Interplay, in its infinite wisdom, has closed down Black Isle Studios, firing the staff of the studio and shelving their current project--Fallout 3--indefinitely.
There will be no more Baldur's Gate, no more Icewind Dale, no more Planescape, no more Fallout.
This comes along with the announcement that Interplay is developing a sequel to the console-shooter Fallout: Brotherhood of Steel...despite that the first game isn't out yet.
Dear Lord, the stupidity of some people. I know what I'm doing over Christmas break: start with Planescape, then revisit the Icewind Dales, and finally go wandering through Baldur's Gate as I remember the goodness that was Black Isle.

Thats pretty bad news since I'm well on my way to completing Icewind Dale 2 (which I got for my twelth birthday and haven't stopped playing yet) There was so much depht to all of their games I can name every single member of a party I ever had and what I thought of them. Serethi was the Raven of the gang and Drayna was all 'look at me I'm Harry Potter!' and don't get me started on Xara... Anyway I always prefered Icewind Dale it seemed much clearer then Baldurs Gate while being a lot more fun. It's pretty bad but all of the games they did are the ones you can play again and again.
I screw up in New Reno, and have to kill off the ranch-house "family" to keep going in the game. So, as i stand in their yard picking them off with my sniper rifle as they come out of the building, the little children in the street start chucking rocks at my NPCs.
Of course, my NPCs are armed with automatic shotguns. They end up chopping the kiddies in half while I have to deal with the guys with guns.
