OPENING THURSDAY NIGHT NFL RECAP
Another Thursday Night Snoozefest, with both offenses giving us next to nothing. These four-day turn-arounds are brutal. Way to go, NFL! That end zone pick was another bad sign in a series of them for Alex Smith. No way the Niners hang in the playoffs, especially if Eli's standing in their way. Crazy to see Seattle 4-3 with their only three losses coming in their own division.
49ERS 13, SEAHAWKS 6

The sounds of "Reborn" by Trapt run down what happened at Bound For Glory last Sunday, culminating with Jeff Hardy winning the world title from Austin Aries!

The camera takes us outside, as we see the Aces & Eights riding in. They bully around some security guys and make their way in.

Let's hit their music! The ACES & EIGHTS make their way in from the crowd. All six of them are wearing masks, so we can't tell who any of them are. Lucky us. They point to the ImpactTron, where we see Bane admiring his handywork. Bane says they beat Hulk Hogan at their own game and credits their newest member, Devon! So Devon isn't even the leader? Well, that's great, because...you know...they haven't dragged this out long enough yet. So hit the Aces music again, as we see DEVON come in through the crowd with his Aces & Eights jacket. Taz explains Devon's noticeably-visible face by saying that once the mask comes off, there's really no point in still wearing it. Of course, that begs the question of why no one's bothered to try unmasking the other guys, but whatever. Devon gives a parade of man-hugs to the other six Aces and takes the mic.

Devon tells the crowd to shut up, which brings up "You Sold Out" chants. Devon says the Aces have had his back since day one while seeking cheap heat with the "no-good inbred pieces of crap" line. Devon takes some time to thank the Aces leader and says the Aces will destroy TNA. Devon then addresses "Bubba, Hogan, Sting..." and reminds Ray of everything he put Devon through two years ago. Here's a "Bully's better" chant!

Sting's music suddenly cues our first interruption. It's STING and BULLY RAY and they're flanked by SAMOA JOE, "THE PHENOMENAL" AJ STYLES, MR. ANDERSON, KURT ANGLE, GARRETT BISCHOFF (!), "COWBOY" JAMES STORM, CHAVO GUERRERO, HERNANDEZ and others! Sting tells the Aces that he wants to introduce them to the TNA roster!

The TNA guys all charge in and here's a big schmozz! The TNA crew clear out the ring, just in time for the "Not the nWo" porno music to hit! HULK HOGAN comes down wielding a baseball bat. And not the one in his pants. HEY-YO!!! The Aces escape into the crowd to take us to our first...

Ad break

We come back with Hogan grabbing the mic, still flanked by the TNA roster. He demands the Aces come back out, so they do! That leads to the TNA guys chasing them back. Hogan says that full access means they have to fight. Sting grabs the mic and challenges Devon for tonight. Hogan tells Devon that they're either all the way in or all the way out (must...not...make...sex tape joke...) and threatens to banish the Aces if Devon doesn't fight tonight. The crowd chants "Bully"! Devon yells out that he accepts. The crowd's so enthralled by this, they chant "We want Bully!" Did Bully Ray suddenly become the #1 babyface on the roster by accident? Hit the porno music!

Here's a video package on Aries/Hardy from Sunday.

Later tonight, it's a Jeff Hardy Celebration! It'll be like all the other Jeff Hardy Celebrations, only with a whole lot less coke!

Backstage, we see Austin Aries watching all this on a monitor with a COOKIE! Aries is not amused by Jeff getting a celebration and notes that it's not a party without The Greatest Man That Ever Lived! "Maybe I'll bring some cookies. Liven things up a bit."

Ad break

Backstage, Hulk Hogan talks to Mr. Anderson. He tells Anderson that next week is Championship Thursday and Jeff Hardy will defend against one of four men. James Storm (or "James Storms", if you're Hogan) is one. Hogan adds that he's going to have a three-way! For the second spot! Get your minds out of the gutter, you pervs! Hogan gives the third spot to Anderson. Joseph Park enters the picture and Hogan asks how he's holding up. Park says he's had enough of the Aces and wants Hulk's time. Park says he needs to talk to Hulk alone, so Hulk shoos everyone out...including the camera guy!

ROBBIE E (w/ROBBIE T) v. "THE SAMOAN SUBMISSION MACHINE" SAMOA JOE: TELEVISION CHAMPIONSHIP MATCH
Ohhh...Robbie E is SO dead...

Joe kills E dead with a back elbow and nails the avalanche/enziguiri combo. Joe beats E silly with chops, kicks, and knees. E tries a chop and Joe disdainfully no-sells that silliness before wiping him out with his own chop. Joe tries to set up for the Muscle Buster, but T runs interference. E tries to take advantage with chops, but Joe scoffs at this nonsense and kills him with another big chop of his own. Joe ducks an E clothesline and decides to wipe out T with a suicide dive elbow! E tries to come off the apron and eats a kick for his troubles. Muscle Buster, Kokina Clutch, goodbye in a two-minute special!

WINNER: Samoa Joe - SQUASH!

Post-match, T tries to get a piece of Joe, so Joe casually disposes of him with the Clutch, too. See, that's the killer Joe we all know and love!

Backstage, Big Brother Jessie military presses Tara for a photo shoot. They make fun of their photographer. "Do you know who I am? I'm Jessie from Big Brother!" Boy, if that line doesn't say it all, I don't know what does. They make out. Oh, this angle's going to need a mercy killing soon, isn't it?

Coming up next, Tara faces ODB!

Ad break - Who the HELL looked at a big-time literary detective like Alex Cross and said "You know who we need to play this guy? TYLER PERRY!" I hate Hollywood.

TARA (w/JESSIE) v. ODB: NON-TITLE MATCH
No one comes out when ODB's music hits, so we go backstage to find ODB arguing with Eric Young. Apparently, there's a voice ODB's hearing in the background and she tells Young that he'd better be wearing his ring. So no Young tonight, it looks like. ODB makes her entrance...and stays on the phone all the way through her entrance.

Tara makes out with Jessie some more, so ODB attacks her from behind! Announcers note that Miss Tessmacher gets her championship rematch next Thursday. ODB hits a Davey Boy powerslam...and reaches for her phone. She yells at Young some more and tells him to stay on the line. Meanwhile, Jessie runs interference from the apron, so ODB brings him in for some motorboat action! ODB gets on the phone before Tara attacks from behind. Tara grabs a hairlock and drops ODB before hitting the chinlock. Tara starts making out with Jessie, so ODB takes a swig of the flask, which we all know gives her SUPERPOWERS! ODB picks up Tara in a fireman's carry and sprays Jessie with the VODKA MIST~! The Bam finishes for ODB in a two-minute special.

WINNER: ODB - Mildly entertaining. I could live with a Tara/ODB feud.

Post-match, Miss Tessmacher (HOT DAMN!!!) gives ODB a round of applause from the top of the ramp. ODB gets back on the phone, as Jessie comforts Tara in the ring.

Backstage, AJ Styles talks to Kurt Angle and formally breaks his tag team with Kurt Angle. Kurt plays the role of Mr. Exposition and notes that tonight it's Kurt vs. AJ vs. Christopher Daniels for a title shot next week. AJ says that's why it's the best time to break the team up.

Later tonight, Devon faces Sting!

Ad break

Outside the arena, we take a look at the Aces & Eights.

Here's a video package on the tag title match from last Sunday. Daniels and Kaz promise vengeance against the new champs.

KID KASH & GUNNER v. HERNANDEZ & CHAVO GUERRERO: NON-TITLE MATCH
Hernandez wears the title over his chain, a step up from the phallic belts that Kaz and Daniels were donning. We take our obligatory look at the Spanish Announce Team.

The heels get some cheap shots in to start. They dispose of Chavo and double-team Hernandez until Hernandez pounds the shit out of them with a double clothesline. Military press puts down Kash and Chavo tags in for a snapmare dropkick. Hernandez tags in and hits the bear hug into the belly-to-belly suplex! Kash bites Hernandez and tags out. Hernandez hits a bodyslam and Chavo tags in with a slingshot senton. Chavo quickly finds himself the face in peril. Chavo tries to come back until Gunner nails him with a clothesline from the apron. Heels work over Chavo some more. Chavo puts Kash down with an enziguiri and makes the hot tag. Hernandez comes in with the slingshot shoulderblock and takes down both heels. Hernandez nails Kash with the NFL tackle! Chavo tags in and finishes with the top-rope crossbody in about 4 minutes.

WINNERS: Hernandez & Chavo Guerrero - Decent TV match.

Backstage, we see Jeff Hardy walk to the ring. His celebration is up next!

Backstage, Joseph Park wants Hogan and Sting to give him Aces & Eights. Now Bully Ray enters the picture and wants to talk to Hulk alone. Hulk wants everyone to stay in, so Ray starts by thanking Sting. Ray says nobody knows why Devon did this, so Ray wants Sting pulled out of the match so Ray can find out himself. Hulk tells Ray to get ready for next week, because he'll be a part of the title picture for next week. Ray exits, saying Hulk still doesn't trust him.

Here's a video package on the title match from Sunday.

JEFF HARDY makes his entrance with new music, looking like a painted-up Billy Joe Armstrong. And...sigh...goddammit, he completely fruited up the title belt. The Divas tramp stamp belt looks manlier than this thing. Here's a confetti shower! Here's a big "Hardy" chant from the Impact Zone mutants! Jeff says it's great to be back in the Impact Zone. I'll bet it is! Jeff says he can't wait to defend his title next week.

Interruption comes from AUSTIN ARIES, who brings out a tray of cookies, balloons, and sings "Celebrate good times, come on!" HA! Crowd chants "We want cookies!" Double HA! Aries says he doesn't want to take away from what Jeff did on Sunday. Aries completely credits Jeff for beating him on PPV (naming off Bobby Roode and Samoa Joe as guys that couldn't do so) and, thus, comes bearing gifts. Aries tries to hand Jeff the balloons, but they get away from him. Oops! Aries then offers cookies. Jeff says he doesn't eat cookies, but Aries insists. Jeff SLAPS THE TRAY OUT OF HIS HAND! Our hero, ladies and gentlemen! What a dick! So Aries gets down to business, noting that Jeff won his ("Well...that's not...my World Heavyweight Title, that's some other World Heavyweight Title...") title, so now Jeff's the hunted. Crowd chants "Hardy", so Aries tells them "Where were all you people in Phoenix? Because in Phoenix, they were chanting MY name!" Awesome! Aries says he can invoke his rematch clause anytime, but he's going to choose to pick his spot. Aries wants to take a closer look at the new belt and Jeff tells him "Take a look at the face you can't BE!" Aries admires the splitting image of Jeff on the belt and decides to spit on the belt! So Jeff decks Aries and tries for the Twist of Fate before Aries slides out. Hit Jeff's music! Announcers call Aries egotistical! Yeah, what an egomaniac, coming out to congratulate his opponent like that! WHAT A JERK, RIGHT?

Backstage, Christopher Daniels bemoans having to face AJ Styles and Kurt Angle tonight. But he says the APPLETINI~! is half-full and offers to show Hulk Hogan what kind of man he is tonight!

"THE PHENOMENAL" AJ STYLES makes his entrance for our next match! It's up next!

Ad break

"THE PHENOMENAL" AJ STYLES v. CHRISTOPHER DANIELS v. "THE OLYMPIC GOLD MEDALIST" KURT ANGLE
Daniels has a new kick-ass "REBEL" tattoo over his left pec!

The faces take turns teeing off on Daniels. Announcers note that Kaz had travel issues, which explains his absence. With Daniels out of the way, AJ and Kurt shift into a wrestling sequence. AJ nails the dropkick and works over Kurt in the corner until Daniels attacks from behind. AJ whips Daniels into a Kurt clothesline. AJ's suplex on Kurt is reversed. AJ rushes in, but eats a backdrop. Kurt hits Daniels with a tilt-a-whirl suplex, nails AJ with a belly-to-belly suplex, and hits Daniels with a German suplex! AJ nails an enziguiri and tries to follow up with the Styles Clash, but Kurt grabs the anklelock! Daniels breaks it up and chucks Kurt into the steel post before nailing AJ with the STO for 2! Hangman's neckbreaker gets 2 and Daniels TAKES A BOW! We hit the chinlock! Daniels runs into a Kurt clothesline before AJ cleans house on both guys. Daniels creeps in with a Blue Thunder Bomb for 2! Kurt nails an exploder suplex! AJ hits Kurt with the Pele Kick! AJ backdrops Daniels out and wipes him out with the quebrada! Kurt kicks Daniels coming him, knocking him into AJ! Kurt finishes Daniels with the Angle Slam for the pin at about 6 minutes shown.

WINNER: Kurt Angle - Pretty good three-way, but felt a little short.

Post-match, Kurt offers AJ the Hand of Friendship. AJ declines and walks away.

We take a look at Joey Ryan beating Al Snow last Sunday, thanks to Matt Morgan.

Backstage, Joey Ryan introduces himself to Hulk Hogan. Hogan confronts Matt Morgan and asks what his deal is. Morgan reminds Hogan of his first Impact promo, where he said Matt Morgan would become a household name. Hulk tells Morgan about all the bad things people have said about Morgan's charisma. Morgan says he'll take all those comments and shove them up Hogan's ass. Man, glad I missed that part of the tape!

Backstage, James Storm walks towards the ring. He's up next!

Ad break

Later tonight, we see footage of Sting's HoF induction!

Here's a video package on the Storm/Roode brawl from Sunday.

"COWBOY" JAMES STORM comes out for our next promo. Storm says what goes around, comes around. He reminds us that he became champion a year ago tonight. Storm says he kept getting up for himself, his family, and his fans. Storm reads off his Cowboy Bucket List: Kick the crap out of Bobby Roode, drink beer, and win back the World Heavyweight Championship. Storm says he gets his chance next week.

Interruption comes from BOBBY ROODE, who noticeably limps down the ramp. Roode says they made good on their promise to leave everything in the ring and kick the crap out of each other. Storm wants a chair for Roode to kiss his ass. Roode yells that Storm was finally able to beat him after a full year and tells him that Storm has always needed him. Roode notes that Storm only won his title last year because Roode gave him the shot. Roode says that he will always be the better man. Storm says "Nope!" and lays out Roode with the Last Call! Hit Storm's music! FEED...HIM...BEER!

Backstage, Devon and Sting prepare for their match up next!

Ad break

Here's footage from Sting's HoF induction ceremony!

DEVON v. "THE ICON" STING
Devon attacks Sting coming in and works him over. Sting comes back with a clothesline and back elbow. Flapjack hits and Sting targets the shin. Stinger Splash misses, but Sting lands an elbow. Sting works over Devon some more and sends him to the outside to take us to our final ad break of the night.

We come back with Devon turning the tables on Sting. Both men exchange blows until Devon rakes the face. How about some punching? Here's an apron elbow. More punching. Gorilla press gets 2. Now let's hit the chinlock. BORRRRRRRRRING!!! Spinning elbow hits. Here's a second-rope splash that misses. Sting makes the babyface comeback. Stinger Splash hits! Scorpion Deathdrop hits! "NOW WE GO TO SCHOOL!" Scorpion Deathlock! But here's the nWo run-in Aces & Eights run-in for the DQ.

WINNER BY DQ: Sting - Oh god...are ALL of Devon's matches going to be this ungodly boring?

Post-match, the beatdown is on, but the TNA guys make the save! Time for yet another schmozz. Yeah, that's a whole lot of schmozzing going on. Here's BULLY RAY with the baseball bat! Closing credits are up and we're out!

FINAL THOUGHT

Ohhhh God, this Aces & Eights angle is going to be DEATH! There's really no reason that we shouldn't have had all the reveals done by this point. This is just overkill. Am I seriously going to have to wait another MONTH for the next unmasking? Just how long are they planning to run this angle?

Austin Aries choosing to pick his spot could be an interesting angle, if done right. I still don't agree with the Hardy title run and he was a total jerk during that promo. But hey, as long as they're running shows out of the Impact Zone for a while, they certainly won't have a problem getting babyface reactions for him.

And holy hell, that new title belt is just ugly as sin!

Not a good show by any stretch, thanks to some short matches and some eye-roller angles. Get ready for the ride down, folks! This one could hurt!

Until next time!

Take us home, Austin Aries!

I understand that they are dragging out Aces and Eights, but at the same time I am not sure what else they are going to put in there. They are still getting quality matches on TV and have two or three segments for the KO division. Maybe more time for the X Division, but that is maybe another 10 minutes out of the 20 or so Aces and Eight is taking up. If anything Devon is the Tig/Chips role from Sons of Anarchy of being Sgt at Arms which leaves us with a VP and President to go. I do think cutting Devon off when it was kinda getting on a role on why he turned heel was stupid. Turning on Bully made a lot of sense, but he needed to explain why he turned on Sting and Bischoff. Having said all this, the reveal of who is behind this all needs to come soon.

Tara/ODB is a better feud. Making Joe, a killer again is the right move. The Roode/Storm segment was a great cap on their feud maybe if it really is the end. The three way match was excellent and the slow turn of AJ makes me wonder if he is going to be the person behind everything or if its just a turn to have more amazing AJ/Kurt matches.

I do wish they would have had RVD come out with the title, but next week it seems like all the belts are on the line, so he will get time then. Morgan being a bodyguard is lame especially after his speech to Hogan. I am still not a fan of turning Aries for the Impactzone fans. Aries dig at them was great, too. I do hope that Aries is able to get the belt back, because he is so much better on the mic and in the ring than Hardy is ridiculous.

This is probably the weakest show since Russo left. Post PPV shows, especially following your biggest event, should always kick off a hot angle. WWE is great at this with Brock debuting this year after Mania. There should have been a major Aces reveal tonight. Or something to push things forward.

People compare this to the NWO, but that angle was moving forward every week. They were getting new members or there were questions about WCW loyalties.

The rest of the show treaded water. Aries still hates Hardy, Roode STILL confronted Storm, Aces are still doing the same stuff. All we got was Devon's explanation, which was fine for Bully, but not good enough to explain turning on the company. It wreaked of the classic "I don't owe anyone an explanation".

And damn do I hate Hardy. I've never like personalized bets, even when Austin did it. The title should be bigger than one man. With Jeff's heel turn, it SORTA made sense, but he's a face now. To me he came off like a dick knocking away Aries cookies and all. I'm sure TNA is happy he got a good reaction because the are in the Hardy groupie filled Impact Zone, but he's gonna get crapped on again as soon as they leave Orlando.

This was a terrible show to have right after your biggest PPV.

Well, they ran us into the ditch I had feared they would all along. Why should I care if the TNA roster brawls with A&8's to start the show when we have seen it all before dozens of times? Which begs the question why would you end your show the same way you started it?

So, since Devon is the "Sargent in Arms" I am guessing this is about right. Which should scare all of us because these are probably all *big* reveals that TNA is going to stretch out not to mention how ever many reveals there are going to be below Devon.

... and can we just settle on a number of how many of these guys there are. 10? 15? 37? I know we are going for a Sons of Anarchy thing (I hate SOA) but they shouldn't be able to just ring up some other wrestlers with masks in Santa Domingo and have them just show up fifty fold.

This is total garbage, and usually I wouldn't care because it is TNA and this is what they do. However, it really felt like they turned a corner and were building some actual stars.

Nothing else on this show really matters, because A&8's are dragging everything else down.

Maybe, I just need to tune out until the next BFG Tournament starts.

God that main event was atrocious. Give me James Storm, give me Bully, give me Aries, give me anybody as the World Champion cause that stupid Jeff Hardy belt is the most God awful thing I've ever seen! I hope they are paying Aries double a night for having to carry Hardy through interviews alone.

I will say this about the Aces theme music. As decent as the Sons of Anarchy knock-off theme is, I would have been much cooler with a knock-off "Ace of Spades" theme.

Wrestling themes need more Motörhead.

Pretty awful show in all honesty. Devon is a tag wrestler and going with him as one of the top guys in the Aces and Eights is such a woeful mistake as the terribly boring Main Event showed. If he's used as a singles Wrestler he should be on the second match of a PPV and shouldn't even be in Main Eventson Impact. He is a hot tag guy in tag matches and when put out there to have ten minute singles matches he's got nothing. They should have gone with Bully Ray as the top guy even if it was predictable. He would have been able to carry this lemon of a storyline. So let me get this straight a month ago Anderson wasn't hot enough to get a TV title shot, but now after winning one match he's hot enough to be in contention for the world title and Styles, Angle, and Daniels have to wrestle to even be in contention? Whatever. Chavo and Hernandez Vs Kash and Gunner was terribly boring. Chavo and Hernandez are a gigantic downgrade as tag champs from Daniels and Kaz. ODB Vs Tara with Jesse of big brother fame involvement was silly. Daniels vs Angle vs Styles wasn't as good as I thought it would be, and it looks like Styles may turn heel. I guess he's only allowed to feud with Daniels or Angle. The Hogan-Morgan segment with Hogan talking about creative meeting was counterproductive. When will Hogan and Bischoff learn that insider talk doesn't draw shit? You know you'd think, Hogan who drew for twenty years would have a clue as to what works, but he doesn't. The Sting-Devon match stunk, as Sting can have good matches, but as long as he's in there with a good worker which Devon isn't. Only highlight was Aries mic work. I guess Roode Vs Storm isn't over? All in all, a rather awful show.

Let's look at how this show fits in with history.

Post BFG 2009: The beginning of the Desmond Wolfe storyarc.
Post BFG 2010: Fortune joins Immortal to become an unstoppable supergroup for a few months.
Post BFG 2011: James Storm wins the title.
Post BFG 2012: The Devon Era.

I'm disappointed that Devon isn't being presented as the "big bad" behind everything. Still, at least he had good reasoning for turning on Bully Ray. I wish he had given an explanation as to why his contract talks failed. Something akin to "wanting to be paid like a maineventer" would be a good justification for TNA not resigning him.

I am super excited that Nero brought his Personalized Heel Belt back. Its such a Jeff thing for him to do.
