I thought tonight’s show was a mixed bag show with a weak first hour a much better second hour with two long really good matches, but a bad finish and another mind boggling decision to spit in the eye of the people that buy your PPV as small as a group as they deserve to get resolutions to PPV’s and not have the two top matches given away a few days later. When a company does that they pretty much tell he paying customer that they’re a idiot and you never wanna insult your audience. They clearly haven given up on PPV at on their non big PPV’s and are more about trying to pop a rating.
They show started with a pretty good Roode promo where he called out Hardy to congratulate Roode on beating Hardy and shake his hand if only Roode had actually beaten him this would have been a bit more effective instead he sounded like a delusional heel which was the intention I guess. I liked Roode old theme music with lyrics more than his new one. Sting’s promo setting up the Hardy-Roode rematch was too goofy me my tastes.
The Morgan-Crimson Vs Robbie T-Robbie E. Match was a squash and not a particularly good one. When Robbie E might be the best worker in the match it’s not gonna be pretty. The match was thankfully very short. I thought Crimson and Morgan pretty much shilling for direct auto before the match was pretty cheesy. I mean they already have a commercial for it. Joe and Magnus attacking Morgan and Crimson obviously means this feud will continue which I don’t mind that much as Jo and Magnus do have chemistry. My goodness is Crimson bad at selling.
The Bischoff segment was a total waste of time. You could have had a X division match in the time that Bischoff and his kid yammered on.Nah who wants to see that when we get get a segment with a relic like Bischoff and his talentless unover son? Gee I wonder who is training Garrett? I guess the Hogan-Garrett Vs Bischoff-Flair tag match is on for Lockdown. Yikes.
The ODB-Winter match was just a subplot to Eric Young’s ”comedy” I will admit Young giving Love the airplane spin when she tried to interfere was pretty funny. Man has Angelina fallen pretty far in the last year as she was doing pretty damn good when paired with Velvet and was a ratings draw, but Russo decided to break them up for the Winter hocus pocus storyline. That was a real winner. I can’t say I’m looking forward to a ODB-Young feud with Love and Winter.
The Daniels-Kaz-Styles segment was okay as Daniels was really good on the mic. It looks like Kaz is gonna play the reluctant heel Ala Tommy Dreamer a year or so ago when he was aligned with Bully Ray. I rather see Styles move onto something else maybe a feud with Aries and have Daniels and Kaz join the tag division and feud with The MCMG when they return.
Storm’s promo calling out Angle was really strong as he continues to be one of the best talkers in the business. Sting booking the match against a not really to fight Angle gives Angle something to complain about again.I thought it would have made more sense if Angle wrestled in his street clothes as he said he wasn’t at the show to wrestle well then why did he bring his gear with him? Anyway the match was really strong. It was slower paced than most Angle matches and he’s clearly protecting himself as he wants to give himself his best chance to make the Olympic team even if his chances of doing so are slim to none. Angle should never ever use the super kick again my goodness is it ugly. I really liked the finish to the match with Angle getting overconfident and Storm coming back with the codebreaker and super kick to finish it. I do question having Storm being the #1 contender this early as I wish they’d hold off on Storm and Roode facing off until Lockdown. I would guess Angle may be taking some more time off.
I didn’t like Roode’s backstage promo where he was in full chickenshit heel mode and Bully Ray kept mentioning twitter. I also don’t like that Roode has become such a chickenshit heel that the biggest weenie in the world Tenay pretty much calls him a chickenshit heel. Roode when he was being pushed going into BFG went over everyone clean and looked like a beast now he’s just another chickenshit heel.
Roode VS Hardy was a very good match with a terrible finish that made Roode look like the most undeserving champion in the world. I would have liked to see him be more in control during the match, but Hardy was in full pissed off baby face mode so it made sense that he controlled the majority of the match until he took a sick bump into the guardrail where he probably tore himself a new asshole. The lead up to the finish with the near falls and the closes finishes and reversals, but the finish with Hardy having Roode down and out and for Rood only to be saved by Bully Ray sucked. Roode looks like a loser who can’t beat anyone. I still don’t understand why Bully Ray all of a sudden is Roode’s protector. I sure hope this doesn’t lead to Roode joining Immortal. Good lord would that be awful. I just wish they’d get back to pushing Roode strongly but that doesn’t look like it’s gonna happen and that’s unfortunate.
All in all a fairly frustrating show with two really good matches, but a weak first hour and a bad finish that doesn’t do anything for Roode ad surely doesn’t make him look like a star. They did get Storm back on track tonight a bit but you can make the point that him beating a not ready Angle was needlessly protecting Angle.
I thought it was an ok show. James/Kurt maybe one of the best matches we have gotten in awhile from this company. It made James look good and it ended the storyline. Yes, they may have pissed off people who bought the PPV, but that is nothing new. Shit, we have had Mania rematches that were better on Raw than at Mania, some in the main event ie Cena/HBK. The other point that is made about doing it on TV is there are more viewers watching. So, why not make James a star when a million plus watch instead of when maybe 10,000 watch. TNA really doesn't give a shit about the PPVs. It also doesn't shock me to see WWE thinking about giving away the non-big 4 PPVs when they make their network debut this year. PPVs unless you are UFC or Mania are pretty dead right now.
While I agree the Bischoff shit is taking time for other wrestlers, its not that bad. What do you expect from a green wrestler? At least Bischoff was honest in his promo of using people when he was making millions. That was a nice touch. Yes, they should be using Austin Aries more, but at the end of the day, its at least a storyline going somewhere. Unlike Bobby/Hardy which is going into rematch hell. I know what they are trying to do with Bobby, but its not what they should be doing with him. Also, I know the girls scream loud for Hardy, but it doesn't mean he is over or should be in the main event after his past.
I really wish they would get the Beautiful People back together and run rough shot over the division. EY's comedy is terrible and ODB who I do love since she can usually turn shit to watchable sometimes, is being wasted here. Gail is a good champ, but they are never going to recover from losing Kong.
AJ/Daniels/Kaz is just there and while I think we are going to get great matches, the storyline I question. Also, when has Daniels won anything in this company? The rest of the show was there with a nice squash match for the tag champs. If anything, I do enjoy Sting in his role and he seems to be having fun with it. At least he is not Joker anymore.

Twitter: @realjoecarfley its a bit more toned down there. A bit.
And while I'm on the subject...I really don't hate Garett. He cut a decent promo last night and while it's obvious he's still green in the ring and probably shouldn't be on national TV yet, at least he's not green in the same way that Rob Terry is.

Doing a rematch of the PPV main event that had a non-conclusive finish to set up said rematch and a rematch of the PPV semi-main with an added stip that was only announced ~4 minutes in advance tonight was some short sighted booking. Overall, I thought the show was a bit underwhelming. I found the 1st hour to be mostly worthless, however, things turned around starting with the Storm promo.
Morgan/Crimson vs. Robbie's was a nothing match, which was for the best since a longer match could have been a disaster. I question having the TV Champ eat the pin instead of Terry.
I still have no interest in the Bischoff family feud and think it doesn't deserve the TV time it gets. Garett should be in OVW, not getting a big push on national TV.
I like the idea of a Daniels/Kazarian heel team. I dislike the idea of AJ & Daniels feuded again and TNA seemingly doing a twist on the bad Tommy Dreamer heel turn storyline they did right before his exit. This storyline isn't grabbing me.
The Storm promo was great. Storm/Angle wasn't as good as their Impact match a few months ago, but was still a good TV match. Why'd Storm lose at the PPV if they were just going to do a rematch 4 days later where Storm would become #1 contender?
The main event was a good TV match, but kind of underdelivered for a World Title main event. While the finish hurt the match, I didn't mind that much since it meant that it didn't screw over the fans who bought the PPV as much as last month's TV overtime match did.
It's too bad they couldn't have found room for an X match or Aries promo of some sort. If you can find room for recap videos of the Young/ODB relationship and the Garett storyline, you should be able to find room for a recap of the X title match from the PPV so people at least know who's the champ, unless I missed it.

Fair point about them not caring about PPV's and the disparity between PPV's which draw eight to ten thousand viewers vs Impact which draws 1.7 viewers. They could use Impact as a means to draw better buyrates but they've clearly given up on PPV at least the non big three PPVs like Lockdown, Slammiversary and Lockdown.
I loved Hardy vs Roode (until the ending) and Storm vs Angle. I liked the anger Angle showed after Storm used the Ankle Lock on him.
I was glad to see Bully Ray continuing to talk himself up as a world title contender. After his loss to Abyss I was concerned that the prophecy of "World Champion Bully Ray" might have been averted. Thank goodness he is back on track.
Kazarian turning on AJ was a needed development for Kaz's character. It will be interesting to see what happens with AJ after his feud with the Fortune-remnants is over.
Smackdown comes to us from San Diego, California! And so who better to welcome us to the show this week than Rey Mysterio, making his triumphant return from nearly a year off due to injuries (and a drug suspension, but who's counting?).
