June 22, 2006 -- 'FUTURAMA" is officially back from the dead.
The quirky animated show from "Simpsons" creator Matt Groening was canceled by Fox about two years ago, but will return with at least 13 new episodes on Comedy Central by 2008.
This is the best news I could have heard all day! And it's not even so much that Futurama is coming back, but it's NOT coming back on Fox. It's been great to have Family Guy, but Fox loves to cut out portions of the show and some of the dialogue. Comedy Central will leave Futurama intact.
The thought of a South Park/Futurama Wednesday has me absolutely salivating.
So Adult Swim picks up Peewee's Playhouse reruns, and Comedy Central picks up new Futurama episodes...hmm advantage Comedy Central. But does this affect the Futurama reruns that are on AS?

A while back I read that the rights for the Futurama reruns run out in 2008 and Comedy Central picks the show up then.

OH HELL YEAH! Futurama may very well be my favorite cartoon on ANY channel right now, and I cant wait to see what they do with a little more freedom than they had on Network TV.

Considering what South Park, Dave Chappelle, and Carlos Mencia could get away with on a weekly basis, I can only imagine the kind of scenarios Bender would get in. This is awesome!
Kinda sucks for Adult Swim, though, considering that they've pretty much been consistently airing Futurama for the past 4 years or so and may have had a hand in re-generating interest in the show.
