Impact started off with the announcers acknowledging that Hogan would be on the show which made it even more ridiculous that they didnt advertise him being on the show on last weeks show. The segment with Ray-Roode-Sting-Storm was fine as Roode and Ray drew good heat from the crowd and besides for Roodes cowgirl line he and Ray were good on the mic. Sting got a great pop from the crowd and was fine on the mic. I would have liked to have heard Storm get some mic time. Sting set up the four way title match at AAO which made sense but a baby-face authority figure booking a baby-face in two matches against heels putting the face at a huge disadvantage doesnt make sense. I know Storm asked for a handicap match, but again two matches isnt much better than that and it makes more sense for a heel authority figure to book matches like this. Another thing is how mystifying it is that theyre giving away Storm Vs Roode for free again. I gotta say I cant say enough good things about how lively the crowd was for this segment and how major league a full arena like this makes TNA vs the bush league Impact Zone.

The Magnus-Joe Vs Morgan-Crimson match was a fine match, but the booking made no sense with the stips that a coin toss would decide that one team would go with Texas tornado rules and have both guys of the team in the ring at the same time. I guess it was meant to protect Morgan and Crimson but it didnt work. The crowd was really into Joe and obviously into Magnus and hated Crimson and didnt really like Morgan. Joe and Magnus continue to intrigue me and show good chemistry while Crimson and Morgan really dont. I was surprised that Joe and Magnus went over clean. This feud has been booked weirdly with Morgan and Crimson winning the singles matches rather easily then losing cleanly in a tag match where they were at a distinct disadvantage. I guess Joe and Magnus have a little more credibility now.

The Bischoffs segment to set up a segment later on was completely pointless. Why not just bring out the trainer earlier? The crowd by all reports shit all over both Bischoffs during this segment, but the crowd noise was clearly toned down with some audio magic and some crowd shots probably from some other segment showing fans cheering when Garrett come out. They surprisingly didnt edit out a rather loud boring chant though. Sadly this whole thing got more build than the Roode-Storm match. Another thing is most of the roster wasn't used vs Garrett getting two segments.

I liked the fact that TNA reintroduced Mark Haskins and showed a highlight package and had him cut a short promo before his match before his match with Aries. The Aries-Haskins match was pretty solid while it lasted and pretty crisp before Haskins nearly killed him self by botching the shooting star press. He thankfully escaped the match only with a concussion. He was actually pretty impressive before the botch and Id love to see more from him. Aries was his usual great self and the crowd adored him chanting his name pretty much the entire match. I really would have liked to have seen Shelley either on commentary during the match or cut a promo backstage. TNA hasnt done much building to the Aries-Shelley match after their dueling promo two weeks ago.

The Roode-Storm match was a very solid match that got fifteen minutes and told a really good story with Roode working on Storms midsection the entire match up. The match had good near falls and reversals and the crowd was really hot. The finish wasnt great as Roodes spear wasnt too good, but Storms sell of the move was fantastic. The rating for the quarter hour will likely be hurt due to Impact going to commercial at 10:02 which probably lead to people clicking to another channel. I still cant believe they gave away the match on free TV and even worse there was very little build going to the match during the show. They did not show any clips of their history as long time tag partner or even Roodes heel turn a few months ago. This was a good match, but again theyre really killing themselves by giving away big ppv matches on TV with no build.I'm amazed that neither Roode nor Storm didn't cut a promo backstage before the match. I don't understand why that didn't happen. TNA shouldnt be surprised when Roode Vs Storm doesnt do much better than usual PPV Buy rates because theyve pissed away the match too many times.

Gail Kim Vs Tara was an okay match with some timing issues, but otherwise not a bad match. The finish wasnt very pretty with Madison getting involved. I question giving away another ppv match just a few weeks before the ppv. They could have had a knockouts ta match instead and have Tara beat Gail.

I was surprised that the Hogan-Bischoffs segment wasnt in the main event slot and then I remembered that the main event slot usually draws the lowest rating of the show. The whole thing was awful as we got the old Hogan routine which the crowd ate up. Poor Gunner lost whatever cred hes ever had. Hogans promo was a rambling mess. He wasnt missed. I am not surprised that he big footed his way onto this tour as it drew the biggest crowds in TNA history and you know Hogan will take credit.

The Main Event of Bully Ray Vs Storm was okay with the crowd being really into Storm. The crowds chants of we want Devon at Ray and you fat fuck made no sense as really Ray isnt fat anymore and does anyone wanna see Devon? Sting being at ringside made sense as Bully Ray had gotten involved in the Roode-Storm match, but why wasnt he there for the Roode-Storm match? I guess storyline wise he was dealing with Bischoff who was trying to flee. Roode being run off by Sting and not helping Ray will likely lead to dissension between Roode and Ray. I hope we wont have a feud between them as I much prefer them both to stay a heel, especially Ray. I suspect Ray will soon be feuding with Hardy. Great showing by Storm in both his matches tonight.

All in all, this was a mixed bag show with good wrestling and a great crowd, but not great storytelling and too much Bischoffs on the show. The Bischoffs feud is so bad it makes the Kane-Cena feud look less awful by comparison. The decision making in throwing Roode and Storm out there on free TV again is rather stupefying. TNA is putting on much better show than a year ago, but they keep shooting themselves in the foot with some decisions. I will say the show being on the road and in front of the crowd did give the promotion a major league feeling and again showed that they need to get the hell out of the Impact Zone.

I enjoyed this Impact (and the past few editions as well) quite a bit. The RABID crowd made a difference, and TNA really should get the hint and start touring a whole lot more.

Poor Mark Haskins totally Lesnar-ed that SSP. It's always great to see the Last Chancery. Austin Aries is hot right now, and I can easily see him transitioning into a main event player once his feud with Shelley is over. He consistently gets reactions and you can argue he deserves to be in a spot higher up the card.

Graves correctly pointed out that there was too much of the Bischoff family saga, and it was no surprise that Hogan would be the trainer. The proposed tag between the two parties involved could make for a decent throwaway tag at the PPV, but knowing Hogan, it will be put in the semi-main spot at the very least. Blah.

James Storm continues to be the star of this show. Both his outings were solid and the crowd was into him big time. He has that redneck charisma (for the lack of a better term) and he knows how to channel it in and out of the ring.

Sting carrying around a cricket bat as opposed to his standard baseball bat was a cool touch, though that was nowhere near a full-sized cricket bat; it looked more a toy plastic bat.

Agreed on Storm. He reminds me of Dusty Rhodes with a little bit of Michael Hayes thrown in there. He is easily one of the most charismatic wrestlers in the world and TNA would be crazy not to continue to push him and I think they can do even more with him. I am also enjoying Impact for the most part but the Bischoff thing did sour me a little on the show.

The thing with advertising Hogan ahead of time, and even plugging his appearance at the outset, is that he was supposed to be the "surprise" trainer of Garret. When the announcers opnely acknowledge his appearance or plug him being on the show, then have to act surprised when he's Garret's trainer, there's somewhat of a disconnect there.

Don't know if it was a rambling mess just the usual TNA is on the verge of greatness and I can lead them garbage. TNA is doing much better but a promo like that does nothing for them. That promo seemed directed at Dixie Carter in the I'm a star and can lead the way and keep the checks flowing and use me more kinda way. you've got the wrong date for the show it's 2-2-12 not 2-12-12 hopefully the mods will fix that.

There was some odd booking and way too much Bischoffs, but overall, I thought the show was enjoyable and had some good wrestling. The crowd really added to the product. I appreciated the break from 10 minutes of unfunny Eric Young comedy this week. Unfortunately, that time went to Garett Bischoff rather than something productive.

I enjoyed the opening promo.

The Buckingham Brawl gimmick was goofy and Morgan/Crimson remain awful, but at least Joe & Magnus finally won a match. It would've been smart for them to have won prior to announcing them getting another title shot, but at least they won a match before the PPV even if it was only after the odds were greatly stacked in their favor by chance which didn't help their credibility issues much.

I watched some of the Bischoffs stuff to see how they edited it to make it look like fans remotely cared. What I saw was bad. This feud is still bad and a waste of TV time. I don't think Garett should be on TV let alone be pushed this hard and be the focus of an episode. This was the 1st show taped in front of their biggest televised crowd and Garett got 2 in ring segments, the 1st of which was unnecessary, multiple vignettes, and a recap video, yet AJ was no where to be seen. I still can't wrap my head around that. At least the Garett crap didn't close the show.

Aries/Haskins was a fun 4-5 minute match. Haskins should ditch the shooting star press. It's unfortunate X Division TV matches only get 4-5 minutes even when they're singles match with a great worker as was the case this week with Aries and last week with Shelley. It's also a shame they couldn't have found room for a short Aries &/or Shelley backstage promo to add more heat to that feud. They could have easily shaved off 4 minutes of Bischoffs to make room. I hope they get one next week because both guys are great talkers and have great chemistry. They could be doing so much more with this feud instead of doing what feels like the bare minimum. They've had no interaction or promo time the last two weeks.

Doing Roode vs. Storm on this show and not even making it the main event, diminishing its importance to a degree by making it Storm's 1st match tonight, giving Garett's trainer stuff a bigger hype job, and not announcing it at least a week in advance instead of holding off on that match until Lockdown was a mistake. That said, the match was great. Storm/Bully was good too.

Storm losing to Roode in a non-title, non main event makes me second guess my original feeling that they would keep them apart with other feuds to build up to a big PPV encounter. That encounter might still be the plan, but if so, why have that match last night?

It also makes me wonder if they are losing faith in Storm.

Crowd and atmosphere were great, though.

I've loved Aries since his ROH days and he's insanely over but I do not see him getting past the midcard in a promotion where Hogan and Easy E have power. They are too busy trying to get Bischoff's kid over to notice how over Aries is.

Crowd was awesome, I really liked this episode. The only thing that pisses me off is how Joe is not in a mainevent scene. He is over anywhere they go when they are on the road. People Love Joe.. when crowd loves a wrestler, you push him.. whats so difficult to understand about that?

This week has been really good for me as a wrestling fan.. first Daniel Bryan vs CM Punk on raw, and now James Storm vs Roode even if the matchshould be saved for the pay per views. The only bad part was, whole show was revolving around 7 guys.. and I didnt give a crap about 3 of them.

AA vs Haskins was a good match.. Aries can be a HUGE TNA star.. I hope they never drop a ball with him.

And btw.. Kudos to the guy who showed the finger to EB. Loved it. Gotta wonder how much power EB has because if he didn't have a ton of power his untalented unover kid wouldn't be pushed like this.

I turned it on to see Hogan's interview in the back and him rambling about how "close TNA was to rolling over the top of the hill! If I have to be the hood fixture that they put out front to make that happen, then so be it!" bullshit made me never want to see Hogan again, unless he's coming out to "Real American", then the 12 year old wrasslin' fan in me marks out every time.

Then the music stops and it's the same old Hogan.

I enjoyed the fact it felt like a big time event. I am not sure TNA can just give out as many tickets as the did for this, dirt sheets were saying 8,000 were just given away. If anything, it might make them twice about taking the show on the road. The card was good for the most part, I turned it off as soon as I saw Hogan's pop and entrance. I figured that was the best Hogan was going to be and it sounds about right.

It felt like everyone brought their A game to the show and it actually looked like Joe was having fun for the first time in awhile. I just hope they can keep this going.

I read the exact opposite vis a vis ticket sales. According to Jason Powell of prowrestling.net the reason TNA didn't have the same stage setup as they usually do is because they would have to turn away fans that bought tickets to the event and they didn't wanna alienate them. I read they sold the vast majority of the tickets. TNA is much more popular in the UK than they are in the states.

Where the hell did you read that?? I really would like to know because that sounds like something that someone's pulled out of thin air. The UK tours are by far TNA's biggest money-spinners in terms of live events. I honestly wouldn't be surprised if, due to the ticket prices and attendances, a single UK tour brings in more revenue than TNA's domestic house show business for an entire year.

The ticket sales for the UK tour were massive even before they announced the TV tapings and/or Hogan. As soon as the tapings and Hogan were announced I'm fairly sure every date on the tour (or at the very least the London date) were confirmed as legit sell-outs, which ties in to Brian's post above about the stage set-up.

I have to double check, but I think it was on Wrestlezone. They said they had to give 8,000 tickets to make to fill it up.

According to spike.com, the show's title was either "Impact Invasion" or "London Brawling". The latter reminds me of the short lived Wolfe/Magnus team. I miss Wolfe.

I found the show to be pretty much perfect. I loved all of the matches. There is something about Storm that makes all of his singles matches feel like big deals. Roode is excellent at being the Heel Champion. Bully Ray was great with his rib breaking threats. The cricket bat for Sting was fun.

I enjoyed how Taz spent most of Haskins/Aries ragging on Haskins' promo about the UK being the place to go to wrestle. Taz focusing on that so much felt out of place, but it worked for me.

Magnus and Joe won a match!

It was nice to see Hogan again. For the Star Wars Impact next week (!) Bischoff should make like Vader and crush Garrett Bischoff Skywalker's hand. While Obi-Won Hogan teaches the way of the Force.
