Tonight’s Impact was a very slight upgrade over last weeks show, but that’s not saying much. There was too much time spent on the Bischoff Family feud which is a total waste of time an is unwatchable. The fact that the entire show was built around the Bischoffs showdown is ridiculous. Nobody cares about Garrett Bischoff. Anytime Eric Young and Robbie E is on the the show it won’t be too good. Garrett Bischoff and Jeff Hardy came out of the show looking like the companies biggest baby faces. Yikes.

Karen Angle is just a blight on the Knockouts division. I have no idea why Karen is still knockouts law since you know Dixie has taken over control of TNA and gave it to Sting and they’re not even bothering explaining why she still has control.

The opening segment was fine but Joe being in a #1 contenders match made no sense since he’s nothing but a jobber these days. Storm even mentioned all the loses Joe’s piled up. I mean if they were gonna throw Joe in a #1 contenders match why didn’t they have him win his match at BFG.Sting never explained why Joe was getting a shot at the #1 contender ship or why Roode had to wrestle for it. BTW I absolutely hate Storm’s new theme music.

Daniels’ mic work before his match Vs RVD was pretty funny as he said he never quit and Styles used video to distort his voice and to say he quit. Daniels’ match vs RVD didn’t last too long and was a bit disjointed and RVD seemed to mail it in as usual. The finish was silly with Daniels going for the screwdriver yet again. The Daniels-Styles feud will continue and RVD thrown in.

Gail Kim Vs Tara was a promising match up, but it was a glorified squash. It was a nice showcase for Gail and it’s nice to see a heel go over clean, but I would have liked to a competitive match with the same finish. Tara is so underutilized in TNA. She and Gail could really help rebuild the knockouts division.

The Eric Young Vs Robbie E was over in a minute and the post match beat down by Rob Terry and Robbie E will lead to another appearance by a Jersey Shore grease spot this time Ronnie and we’ll get a mat classic between Robbie E and Terry Vs Young and Ronnie. Young’s look and act is so bush league and next week the jersey shore guy will just add to it. Dixie’s obsession with reality show stars is tiresome. I rather see an X division match instead of this dreck, but the X division is made up of four guys and four minute matches every two weeks.

The First Bischoff showdown at the top of the hour set records in pipped in noise. It was hilarious how the camera went to a wide angle and nobody was booing. The fact that they gave this crap not one but two segments is pretty unbelievable and for it to close the show instead of the #1 contenders match tell you how much power Bischoff has and how we better get ready for his son to be shoved down our throats.

Hardy Vs Bully Ray was a solid enough match. I do wish the match would have gotten more time and Jarrett’s mic time would have been cut. He has talked more than enough the last few weeks. Anderson saving Hardy from a post match beat down considering their history may not make total sense, but it was more of a running in to get in a shot on his enemy Bully Ray. I would expect to see Bully Ray and Jarrett to face Anderson and Hardy at Turning Point. I would have no issue with Anderson and Hardy teaming up just cause it would keep em out of th main event picture for a while.

Roode Vs Joe was a solid match but only got 5-6 minutes because you know gotta save plenty of time for the showdown by the Bischoffs. I swear Bischoff wishes he was Vince McMahon and wants to have his family the centerpiece of the show much like the McMahon’s have been on WWE TV over the last decade plus. As far as Roode and Storm it’s bad enough that they’re rushing toward this match giving it away on free tv is ludicrous and why this company doesn’t make money.

All in all, not a particularly strong show. There was much more Wrestling and the second hour was better than the first, but there was way too much Bischoffs and the fact that the show was built around Eric and his kid annoyed me and hurt my enjoyment of the show.

Unintentional shoot from Mike Tenay during the main-event beatdown - "Taz, this is hard to watch." Yeah, no kidding.

Bischoff tried hard to make that watchable, but his son is a black hole when it comes to charisma. Flair's promo was completely over the top, and not in a good way. There's no real reason why Flair (or anyone else, for that matter) should give a damn about Bischoff's family issues.

The rest of the show was just there, kind of. They finally got new themes for Storm and Roode, though neither is standout. They both have the same titantron (universaltron? impactron?), though.

Borash botched the little sponsor's announcement before the Roode/Joe match, and TNA, as usual, kept it in. It makes me wonder sometimes whether TNA pay attention to their own show.

Still, this was a better overall effort than last week and they did a decent job of setting up a few matches, including the big title match and the Hardy/Anderson v Immortal tag for next week. Here's to hoping the main event can actually go past the double-digit minute mark next week.

The Wrestling Counter: 22 minutes.

Garrett Bischoff reminds me a lot of David Flair and Erik Watts. Those two guys sure contributed a lot to the Wrestling business. I wish they would have just kept him as a ref instead of him becoming a wrestler and wrestling his dad or as rumored teaming up with Hogan against Flair and his dad down the road.

With Kurt Angle off TV and (presumably...) getting help and Jeff Hardy at least tied down with Jeff Jarrett... I think I can put my boycott of the show on pause for a while till I see what happens.

Ric Flair better be getting paid cash in hand before walking out of the curtain cause this shit with Bischoff's kid is terrible. I'm guessing that it's payback for Bischoff trying to give David Flair a shot back in WCW. In this case, does this mean that Garrett will start having the sexy times with Velvet Sky? (David Flair was banging Stacy Keibler.) NO! Don't think of it that way. I kinda liked Erik Watts.

Am I the only one around here who misses Don West? Mike Tenay is terrible. Taz is probably drunk.

Throwing Samoa Joe into a #1 contenders match reminded of when Austin kept getting Bradshaw as his tag partner. Here's this big guy who should be a game changer and kill some bitches... but he's kinda useless right now. Before I get called a hater for this, let me remind you that I love me the Samoa Joe and have been a fan of his since he first showed up in TNA. Samoa Joe is awesome, however right now... he's basically useless.

This is why TNA can't build bigger ratings. Hardy/Anderson v Immortal and Storm/Roode should be main event PPV matches with the viewers willing to shell out money on. TNA decides to give them BOTH away on free TV next week. What this tells me is that TNA thinks that it's own matches are not worth paying for and that they don't have faith in their product. I bet we'll get a huge Garrett Bischoff match on the next PPV though!

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

I know that West wasn't Gordon Solie or something but I liked him. He's certainly better then Mike Tenay, who just annoys me to NO end. I normally like Taz, but I feel that he's only good when he has someone good to work with - and Tenay or TNA ain't it.

The best part about randomly throwing Joe in a #1 contenders match is that the other two people that were in his match at Bound for Glory, which was, according to Tenay during the commentary, for the number one contendership spot, weren't even mentioned. Thanks for playing Crimson and Morgan (not that I want to see them in the title picture, of course).

I love how they get the two people, Robbie E and Rob Terry, that no one cares about and put them in a program with some second rate Jersey Shore person that doesn't get mainstream attention. Smell the ratings!

I guess it beats the 7 minutes of wrestling we got last week!

TNA is at least getting me to watch the shows again, even if I FFwd through a lot.

This week's show was better in a lot of ways. No Dixie, no Hogan, almost no Sting. The opening interview was a reasonable 10 minutes. Unfortunately, we still have the Bischoff and Jarrett families getting huge portions of the show.

-It is embarrassing to have two belts on Eric Young. Yeah, both titles are meaningless, but for someone flipping by, they see a bearded goof with two nice belts. Maybe Joe beats the hell out of him and creates his on title like Taz did with the FTW title. I dunno. I do know Young sucks.

-I don't mind Tenay as a straight man, but he sucks at selling angles. Personally, I'd rather have West come back and replace Taz. West was starting to hit a stride with his heel character before he got shipped off.

-Good main event, but too short. When I saw 20 minutes left in the show I was hoping for something special. But no, Bishoff and his kid. And it makes no sense for Flair to back up Bischoff.

It's bizarre how much we see him and his awesome beard with so little action in the ring. This might be a bigger head-scratcher than Storm beating Angle for the belt in two minutes.

Impact dropped to a 1.14 this week, so I expect Hogan to be making those type of comments to Dixie. BTW this years BFG Co headlined by Hogan saw a steep drop in buyrates from last years BFG according to Meltzer. I am sure it's Roode fault because he can't draw brother!

Maybe if we're lucky, Don West can come join Tenay and Taz and play the role of Mark Madden.

They kind of look and sound similar enough.

I figure TNA looks like 2000 era WCW any way, they might as well go for the trifecta.

(In all seriousness, I do like Don West and comparing him to Mark Madden was kind of a cheap shot. ;))

Horrible just horrible. The only bright spot was Gail Kim being back & the segment she was in. For a show that has "Wrestling Matters" all over the place, there was next to none at all. I really want the supposed new writing to kick in but being TNA, I have no doubt even they can't do anything at this point. I started actively watching again because the Knockouts were getting some attention and the X guys in general (Austin Aires in particular) but this was plain garbage. They have a talented roster, but their creative direction is the drizzling shits.

Everything minus a Russo/Hogan meltdown reminds me the last days of WCW. Focusing on celebrities, making matches about family members, trying to rejuvenate the fanbase with quick home grown talent champions and a total lack of focus of what is going on. The fact that signed Hogan up again makes no sense to me after the buyrate they just got from BFG. This company is a very weird place right now with their highest rating last week to one of their rather weak ones this weak. There is obviously interest out there, but they have no idea what to do with it.
