The last few weeks have seen Raven, Bull Buchanan, and D-Lo make their returns to RAW/SD, only to be released a few weeks later. Now, last week, Kanyon made his long awaited return, and got treated like crap. Considering his WCW lineage, is Kanyon the next WWF/E wrestler to make his return, only to end up on the scrap heep within the next month?

I'd doubt it. If they were looking to have him fired I can't imagine they would have given him such a high profile return. Fair enough he got beat down, but theres bigger stars than Kanyon have had to lay down for 'Taker in the past.

Course if the gimmick they give him sucks and he fails to get over then I'm quite sure the wwe will hold him personally responible (while the IWC denies Heyman had any part to play in the angle) and take 'appropriate' action

It's always a possibility, but unlike the previous 3, Kanyon hasn't really been a major failure yet.(Not counting Invasion of course, because that was a giant failure in general). He still has some upside as a talent, which they didn't really see in Buchanon, D'Lo, and Raven.

Speaking of letting people go, does anyone know how long Mark Henry has left on his contract? He seems like the next logical choice.

On the contrary, I think Kanyon was one of the highlights of the Invasion (MVP Kanyon especially). I'm pretty sure that there are some people in the WWE who've noticed that too.

Didn't Mark sign some ridiculous 10 year contract back in '96, or something like that? So, if that's right you've got The World's Strongest Man for another three years. Yay.

This is how I wish Kanyon's return had been played out:

[Kanyon's music hits, possibly with a big "HOOO BETTA DEN KAAANYON?!" at the beginning to let people know who it is, and, surprisingly, Kanyon walks down to the ring. He gets hisself a mic.]

Kanyon: Hooo betta den Kaaanyon?!

Entire Crowd: EVERYONE!

Kanyon: Ya damn right!

[Kanyon's music hits, and Kanyon walks backstage.]

Nothing against Kanyon, but I'd love to see that. Plus, it's more dignified than being beaten up while dressed like Boy George.

Or even just a video package documenting the arm damage. If you're going to bother bringing him back, at least give him something of a build, new gimmick, something...

I'm not saying that he needs a HHH-style return buildup, or even a Benoit buildup, but come on, at least throw the guy a bone on his return. I expect he'll be tossed into a run-in role in the Taker/Big Show match at the PPV. Granted, he'll run in, catch a boot to the face, chokeslam and that's that. Another wasted return...

There was no Benoit buildup. They just brought him out unannounced, unhyped in Edmonton one week.

I was kind of counting the stuff with Angle getting in Vince's ear during the split draft. He was made to be a big deal by having him drafted by Smackdown, despite when he came back ending up on RAW.

The word "Kanyon" hasn't been mentioned on television since his last match before the injury.

WWE needs to create a new version of "Tough Enough"
where veteran wrestlers who just don't "get it" are
sent to a camp run by Patterson and Brisco, oh wait,
Pat's too valuable, okay, "Hoss" Funk and Bret Hart
to "work on their timing" and learn ring psychology.

What? Kanyon? Oh, right, that's what made me think
of this, because Kanyon, despite having cool moves
and coordination that Dave Batista would kill for,
doesn't appear to have a clue about how to build a
match. He just mindlessly rolls out "cool" spots.

It would be a cross between "Tough Enough" and the
old reality series "Baseball Minnesota" which showed
Darryl Strawberry's comeback with a minor league club.
Heck, just use OVW. You've got Cornette and a crowd
that most of America would love to gawk at anyway.

I've even got a theme song: "I went back to Ohio..."

Make it kind of like a reverse "Survivor", where everyone stays there until 1 peson gets voted out (or up) to the WWE.

Kanyon will be making his debut in April for the NWA. For now, they will have him be the run in/sacrificial lamb to the Undertaker during his "feud" with Big Show. Then, when that feud is over and they have NO IDEA how to promote a talent like Kanyon, they will release him. He will then show up on NWA and have a great run.

If I were to promote Kanyon, I would do it as the disgruntled worker who does a run in on a match or two a week and gets tossed out by security. All the while he is screaming that while he was hurt, no one from WWE (esp. the McMahons) checked on his progress or even cared how he was doing. That they cut his pay and sent him to a third rate doctor to do the surgery. He could go on to say that HHH, Benoit, Mysterio and Guererro and other superstars got first class treatment when they were hurt and were given their old spots back when they returned. But not Kanyon. He was a US Champ! What about Kanyon? He could then form a stable with other "disgruntled" workers to form a mid card stable. It would be better than what he is going to be doing, that's for sure!

So I jump ship in Hong Kong and make my way over to Tibet, and I get on as a looper at a course over in the Himalayas. A looper, you know, a caddy, a looper, a jock. So, I tell them I'm a pro jock, and who do you think they give me? The Dalai Lama, himself. Twelfth son of the Lama. The flowing robes, the grace, bald... striking. So, I'm on the first tee with him. I give him the driver. He hauls off and whacks one---big hitter, the Lama---long, into a ten-thousand foot crevasse, right at the base of this glacier. Do you know what the Lama says? Gunga galunga... gunga, gunga-galunga. So we finish the eighteenth and he's gonna stiff me. And I say, "Hey, Lama, hey, how about a little something, you know, for the effort, you know." And he says, "Oh, uh, there won't be any money, but when you die, on your deathbed, you will receive total consiousness." So I got that goin' for me, which is nice.

I wish I were on this wonder drug that TNA are distributing; then I could view a second rate promotion that employs over-the-hill wrestlers as headline performers and constantly uses bad and recycled angles as the saviour of the business and the white knight for all the talent currently being abused by WWE.
