While the media is busy assaulting Rush Limbaugh and attempting to destroy his character (AGAIN), and people are trying to turn a leak of a CIA agent into a presidential scandal, there is some other news in the world.
Kuwait foils smuggling of chemicals, bio warheads from Iraq Associated Press Kuwait City, October 2
Kuwaiti security authorities have foiled an attempt to smuggle $60 million worth of chemical weapons and biological warheads from Iraq to an unnamed European country, a Kuwaiti newspaper said on Wednesday. The pro-Government Al-Siyassah, quoting an unnamed security source, said the suspects had been watched by security since they arrived in Kuwait and were arrested "in due time." It did not say when or how the smugglers entered Kuwait or when they were arrested.
The paper said the smugglers might have had accomplices inside Kuwait. It said Interior Minister Sheik Nawwaf Al Ahmed Al Sabah would hand over the smuggled weapons to an FBI agent at a news conference, but did not say when.
Government officials could not be immediately reached for comment.
Iraqi Interior Minister Nouri Al-Badran met on Tuesday with Sheik Nawwaf and discussed cooperation between the two countries in security matters. His visit is the first by an Iraqi interior minister to Kuwait since 1990.
Now, I'm not sure what the implications are, but the A.P. wouldn't rush to print a story like this if there were no factual basis. We'll see over the next few days what the realities are. The beginning of the article makes it seem like there actually were physical WMDs being smuggled, but the rest of the article is vague. I guess it's wait and see time.
SO... if the husband of a CIA "operative"(and let's face it, that status is up in the air) outs here as being one, that makes it the fault of the White House, even when knowing that the husband in question was a Clinton appointee and a donor to Kerry?
Look, I'm not saying the White House is not for certain at fault here. But it looks like a bunch of political hacks(again) trying to plant something false going into an election year. This, luckily for them, is at least having some legs about it.
This story has been around for months, how odd that all of a sudden the media has made a big story. Novak has said that it wasn't some voluntary leak already. The guy has very close ties to the Democratic Party, and plenty of articles have now been done by people showing that it wasn't much of a secret at all. And Limbaugh's views over this? You've got to be kidding me. I remember when CNN ran a show on "How the media can stop Rush Limbaugh" years ago, back when Clinton was trying to blame him for the Oklahoma City Bombing. When he didn't admit his guilt, the media went wild trying to destroy him, but it didn't work, and this won't either. This whole escapade only proves that nobody gets to say what's really on their minds on T.V. these days, even if it may be true.
Oddly enough, nobody is saying anything about this story, Drudge is the only news site it is linked from that I've seen.

Let's go back and actually READ what I wrote the first time....

The biggest difference though is the U.S. in 2000 had over 2 centuries of Democratic Tradition (close to 4 centuries if you consider the distance between the crown and colonies pre-War of Independence allowing some local governance)
