Someone needs to explain to me what purpose Al Wilson, Torrie Wilson, and Dawn Marie have for anyone to care about this angle. Dawn Marie: Was Steph/Steph's secondary assistant when Stacy screwed her over (now, show that tape, and people will watch) with the RVD/Benoit return match contract. Thus Stacy left, and by default that would make Dawn Marie's reason for being in the builiding as Steph/Steph's assistant. Now, have they actually shown her doing anything being an assistant in the past 4 months? NO. When they finally have her and Steph/Steph on the screen at the same time do they bring up her being Steph/Steph's assistant? NO. So, why is she there? Torrie: Last seen killing Tajiri's career. Is not a wrestler, is not a valet or a manager. Thus, she has no purpose being in the building. Al Wilson: Is Torrie's father. Only reason to be in the building is because of Torrie. Torrie does not have a purpose in being in the building. Thus, Al serves no purpose. Thus, the angle they have shoved down our throats continuously for 3 months has exactly ZERO to do with wrestling. Funny how they have Angle give the old Arn Anderson speech about wrestling being on the marquee (of course, I thought the term wrestling was forbidden to be mentioned on a Vince McMahon program) on the same night they push this angle further down our throats.
I want you to know, I agree with everything I've just said.
It hasn't been that long since Torrie was wrestling. I thought she had excellent chemistry in her match with Rey Rey and wasn't bad with Rikishi either, which when you consider that it's Rikishi, is saying something. But hey, they never explain why it is that Arn or Dean Malenko or any of those other guys are there for when they come out to help someone that's injured, so they should only use no names for that as well. If you don't like a storyline, then ignore it. All the bitching, whining and constantly bringing it up isn't going to make you enjoy it anymore. I, however, quite enjoyed the wedding last night, between Tazz & Cole's commentary and just trying to figure out what in the fact they were doing made it quite entertaining.

Does this mean no more Benoit insults?
edit: Also, I don't remember the purpose of entire segments being about the guys going to the ring breaking up fights.

I don't think I've ever started an entire thread simply to insult Chris Benoit. I've never totally trashed Benoit either. I used to be a major Benoit fan, lately, his ringwork has bored me but it seems like maybe he's getting interesting again.
And I didn't say anything about breaking up fights, but it wasn't that long ago that we had an entire segment dedicated to the guys trying to get Undertaker some medical attention after Show pressed him off the stage.
Last night Dawn Marie appeared on my tv for five minutes of so wearing only the sexiest little white bra and panties set. That's a good enough reason for me. Who cares if the storyline sucks? It's a two hour show. There's other stuff as well. Stop complaining. If you don't like it, that's not my concern.
The entire segment was 10-15 minutes, but I was only refering to the joyful time of the underwear. That was only the last half of the segment.
Otherwise I don't think I actually praised. Personally, I'm only tolerating the Dawn Marie/Torrie/Al triangle. When Dawn Marie's not half naked, I'm usually refilling my drink.
My point is that it's a small fraction of the show and probably entertains somebody, so why get all tense. As long as they give me the wrestling that I want to see, I'll tolerate a little bit a crap to entertain somebody else.
My theory: The concessions people at the live shows were complaining that, because Smackdown was sooo good, fans were reluctant to leave their seats to buy the overpriced beer & hotdogs. By shceduling an Al/Dawn segment in the middle of each show, you have a builtin opportunity for potty & concessions. Kinda like a bad halftime show.
The thing is, it's not a filler segment anymore. During the fall when Torrie feuded with Nidia in bikini contest and such, sure it was bad but it was forgivable with only 7 minutes taken up with a hot show around it.
Now this is the top 2 story on Smackdown. When you have Angle winning a 4-way match to be the #1 contender for the WWE Title and the show finished off with worst of the worst late night softcore porn acting with Torrie and Dawn in a hotel, then we have a problem.
When this storyline is the focus before the opening theme, that's a bad sign. When in the middle of the show we have a 10 minute recap of this entire anlge (like I really need to relive this) then a 10 minutes of Torrie at home via satelitte and Dawn in the ring with Al talking it stalls the entire show, and really takes me personally out of it... This week wasn't the first time they have been the focus point, but I do find it sad that your World Title feud is the #3 storyline on the first live SD behind Brock's return and the the horrid Al/Dawn/Torrie stuff.
This looks like some experiment of lets do a soap opera storyline and take anything wrestling totally out of it and THIS is the result. So they just add dumber and dumber stuff to it, Dawn pissed in losing Bikini contest- Dawn picks up Torries dad - Al proposes - Dawn tricks Torrie into eating her out - Dawn still wants to merry Al - Torrie says all of a sudden she doesn't care - Dawn marries Al (we have a video camera involved now, next stage is going to be so entertaining *yawns*)
redsoxnation hit on something interesting. They don't have Torrie managing anyone maybe because she ruins everyone she managed in the past. So the other option has to be wrestling but she hasn't wrestled in TV for months and IIRC reading SD houseshow results she hasn't been wrestling there in weeks as well, and even if they do Torrie has won every physical confrontation already so she'll just beat up Dawn again and Dawn will just go back screwing Al it's just a repetitve circle. So what is the point of this? I doubt the WWE even knows.
edit spelled soap opera - soup oprah
(edited by Net Hack Slasher on 6.1.03 1818) Oh they have the internet on computers now!
I'm more concerned about WWE in a smarky way because its a unique program. Friends is just another sitcom and the genre will go on without it. If WWE dies, pro wrestling on TV may die with it. Programming tastes change.
