A friend came into town, so I'm keeping tonight's recap very short, bordering on Q'n'D.

The opening shows the Aces & Eights riding to the arena on their bikes, in the style of "Sons of Anarchy."

Sting leads out Austin Aries, Devon, AJ Styles, Kurt Angle, Jeff Hardy, Bully Ray, and a number of other TNA roster members. Sting says that it's Open Fight Night, as he shows stills of the A&E's attacks. "We Want Hogan" chant starts up. Sting brings out James Storm. Storm wants a fight, so Sting calls out the A&E. We get two of the A&E coming through the crowd. Sting urges the guys at ringside to let them in. So the two A&E guys run in (one with nunchucks!)...and promptly get beaten down by Angle and Storm! One guy's laid out (with the mask still on? Come on, TAKE HIS MASK OFF!) and the other guy bleeding from the mouth. Sting demands to know where the rest of the group is. The bloody guy hints at this being his initiation into the A&E and promises pain for the TNA roster. Sting gives him a punch in the gut for his troubles, which takes us to break.

Miss Tessmacher comes out for Open Fight Night. She decides to call out Tara, which is a callback to Tara getting screwed out of the four-way weeks ago by Madison Rayne and Earl Hebner. We see Tara come out from backstage and the match is on. Once again, Taryn Terrell comes out with full intro to be the ref. That leads to...

Tara d. Miss Tessmacher with a second-rope superplex in a non-title match. Announcers note that Tara's experience won out. Tara and Tess hug it out after the match.

We go back to Hardcore Justice and recap Aces & Eights attacking "Pope" D'Angelo Dinero. That leads into a Tweetpic of Pope's x-ray, which reveals a torn shoulder. Looks like Pope's on the shelf, which explains his sudden write-outs lately.

That leads to Sting revealing to the BFG participants that Pope has been removed from the tourney. RVD, AJ Styles, and Robbie E face off in a one-fall three-way...with Robbie T banned from ringside.

Robbie E d. Rob Van Dam & AJ Styles in a BFG three-way when E pinned Van Dam after he hit the 5-Star Frog Splash. Van Dam again dragged this down to his increasing level of crap, as he went through the motions and couldn't even take the Pele Kick properly. And man, does Van Dam ever look like a dope, eating a pin after hitting his own finisher. This finish doesn't help E much, either, as his 12 points have all been by fluke.

Jeff Hardy comes out looking like Kermit the Frog on acid. He wants some revenge for a few weeks ago, so he calls out Robbie T.

Jeff Hardy d. Robbie T with the Twist of Fate and Swanton Bomb. T put up some token 'roided offense, but this outcome was never in doubt.

Backstage, Daniels (with his sinister and tasty APPLETINI~!) and Kaz promise to get answers in tonight's paternity test. Daniels offers Kaz his appletini, but Kaz declines. "Come on! One a day keeps the doctor away." HA!

Backstage, Sting calls out Aces & Eights some more.

Jeremy Borash plays the role of Maury Povich and brings out AJ Styles. Styles apologizes to everyone, except the fans that had to put up with this insipid angle. Styles vows to take care of the child if it's his. Borash tries to bring out Crackhead Claire, but ends up with the World Tag Team Champions of the World instead. Kaz accuses AJ of protecting the Styles brand. Daniels says that Claire is in a Florida hospital having suffered a placental disruption and tells Styles that he put her through all that stress. Now we're joined by a lawyer, who identifies herself as Grace Stein, Claire Lynch's attorney. You know, because there haven't been ENOUGH broads that can't act in this storyline! Stein reads a statement from Claire indicating that Daniels and Kaz approached Claire with a blackmail scheme that led to AJ's drink being drugged, which led to the pictures. Claire sends her regrets and reveals that she was never pregnant in the first place. The crowd is reacting to all of this and, for the life of me, I have no idea why, because this is aggravatingly boring! And no, not even Daniels' over-the-top heel schtick can save this. AJ ends this segment by hitting Daniels with the Pele Kick for fun. Sooooooo......what was in Borash's envelope?

Can this angle finally be over? Please?

Backstage, Sting confronts three A&E members. Sting pulls out a baseball bat and tosses it over towards an approaching Hulk Hogan, who wipes the three A&E guys out with a single swing! That looked...kinda silly, actually. Hogan grunts comically.

Kris Lewie (not to be confused with Minnesota Vikings punter, Chris Kluwe) is this week's Gut Check contestant. He loses to Gunner. Lewie looked REALLY green, hitting awful punches, some very shitty clotheslines, and an ugly-as-sin Samoan drop. I was not impressed.

ODB is backstage on the phone with Eric Young, because we need to be reminded that they still exist.

Mr. Anderson comes out to announce this as his last BFG match, noting that he's saved the best for the last. He calls out Bully Ray.

Mr. Anderson d. Bully Ray with the Mic Check. A much better match than you would expect, given Anderson's involvement. Anderson kicks out of the Bully Bomb, while Ray kicks out of the Kenton Bomb. During the match, we go backstage to reveal two more A&E members getting jumped by Gunner, Robbie T, and Kurt Angle.

Backstage, Bane credits the TNA roster, but notes that this is their game and the dead man's hand will be revealed soon.

Sting leads out the TNA roster for our closing segment. He calls out the Aces & Eights again. The rest of the Aces & Eights come down the ramp and the fight is on. Crowd is noticeably subdued for this. The TNA guys look to have the advantage. Gotta love how they're seemingly going out of their way to NOT reveal their faces or go for the masks! Taz says "We don't even know who these dudes are!" Well, why not take off their masks and FIND OUT??? We go backstage to reveal Hulk Hogan, James Storm, and AJ Styles taking out more A&E guys in the back. Ok, exactly how many of these guys are there? Everyone's gone to the back, except for Aries, RVD, and Jeff Hardy, who are standing tall in the ring. More brawling in the back. EVEN MORE A&E guys come to the ringside area, so Aries wipes them out with a suicide dive! Ok, this is officially getting ridiculous. We go backstage for more fighting! We see the guy that looks like Bane lay out Aries and RVD, as he calls for EVEN MORE GUYS to bring in the guardrail! They lock Aries' arm in the guardrail and whack it with a steel chair! Six A&E guys stand tall over Aries. Bully Ray makes the save with his chain! We go outside where the A&E escape on their bikes. Closing credits are up and we're out!

FINAL THOUGHT

Suddenly, Aces & Eights! Thousands of them!

Ok, ENOUGH ALREADY! This is not cute anymore. We need a face to go with these guys now. ANYBODY! Because it's getting ridiculous when there are a couple of dozen random A&E guys running around.

One thing to note, however...there was no sign of Samoa Joe tonight. Hmm....

No Joseph Park, either. Double hmm...

Bully Ray didn't actually touch any of the A&E. Triple hmm...

Well...at least you can't say the pacing isn't suspenseful.

Until next week!

First dud in quite a while. Weird that the Claire Lynch stuff went from being the worst stuff about the shows to the only satisfying thing tonight.

Well, at least the Claire thing is done and to a pretty good pop. I did like the beginning with Aces and Eights being a Sons of Anarchy gang. They came in on bikes, talked about being patched in and had a nice gang mentality. If anything SOA is at least a current show to rip from instead WWE re-doing Disco with Clay and the Mega Powers explode with Punk and Cena. Then, it got ridiculous. Aces and Eights shouldn't be the Foot from TMNT with thousands of ninjas every where. I still like the storyline, but they need to really come up with who is actually going to wrestle in this thing and who is the mastermind. I can't see this going all the way to BFG without one or two matches between the TNA roster and Aces and Eights.

I believe the plan is to have a Lethal Lockdown match between the Aces and Eights and probably a team led by Sting at BFG. I doubt they wrestle before then.

Goddamnit TNA, you just can't help yourself can you? Always have to have half the damn roster against the other half someway or another.

So Anderson knows he's going into his last match of the series, and he's 10 points out of the final ticket to the semi-finals...

.. and he never even tries for a submission, much less stupidly going for a pinfall victory? The announcers don't even think to mention the math?

After the atrocious Divas Battle Royale from Monday night, it was good to see a halfway decent women's match, by which I mean Tara's half of it. Tess can use the remedial training/work, if this is the next feud we're getting.

With the A&Es, it did seem like they were coming out of some Impact AI spawn point at the end. And then after a main-event, show-closing brawl they are suddenly reorganized and riding off in formation, into the night? I feel sorry for the poor indy guy(?) who was unmasked, and apparently isn't even famous enough to get identified on the f4w website. (At least I couldn't find it in the daily update blurbs.)

Yup Anderson is a dope thankfully he's barely being used these days. I believe the unmasked indy guy is C.J O'Doyle according to numerous sites. Yup never heard of him.

Just caught the show on you tube and as Amos said it was a clunker, but I'll give them a bit of a break as Impact has been tremendous the last three months.Anderson not going for one submission was pretty ridiculous. The match was good, but marred by the lack of submission attempts. I think a better story to tell would be a desperate Anderson going for submission and Bully taking advantage and picking up the win over a frustrated Anderson. No surprise that Taz and Tenay made no mention of Anderson not going for any submissions as they are both out to lunch. While the product has improved ten fold since Russo left the commentary is still horrid as Taz has mailed it in the past five years and Tenay is a horrid play by play man, I wish they'd have Borash replace Tenay and see if he can wake Taz up. I see no way TNA brings Matt Hardy bck. I suspect the Aces and Eights leader is Jarrett, I hope I'm wrong. Speaking of Aces and Eights, I guess the viewers are more into the storyline than I am as Impacts ratings have been up lately and drew the highest ratings of the year this week (1.7 million viewers)

How about a reset of the Bound for Glory series as the angle comes to a close?

Storm 66 (RVD)
Joe 61 (AJ, Hardy)
RVD 55 (Bully, Storm)
AJ 50 (Bully, Joe)
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Angle 48 (Hardy)
Bully 48 (AJ, RVD)
Anderson 47 (-)
Hardy 42 (Angle, Joe)
Daniels 33 (-)
Magnus 28 (-)
Robbie E 12 (-)
Pope 7 (-)

Coming on Impact 8/30:

AJ vs Joe
Hardy vs Angle
RVD vs Storm

Looks to me like they are holding a spot open for Bully Ray to get into the semis if he signs a new deal (see below). I had an idea where they might be going now - everyone has been expecting the big Storm/Roode rematch to headline BFG, but with Aries holding the title, Roode looks shutout of a chance to regain the championship in time.

Why couldn't they do a Storm/Roode grudge match while Aries goes against the BFG series winner? Doesn't seem too likely - unless maybe A&Es comes out to lay a beatdown on RVD and get Storm DQ'd tomorrow night. Even if it turns out to be Jarrett (or whomever) as the leader later on, Storm would have good cause to pin the blame on Roode for the attack.

Put over RVD by DQ, Hardy over Angle by pinfall and AJ pins Joe, on Thursday.. and you can let Bully pin RVD at a house show this coming week so you arrive at the final Impact with this:

Joe 61 (Hardy)
RVD 58 (-)
AJ 57 (Bully)
Storm 56 (-)
- - - - - - - - - -
Bully 55 (AJ)
Hardy 49 (Joe)
Angle 48 (-)

Suddenly Storm is on the bubble, and you can do the Hardy match first where he pretty much needs to try and make Samoa Joe submit, and if he pulls that off you have a final four of Joe, Hardy and RVD, plus the winner of the AJ/Bully match.

(If Bully isn't inked, then you kickoff the 9/6 Impact with AJ knocking Ray out of contention, then your big closing match is Jeff Hardy vs Joe where a submission gets Hardy to the final four, or a pinfall win forces a tiebreaker match of Hardy vs Storm to join AJ, Joe and RVD in the semi-finals.)

Sorry if that's too much fantasy booking, but at this point I really hope they don't try and weasel out of the "no more title shots for Roode against Aries" stip.

Couple interesting ideas. Aj and Bully already had a BFG match on Xplosion that Bully won so your idea of having Bully knocked out by AJ won't come to fruition. AJ vs Joe could be one of if not the best free TV match of the year if they are given fifteen minutes like Daniels and Styles were two weeks ago.Bully has tweeted some cryptic things on twitter lately and stated he'll be at BFG which tells me he just might have re-signed as according to pwiinsider he only has a few weeks left on his contract. I really hope he sticks around and eventually gets a run with the title. I think we'll get a Roode vs Storm match at BFG after Roode costs Storm to lose to someone at No Surrender and lose out in the BFg series.

Best Lex Memory.... The Narcisist. That was a great character. He comes out, interested only in himself (How many other guys in wrestling probably lived that) and beating an opponent was the only way toget back in front of the mirror.
