Christopher Nolan's first film since The Dark Knight is a visually dazzling but sometimes difficult, action-packed incursion into the blurred line between dreams and reality. See it on IMAX if you can.

It felt like 2 and half hours that is for sure. Hopefully, we can change the subject lines to debate the ending which will no doubt be debated til the end of time or til the sequel comes out. I thought it was good and one of the better summer films, but that is not saying much. If any movie is going to get Nolan an oscar nod and not be a Batman film, this is it.

I've always felt like movie threads, being about the movie, should be totally laden with spoilers. But I guess some people read these looking for general impressions and recommendations. Those dicks.

That thing was totally about to stop spinning. I saw it in a sold out showing and it was really funny how the entire crowd started getting anxious and antsy as it spun around. Then when it cut to credits everyone shrieked.

I thought it was the best movie of the year so far by a significant margin, ahead of, let's say, Greenberg and Shutter Island. Christopher Nolan and Noah Baumbach have supplanted Charlie Kaufman and Wes Anderson as my must-see auteurs in the fields of "postmodern exploration of fragmented society/identity/reality" and "melancholy idiosyncratic character study," respectively.

It was weird to see Ellen Page walking around in this kind of movie bein' all Ellen Page; I kept thinking she should be visiting the mayor of Halifax.

My third-favorite movie of the year thus far (behind TS3 and Kick-Ass), but very much worth seeing.

Rest up before going, though. It takes some work to get through this.

I didn't make this clear cut in my review, but I loved it.

Oh, totally. In fact...

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
Every time we saw the dream-top, it always spun perfectly, with no signs of toppling. At the end of the movie, you could see it hiccup.

But...

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
How does Saito have that kind of power to make everything right with one phone call - a phone call placed right as the plane is about to land? That alone made me think the real world was a dream.

Some of the dialogue was really hard to understand (Saito and Eames particularly). Saito was mostly due to his accent and Eames because of sound effects drowning him out, but maybe my theater had something to do with it. Or maybe it was just my ears.

The buildup and execution of the successive kicks had the goosebumps out. Unbelievable climax.

I didn't check my watch once. I was completely engaged the whole time, and I will definitely see this again in the theater.

Having seen this twice, I agree 100% that it was not a dream. To me the significance is that he spins it but then leaves it behind once he sees his children, To me, that is him letting go off all that dream business and living for the reality. It definitely wavers, which it does not do in a dream.

As for Saito, I wouldn't assume it was just before landing. They were out for 10 hours. The flight from Sydney to LA is at least 13 hours. I think accepting the fact that Saito is powerful enough to pull this off is as important as accepting the fact that extraction could be performed in dreams.

I agree with the lord of the manor that character had a ton of cash and it was noticeable from the moment he joined the team. The real question is why he even went on the mission. If they screwed him, he would have found out in a few months and he knew where Cobb would be, so he would probably just have him killed later. I also agree the accents and some of the soundtrack made it heard to understand some of the characters, I did not love the soundtrack as much as others did. I did think they used sound very well in the film especially in the dream scenes. God Damn, I went to go into more detail with this, but I doubt know how to black out the text. I am in the reality camp even though I said they could easily do a sequel.

Probably same reason Ellen Page came back.

Also,

DiCaprio woke up on the plane, and therefore knew how he got there. It was said before that you know you're in a dream if you don't know how you got to where you are.

At least, that's what I thought of this morning. When I saw it yesterday, I was too busy trying to push the top over with my mind. (I also thought Michael Caine was going to grab the top.)

Watching six seasons of Lost has trained me to look for and identify misdirection. Not that I'm any good at it, though. I totally agree that...

Spoiler Below: Highlight text to read
...the real world was, in fact, real. Not arguing against it. All of the clues point to real (the wavering top and hansen's excellent observation of knowing how you got there). After one viewing, I thought I identified evidence (red herrings?) for it being a dream. Besides Saito's ability to pull strings, the one other thing that threw me off was how Cobb always referred to wanting to "go home." He then used that exact phrasing when telling the story of his previous inception with Mal - how Mal wanted to "go home", ie, back to the real world.

One other thing: the sound effects in this movie were unlike anything I've ever heard. Particularly, there was the one scene where someone's head slams into - was it a windshield? - the THUD was so real, I jumped in my seat.

Except with square rather than curly brackets (and whatever text you want hidden in between the on and off tags obviously).

On topic, I thought the movie was great and I'll probably go back to see it again at the weekend.

Lots of discussion everywhere regarding the ending. I unfortunately had to leave during the last 20 minutes because my girl got sick. Is it true the kids were wearing the same clothes and in the same spot he always pictured them in? If so, thats a big nod toward dreamworld no?

Best movie I have seen this year. I went with my dad yesterday and he loved it so much,he took my mom today (full disclosure - he has a hearing aid and wanted to hear some of the lines he lissed the first time around).

It was a long movie, but I never noticed the time. Big BIG thumbs up.

There it is. I think it was a slightly different spot, but the pose was the same, as was their clothes, and strangely so was there age.

why would so many agents be chasing him in the beginning for a simple murder charge? Would the price on his head really be that amazing to warrant such an onslaught?

If I'm thinking of the right scene, that wasn't federal agents chasing Leo, they were employees of the company that hired him to get info on Saito (a task that Leo failed at). I never got the impression that there was a manhunt for him, just that a) if he flew in to the country his name would be flagged on a watchlist, and b) even if he snuck in, the grandmother would have him busted.

I thought I read that the clothes and hair were slightly different at the end.

Also, all the end needed was a rat to come running across the table and knock over the top.

My theory is that it's real and the ambiguous ending is just a swerve to try and create a talking point for the movie.

This was a Lisa-centric plot that didn't do all that much for me. Marge getting possessive of her daughter was a little bit out-of-character for her, but there wasn't anything terrible here. This plot was just...there.
