You've got to check this out. I was in a bit of a rush, so I didn't have time to do a good copy of it, but hey - we lose our Free Bandwidth in a few days, so I had to do this now if we were going to do it. If you are here reading this after May 1, 2004, the odds are that the videos are already gone, but feel free to try to download them anyway - i'll keep them up as long as I can.
I'm linking up here http://the-w.com/files/ chasing_the_edge.avi a DIVX5 version of the documentary that my friend jerm shot last year at E3. It's 15 minutes long (62.3 megs) and is an interesting momemnt in time for the video game world. Right click and save as - most likely this will open in Winamp 5 or Windows Media player. Reply here if you can't get it to work, I'll figure out what codec you need to download.
Jerm wasn't going to mention this, but I will. I really want him to come out to the west coast again this year to check out E3, but the way that finances are, it's just not going to happen unless we can move some units of this bad boy. Jerm's in Florida, E3 is in L.A., so you get the picture. As you can tell, if we could get him there, it is likely that more hiliarity would ensue.
On the one hand, for $25 you are getting a home-made DVD-R with a generic case. On the other hand, you're actually donating a little bit towards a guy who is Chasing the Edge (and his dreams) by trying to make his way in the world of video games and independent film. I look at this as a good way to live vicariously through somoene else.
If you've got the $25 to spare and you want some entertainment (and a good cause) send it jerm's way.
The DVD is flawless, and contains MUCH better audio and video than I am giving you here. There is a menu and everything! Included are 6 features - but jerm can talk more about that if you have any questions.
Also here for you people that can't play DIVX there is a copy of the seed prank, also from E3. I won't go into details, watch it for yourself. I may have posted this part here already once, I can't remember. http://the-w.com/files/seeds.mp4 (8 megs) Right click and save, then open it in Quicktime.
If you want to purchase a copy, either send me a PM and I'll get jerm your info, or you can leave him a PM here under that name as well.
I'm going to get him to start doing video game reviews here at some point, as well. He's got a talent for it, if I can just get him and Colin to work for free
Maybe I can send burritos.
Anyway download this now, because it's going to be gone, and you don't want to miss it.
Again, I apologize for the quality of the rip. I don't rip DIVX ever, so I suck at it. The DVD is flawless though $25 for a gamer geek to maybe make it a little further.
OK I'm done. Go.

I downloaded the lite version that was linked above, but it didn't work. What do I have to do? I'm having the same problem as Frosty.

In the context of baseball, the use of drugs hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, the use of alcohol hurts only the player. In the context of baseball, womanizing hurts whom? Maybe the wife of the player? In the context of baseball, felonies are crimes against society, not against baseball. In the context of baseball, gambling is the only crime against baseball.
Gambling, in the context of baseball, is a capital offense and Rose has richly earned-- hell, he agreed to-- his death sentence. Let him hang.

Go here http://www.divx.com/divx/ and look at the table that has three choices listed. Then, look underneath that table. You actually want the fourth choice, which is the DivX 5 standard Free (NOT Pro). This does not come with adware bundled with it, and as far as I can tell this is what you need.
Luigi's Mansion is worth around $15 - don't pay full price for it. It was a launch game and has some rough edges, but it's an OK title if you can appreciate it in context for the system. I can easily recommend: Mario Golf Mario Party 4,5 Mario Kart:
