I think everybody in the WWE who isn't currently sleeping with a high ranking member of management should start and those who fail to get ahold of one should just retire as reading this board has proven to me that there's absolutely nothing that the WWE can ever do right and they are destined to implode. On theo ther hand, if we let the WWE die, then HHH will just move on to destroy the entire world. Forget Saddam, we need to be bombing HHH. | Torchslasher

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE stop whining about HHH. This is especially bad timing as Steiner looks like the guy to take down Trips. If Steiner gets buried at the RR, then I will happily give up and agree with you. Until then, get over it.

Steiner's not winning.
If I were on the Raw side of things, I'd probably just start fucking with Triple H for the hell of it. I'm gonna get buried no matter what I do, might as well have some fun...

| #5 Posted on 19.12.02 1250.32 | If Ole Anderson shows up next week on RAW to book, I'll say there is no hope. Eliminating Gerwitz would probably clear up at least 1/3 of RAW's problems. It hasn't reached the point of WCW/AWA where the only guys are either over 45 or are green rookies. A few changes in booking philosophy, a push here, a de-push there, and things can turn around. The main question is can they turn it around before no one cares anymore.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.

Personally, I think any plan that has multiple WWE superstars jockeying for position to try and nail Linda McMahon has MASSIVE COMMERCIAL POTENTIAL.

I'm also working under the assumption the new quad tear will either need immediate surgery, or will tear if he tries to push it putting him on the shelf. If that happens, change is possible.

Seeing as how Triple H still took time out of his busy schedule to "visit" the Smackdown taping despite his visit to the doctor...I wouldn't be surprised if he sticks around backstage at the shows. You know, since he won't be wrestling, that gives him that much more time to spend with the booking committee.

Can we quote you on this. I'll more than happily keep this filed away to bring back out after RR, but only if you promise to then raise high the anti-HHH banner ;)

Of course you can. This is not like RVD. This is Scott Steiner, who just got a fat/phat contract and needs to justify it. I think the WWE also knows just how much of a long-term risk Scott Steiner is (injuries, Roid Rage), so they will hopefully see how he draws as champion.
If they do give Steiner the title at RR, then spf2119, you will have to post in the greatest wieners thread in the Random section declaring me as the greatest poster ever to live (might as well raise the stakes on this ;)

If Trip does win at Rumble over Steiner with a quad tear, does that mean he will give the 'I Lost my Smile Speech' before the February PPV? The similarities of Trip on top in 2002/into 2003 are more and more like the HBK days on top in '96/early '97 that its becoming frightening (ratings decrease sharply, not wanting to job except to friends, injuries). If this keeps up, we're only 2-3 months from the bottom, and soon a new era will begin.

Never mind that even if he DOES drop the belt to Steiner, it'll only be because he was hurt and needed time off. Then we'll get the old "he did what was best for the company" line, we'll get Desire videos for months on end, and then he'll come back with a face push and win the belt from the newly heel-turned Steiner(even though the fans will still be cheering for Steiner).

| #14 Posted on 19.12.02 1334.31 | Of course, what both of you are missing is the fact that HHH wins either way at the Royal Rumble.
This is just like the Hogan/HHH match at Backlash, where Hogan won the match, but ultimately lost in the longrun because they rushed him to the title too quickly and he burned out.
If Scott Steiner wins the title, WWE fans are going to be given a champion that they are basically unaccustomed to and, based on Steiner's early performance, won't really come around to in the longrun. Expectations are high for Steiner, and based on his physical condition and interview on Monday, things aren't looking good.
That isn't to say he can't hold the World Title, because he actually did quite well in the past, but to come in and beat HHH right away and establish himself at the top of the roster will be a huge shift. It may be too drastic to do right away. They need to pace this thing out more and they don't look to be doing that.
If Steiner loses, he joins the ranks of RVD, Booker T, and Kane as guys who thought they were big shit but couldn't hold up when compared to HHH. Steiner came in, talked big, and fell way short of the expectations he laid out for himself on RAW. By doing that, the credibility of his words are taken away and he's no longer as intimidating as he was. Plus, it's just another feather in HHH's cap as opposed to a real threat.
It's too early for this match to be taking place. I don't see why they would be doing it this early unless they have something bigger in mind for WrestlMania (Austin vs Steiner? Austin vs HHH?) If they're serious about Steiner, they'll have him win by DQ after HHH & Flair have a diabolical plan set in motion. I'm looking for this match to end in a total schmozz. | The Amazing Salami

Relatively speaking, of course...
I mean, hey, at this point in WWE, it's a "career highlight" if HHH decides to squash you on PPV rather than on free TV...

Yeah, I guess I painted myself into a corner with that bet. So yes, I accept your challenge and look forward to having my name in someone's signature for once.
By the way Patrick, you just showed me why you can't be reasoned with. This is a no-lose situation for you.
If HHH wins, it's business as usual and you get to bitch about Criple HGH (ho ho) for another month. If Steiner wins, this is because of HHH's injury and not because the WWE thinks they can draw with Steiner as Raw champion. Either way, you get to keep with your negative, self-indulgent attitude. Nice jorb.
