I'm going to see my first XPW show live tomorrow.

It'll be nice to see Chris Hamrick, K-Krush, Juvi, Psychosis, and a few other talents, but the gimmicked matches might be crazy dangerous.

Should there be a horrible accident at the event tomorrow and I should die, hold a memorial for me. And make it good!

On behalf of the rest of the SoCal independent scene, I pity you. Prepare for disappointment.

Well, the show was a little disappointing. The wrestling was average to above average, and it was good to see Hamrick, Krush, Malice, and the better XPW wrestlers live. In fact, one newcomer called "Luke the Altar Boy", is incredible. He's green as grass and probably 130 pounds, but he brawls well and busted out a 630 DOUBLE TWIST SENTON. THAT was amazing.

However, the fans are absolutely atrocious. They are made up mostly of marks and hecklers, and when they start chanting "BEACH BALL" (after two were taken away by security) and "THIS MATCH SUCKS" while Shane Douglas makes his return match, it was sickening. Shane Douglas has done much in the industry, and this was the beginning of the most important angle in XPW history: the company is going to start touring the country, casting off its status as a regional independent. And for these IMPATIENT, HORRIBLE FANS, it was too much to watch a decent match which told a good story. They had to ignore it and yell about a confiscated beach ball.

Still, even with them, it was an enjoyable enough show, and I'd probably go again if I weren't moving to Japan in a month. For those who haven't seen it, XPW is definitely not the easily ridiculed no-talent fed it once was. Seeing it live, you wouldn't know any better though. 75% of the FANS are bush league, indy level.

-K

EDIT: Senton was 630, of course it couldn't be 540.

That's because XPW has lied to them, fed them bullshit, and disappointed them over and over again. Their homegrown talent is abysmal, with Kaos possibly being the sole bright spot. Their training school is awful and they make no money on their shows (at least half to 2/3 are usually comped) and their so-called tour is going to fail miserably (if it ever happens, which it probably won't), as it'll look like a 4th rate ECw and 2nd rate CZW.

And Shane Douglas hasn't done shit in this industry except for trying to put himself over by namedropping superior talent. When a mediocre talent like Tom Zenk can imitate you perfectly, you're not that good. He's just there for a paycheck and a pop. That is, assuming his check doesn't bounce like New Jack's did.

If you want to see a good indy show in Southern California, try EPIC, GSCW, PCW, WPW, Revolution Pro or UPW. Better show and OBSCENELY better wrestlers.

i have a question about this. why was there the "teary goodbye" from three of the guys cut from WWE when HWA itself was cut from WWE? do guys like mike sanders and EZ Money have to leave HWA until the 90 day clauses run out?
