will come to any worthwhile member of society.
A Sandman vignette? Vince better be willing to pay for Metallica royalties for a night.
Good point of the night by Bischoff: Heyman blew over half a million of Vince's money yet never/rarely paid the wrestlers or his bills. Where did that money go?

So all three actual female wrestlers are now heel?

They're really running this Viscera thing into the ground. It was cute & humorous at first, but now it's just tired.

Tonight was the first night that I actually gave a crap about the MasterLock challenge. Put this guy with Flair & Hunter. That's what he needs. Look at how it eventually helped Batista.

I'm ready for Benoit to get some ECW help next week.

The more I think about it, the more I am convinced Batista will drop the belt to HHH, and regain some of his heat by breaking the Masterlock. Masters will then join Evolution.

I enjoyed Hurricane and Rosey's finisher - great visual. I don't know if I've seen that before, but I was reminded of Spike Dudley teaming with the Big Show.

Christian had replaced Jericho as the main reason I watch RAW, but I loved the way Jericho pulled off the monologue with Kane. They are tied, now, with Flair and surprisingly Big Vis third and fourth on the "entertain me on the mic" scale. Fifth is a tie between Daivari and Regal, only since we haven't seen Regal much on Raw in a long while.

Did anyone else get the impression that the reason Kane kept quiet with Jericho was so he could stay quiet while they played the Edge/Lita segment on tape? It disappointed me that Lita didn't have a chance to butcher her lines if given a live mic? And we didn't hear JR call her a Jezebel.

Kane did the strong, silent type better with the mask on.

Although they didn't have him climb on the second rope like Rosey, I remember Snuka and Andre doing that manuever in the mid 80's, with Snuka going to the top rope to jump off of Andre's shoulders.
Also, during the 2 minute Vince Memorial Day open, was I the only one thinking that this was Vince's sucking up way of making sure that his wrestling company doesn't end up under federal steroid testing? Because if it does end up under that umbrella, there will be a very extended Canadian/overseas run occurring.

I noticed how different Edge's hair looked in the video and in the match, but I chalked that up to some pre-bout hair treatment to keep it out of his eyes.

I'm fairly certain Trish will get a monster face reaction when she returns from her injury, and they'll probably just run with it. It's a shame, really, because of the awesomeness that is Heel Trish.

Me, I'm still wondering if I saw it right and Vince actually did speak of soldiers "defending our country to its death" ...

(And what were 9/11 images doing in a Memorial Day tribute, anyway?)

I'm really not feeling Benoit, Champion of ECW, even if it is resulting in decent matches. And Bischoff's anti-ECW army is Maven, Edge, Tomko, and Snitsky? The bottom of the barrel, she has been scraped. Who is Angle gonna get -- Jindrak, Rene Dupree, and the Bashams?

As for the Masterlock Challenge, I'm still waiting for someone to just reach back, grab a finger, and bend (which is the way I was taught to get out of a full nelson).

Victoria was flaming hot, and I marked out for her kicking Lawler in the slats. Shame she's going to job to Christy and vanish again, but I'll enjoy it while I can.

It was poorly booked in that it took a FACE champion and had him deliver a HEEL-style beatdown. It also made the champion look weak losing to, what I had always considered, a pair of undercarders.

A pair of CRUISERWEIGHT undercarders. If it weren't for the Memorial Day emphasis on thrashing that team (even if the show is from Canada), you could have switched the teams in the Shelton and Batista matches and achieved the same effect.

Yeah, maybe he saw Longest Yard over the weekend and saw his pal Kevin Nash was taking Steroids (and then Estrogen) and wanted to avoid the Noid.

A very entertaining movie, by the way, if nothing else but to see the wrestlers. I watched it instead of Raw yesterday....

Fair enough, but it isn't like Batista jobbed. Yeah, he lost by DQ, but it was clear that he outclassed Hassan, so "losing" doesn't really hurt him at all, in my estimation. And the lines between what a heel will do and what a face will do are pretty blurry these days. I really don't think that it matters what guys do anymore. A face will get cheered for a "heelish" action, and a heel might well get booed for a "facelike" action. For instance, why do people boo when Hassan and Daivari complained about being discriminated (well, in the beginning before they became total dicks)?

To be fair, these RAW and Smackdown teams were clearly designated as "volunteer." I would suspect Christian and Big Show have better things to do than crash a PPV reunion for a company they were never a part of.

I actually don't see it as much as a reflection on Christy as much as I see it as an indication that sometimes the writers really don't have a good grasp of fan psychology. In other words, it goes beyond just Christy Hemme. For example, Hemme is still over in the Stacy Keibler that-chick-is-hot sort of way. In fact, if you go back to that segment, when Victoria first hit Christy, she actually did get boos. And had she just powdered out after that, I think she would have gotten the heel reaction the writers were looking for. But then she proceeded to kick everyone's ass who was moving in the ring, including Lawler's, which moved her into "bad-ass" territory. In the context of wrestling, fans generally prefer bad-asses to wusses, and they are going to prefer chicks who can kick ass over those who can't, especially given that the girl who is kicking ass doesn't look so bad herself.

Now this doesn't matter so much in the women's division, because I mean, what division? But you see the flip side of this dynamic happening with Kane's character. They are turning him into a wuss, expecting him to get sympathy, but instead he is getting heel heat. And of course Kane is not going to have "that-chick-is-hot" thing to fall back on! Granted, part of the problem is that I don't think fans ever bought into the Kane/Lita couple to begin with (they really didn't have time anyway, since this was so rushed). But I think even if you give Matt Hardy this same material, he would get the same boos because he would come off as a wuss, and that just doesn't fly in wrestling. I think the writers heard that old "wrestling is soap opera for guys" thing, but have forgotten the "for guys" part.

The Bored are already here. Idle hands are the devil's workshop. And no... we won't kill dolphins. But koalas are fair game.

I always thought for there to be a No Contest, that you needed to at least start the match. Match starts, a bunch of nonsense happens. Maybe they do an injury angle, a ton of people run in, something else weird happens, etc.
