| #1 Posted on 17.8.06 1439.17 | Instant Rating: 3.87 | I was talking to my ex girlfriend, who's a HUGE Spiderman Fan and she's insisting that Topher Grace isn't playing Eddie Brock and that there's this big twist. Anyone hear anything about this, or am I way late on this? Who is he playing then? Hogoblin?
Kevin Kelly: "Mr. Austin, would you like to comment on Wade Keller's Take that endorsing the XFL hurts your anti-authority character?"
Steve Austin: "Oh shit, he actually said that? I thought the boys in the back were ribbing me!"
Kelly: "No, he really said that. Did they tell you the part about you sitting in the stands, looking all skeptical?"
Austin: "AHAHAHAHAHAHA. Yeah... oh man that was too much."| Promote this thread! | | Roy.

The only thing I've read that might be a surprise to some is:

| There's debate (or maybe not, I haven't kept up) as to whether he's playing the Ultimate Spider-Man version of Venom or the original comic version of Venom (or some hybrid). |
Like I said, maybe this is old news, but that's the only real "controversy" I've read about Topher playing Eddie. | The Vile1

I was there at Comic Con. Grace is playing Brock.
I saw the symbiote drip onto Brock and turn him into Venom. Topher Grace is playing Eddie Brock. Eddie Brock is Venom. No question about it.
This is Venom. |

Without revealing what's hidden under the spoiler tag, what's the difference between the two?

| Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org) has a good discussion on this. I'm not as well versed in the Spider-Man universe as I used to be, but I think it's accurate. |

This isn't Ultimate Venom. Eddie Brock and Peter Parker are not childhood friends. The symbiote isn't going to be a lab project of Peter's dad.
And first of all, this isn't high school long lost buddy Eddie Brock. This is a heated rival journalist/photographer Eddie Brock. |
