|  #21 Posted on 29.5.02 0745.01 | As someone who works for the one the largest sellers of DVDs in the known world I can officially tell you the originals will be realeased on DVD in the Christmas season of 2005. However in order get the orginals you have to buy the collection which will contain all 6 movies and 2 bonus discs. All for the projected low low price $299.99.
And as for Portman in Jedi I would assume when Luke as Leia about talk about their mother they show a flashback scene. Also in RotJ SE the added celebration scene may show her in it. But beyond that I couldn't see where else she would fit in.
I am one that would like see Bail Organa in Episode IV as well.

LOL. It's pretty common knowledge.
Though I'm curious what percentage of posters (especially the ones that love speculating about previously established plot points in the SW films) have actually SEEN a single film by Akira Kurosawa (actually, I'm not. It was a rhetorical statement).

That is what I was thinking too. But of course that would mean that Vader and Palpatine are the two fucking stupidest evil despots ever. Wouldn't they be suspicious if Padme got married and 6 months later had a baby? Especially if they are in the middle or just finished killing off all but 2 of the Jedi's?

And I'll be pissed if I have to shell out 300 clams to get the original trilogy because the only way I can get the original trilogy is by also purchasing the Anakin trilogy-- which, by 2005, I'll probably already have at least two-thirds of.
Plus, shit, six movies at $300, that's $60 per individual movie! NO WAY the average consumer is gonna want to pay that much, when there are DVD movies out there that you can buy new at Blockbuster for $9.99.

| #31 Posted on 30.5.02 1107.22 | As far as Lucasfilm as informed us Episodes 4-6 will only be available in the Complete Set. Keep in mind the complete set will also contain two bonus discs with over 8 hours of stuff on them. I have heard, though its not listed yet, that a nice coffee table book (like Beatles: Anthology) will also be included. But they haven't released that info to us yet.
Also note that it will be released at Christmas time, so people will pay whatever they ask. Plus $300 is the list price. I would expect many large discount retailers to sell for around $200-$250.

Ouch. But I'm sure people will buy it, if only to have "the complete series" in a "collector's edition" setting. I won't be one of them - as mentioned before, I don't believe that Lucas will decide on a final version of these movies until he dies and can revise them no longer.
Spaceman Spiff, let us know how the Chinese DVDs are - I may need to send for a set.

Frankly, as long as we have the ability to choose which version we want, they can make as many as they want.
If I ever wanted to watch ET (god help me), I want to be able to choose the original, with the FBI agents wielding guns and the kid dressed as an arab or the new sanitized version.
Same with the SW trilogy, Blade Runner, Apocalypse Now or whatever.

Didn't he once say that if he'd had his way, they'd never have come out for sale in *any* form, because he objects to anyone but him "owning" Star Wars?
Maybe he just figures that if he's GOT to allow people to buy them, he'll make 'em buy them every couple of years, always with the disclaimer that "this isn't the REALLY REAL Super Special Final Star Wars, that's the next one".
You know, like Disney and their "Special Edition" releases that cycle every ten years.

Oh, and surfing around, I found another site offering Episodes 4, 5, and 6 on VCD...although the covers were hella-nice, they didn't say anything about the extras or Dolby Digital 5.1 soundtrack offered on your original site.
