On my phone so I can't check, but I read that NBC is scrubbing Conan from everything. Removing all Hulu clips and such, not just from his Tonight Show run but also years on Late Night.

That's absurd if true.

It's true...search Hulu and you'll get misc Conan clips from him on other shows, search NBC.com and all you can find is his merch on sale. There is no official Tonight Show page anymore. Insane.

Eh, I'm not surprised. This is what happens when you let some larger entity have the rights to your intellectual property: you're at their whim if they should decide to make said property no longer available. I'm pretty sure Worldwide Pants and not CBS holds the rights to The Late Show and The Late Late Show. (Not that I think Conan had any real leverage in the matter.)

Get ready to be depressed.

This blog has photos from the last few days of work for the Tonight Show crew. It is mostly pictures of the dismantling of the set.

Really sad.

And now in a bit of a late nite update, Leno's got another major guest lined up for next week. It's...oh lord...Brett Favre

Between Favre and Sarah Palin, Leno's really trying to bring in a big chunk of viewers...and simultaneously turn OFF a larger chunk of viewers.

And in Conan news, the Twitter Tracker has become the Twitter Trackee...Conan's jumped on Twitter and it's a hoot. Also can't wait for someone to get that poor monkey off his back.

So you're saying it's a huge mistake for the host of the Tonight Show to have Sarah Palin (The W) on as a guest?

Ha! Owned!

And, might I add, getting Favre on your show before the "will he or won't he" retirement gossip really starts up isn't exactly what I'd call a bad move.

As much as I dislike Big Chin, I have to agree. How many times in how many Godd*mn video packages did we see HeWhoShallNotBeNamed's "something's bound to happen" line on Letterman prior to his torpedoing the front offices at 1265 Lombardi back in 2008?

Leno could use the same kind of free advertising.

I hate to add more to this monstrous thread at this point, but Andy Richter guest hosted Regis and Kelly this morning and spoke candidly about his feelings about everything. Short of Conan speaking on the subject - and Andy said for a fact Conan cannot appear on television - it's great to hear from the number two guy on the late Tonight Show with Conan O'Brien.

I happened to catch this randomly this morning. Andy also semi-hinted at the possibility of a national Conan-and-Andy tour. Yesssss!

Read it and weep, fella

Andy made an interesting point: No one blamed the local 11pm news broadcasts across the country when their ratings dropped 25-50% with Leno as their lead-in, but Conan got blamed when his show's ratings dropped. I dont think I've heard/read anyone point that out before. Or maybe I missed it???

Anyone know which particular market dropped 50%? I mean Daaaaaamn... it's still the freaking news. That's a market where people REALLY hated the Leno Show.

But by the same measure, it's just the freaking news, i.e. you can probably pick essentially the same news items from the 11pm bulletin on many channels?

From this past Jan: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2010/01/13/leno-ratings-study-lead-i_n_422669.html

The research firm Harmelin Media said local NBC stations saw their late news audience drop by an average of 25 percent in November compared with the previous year among 25- to 54-year-old viewers. That's the demographic upon which news advertising rates are based.

The decline was particularly steep in some of the largest markets: 48 percent in New York, 43 percent in Los Angeles and 47 percent in Philadelphia.

http://www.mediainfocenter.org/compare/top50/#tv

Top 50 TV Markets Ranked by Households, 2004
Rank Designated Market Area (DMA)TV Households % of US
    1 New York 7,375,530 6.692
    2 Los Angeles 5,536,430 5.023
    3 Chicago 3,430,790 3.113
    4 Philadelphia 2,925,560 2.654

For hypothetical purposes if everyone in those markets normally watched NBC and then it dropped by 50% you're looking at a 7% loss of the nationwide audience without losses in other markets

30-city tour, including Bonnaroo. Announced at 10am today via Conan's Twitter...and went on sale immediately at the same time.

I just got my tix for the Philly date. :)

Meanwhile, I'm THRILLED this is going on. I wonder if they will be able to make this into DVD's eventually.

But it needs 200% more Canada.

House of 1000 Corpses is exactly why I don't trust Rob Zombie. All the changes they are making are the exact reasons that the original Halloween was awesome and didn't suck like typical horror cookie cutter garbage these days.
