Tonight's Impact is, according to the opening video package, NOT FOR THE FAINT OF HEART.

Sure enough, it opens with Sting, Kurt Angle, and Scott Steiner in the ring -- Sting calls out Jeff Jarrett and mocks his lack of leadership -- "who's in charge, you or Mick Foley?" I am amused that TNA is riffing on what some of us have complained about -- a proliferation of authority figures with no asertainable boundaries.

Anyway, Sting goads JJ into putting Foley into a match tonight -- the Motor City Machine Guns are out to offer their services, taking on Foley in a handicap match. Jeff is all like, "fine." It's nice to see the Guns mixing it up with the Main Eventers.

Jeremy Borash is with Foley in the back -- Foley says he's going to "tweak" that match a little bit, and Borash is totally baffled.

After the break, JJ tells Foley to "tweak" the match however he wants -- way to be in control, Jeff! Then Jarrett takes a private meeting with Steiner...I'm going to guess that's a red herring.

Abdul Bashir vs. Suicide: This is non-title, and Bashir has Kiyoshi and No Limit with him. So-so match. Bashir almost gets a pin with a weird thing that looks a little like an interrupted Sunset Flip -- Suicide is belly-to-Bashir's-back, upside down, head between Bashir's legs, and Bashir sits down on him -- Suicide kicks out at two. Interference rears its head as No Limit distract the ref while Kiyoshi kicks Suicide in the head. Bashir hits the WMD onto the X Title belt for the three, handing Suicide his first defeat.

Bashir is one of the four challengers in Lockdown's Xcape match (April 19 on PPV!), along with Kiyoshi, Jay Lethal, and Consequences Creed -- as Mike Tenay points out, it's basically Suicide vs. two tag teams.

Rhino is backstage with Petty Oficer Jesse Neal (myspace.com), the Navy guy from a couple of PPVs ago who did ring intros and kinda got into things with Bashir. Neal tells the story of how he was on the USS Cole (en.wikipedia.org) when it was attacked by terrorists and his best friend was killed. Since they both loved pro wrestling, Rhino's going to train Neal, and Neal's going to dedicate his career to his buddy. They both sob a little. The story is legit, but this was kinda creepy. I hope, at least, that his buddy really did love wrestling.

The Beautiful People attack Raisha Saeed and cut her hair!

Rough Cuts with Team 3D.

Tenay talks to Sting and I continue to FFWD.

Lauren is pissed about the beatdown that Dr. Stevie laid on Abyss last week, and says that she's coming along next time. Abyss whimpers.

Mick Foley is out and he complains that his children love the Motor City Machine Guns, and both Dewey and Huey (wait -- seriously?) have cut their hair like Alex Shelley. (Could've been worse -- could've been Sabin.) He makes the match a First Blood match so that "no one will want to look like Alex Shelley ever again."

Booker is in the back and I'm not sure that there will be any more wrestling tonight.

Oh, wait, here's Booker T vs. Samoa Joe in round two of the Lethal Lockdown Advantage matches (best 2 out of 3). Joe doesn't seem to have his Tribal Knife with him but he is still wearing his "Nation of Violence" Zubaz. Joe drops Booker with punches. Booker can only get the upper hand when Kurt Angle helps, tripping Joe from the outside. Angle tries to give Booker a steel chair, but AJ Styles runs down and takes it away. Booker kicks Joe in the stomach and goes for the Ax Kick -- NO, Joe turns it into a snap slam -- for the pin! Holy cow, Booker got SQUASHED.

ODB and Cody Deaner are enjoying their date at Universal Studios. Much like ODB, a little Deaner goes a long way. Let's get him in the ring, now.

More 3D Rough Cuts.

MCMG cut a promo for their match -- Sting's going to be ringside enforcer, but they warn him that he doesn't want a ticket to "the Gun Show."

Scott Steiner vs. James Storm: Seconded by Kevin Nash and Robert Roode, respectively. This would've been a tag match but Nash isn't cleared to wrestle (shock!). Okay for what it is -- Beer Money work best as a team, and Steiner, like him though I do, is Steiner -- until Nash interferes for the DQ. Ensuing MEM beatdown ends prematurely when Team 3D chases Nash and Steiner off in a mirror image of last week.

Velvet Sky & Madison Rayne vs. Awesome Kong: Kong still seems off, and she's up against the lesser-talented two-thirds of the Beautiful People. Kong pins Sky while Rayne is conferring with Angelina Love. After the match, The Beautiful People try to cut Kongs hair, but Taylor Wilde (!?) makes the save (?!).

Jeff Jarrett says that the fourth member of his Lethal Lockdown team is "a former TNA champion" and he'll announce who it is next week. OMG SHAMROCK IS BACK

Mick Foley vs. MCMG: First Blood! MCMG do nicely double-teaming Foley (the double suicide dive was quite nice, as was Sabin's missile dropkick from the apron to the floor) until Sabin makes the mistake of mocking Special Enforcer Sting and eats a Scorpion Death Drop for his impudence. Foley Mandible Claws Shelley -- is that blood on the sock? The ref wants to call the match but Foley won't let him, because he wants to bust Shelley wide open.

Foley gets his barbed wire bat and goes after Shelley with it, but Sting CRACKS Foley in the head with a chair, busting him open, and THAT ends the match.

Sting and Foley engage in fisticuffs and we're done. Kind of weak compared to the last few weeks but we got some good storyline advancement towards Lockdown.

You have this option? No wonder you take it easier on the show than I do!

That move sounds like a safer version of Bull's Poseidon. I didn't see this match. Did they make a big deal out of the fact that this was Suicide's first loss?

I too enjoyed the MCMG's (probably) brief flirt with the main eventers.

Was there any real point to this? I'm as giddy as the next guy to see Joe wrestling again, instead of being...stupid, but what was the point of a squash over Booker, and a non-clean one at that?

And what the hell was the deal with Angle commenting on Joe's "Tribal Manslaughter"? Are they admitting that he;s killed people with that fuckin sling blade of his? Wtf, mate?

I found the main event to be OK, made so mostly by the efforts of the MCMG. Not surprising, I know. What I caught of the show was horrible, though like K says, the storyline advancement towards the PPV next weekend was alright.

This was another part of the show I failed to catch. But over on 411 (411mania.com) they're reporting "Former World Champion from another organization" and not just "Former TNA Champion", leading, of course, to rampant speculation about either Tazz or RVD.

I had to look up "Bull's Poseidon" -- on Wikipedia (en.wikipedia.org), they mention a "Sunset Driver" in relation to it -- the "Sunset Driver" sounds exactly like what Bashir did.

No big deal was made, but then Suicide hasn't actually had a big win streak or anything.

what was the point of a squash over Booker, and a non-clean one at that?
To try and establish Joe as an actual wrestling threat again, which I think is long overdue. Joe is at his best when he's a no-nonsense killing machine. Also, despite how it reads, it was clean -- no one got hit by the chair, no one took advantage of anyone else being distracted.

I think this is two different people: the "former TNA champion" who JJ says is joining his team and will be announced next week, and the "former world champ from another organization" who was hyped on, I think, the phone hotline deal, and who might show up at Lockdown.

I accidently got spoiled for the former; it's

The latter could be anyone, since "world champ" applies to tag champions, hardcore champs, whatever. It could apply to Ayako Hamada (en.wikipedia.org), Gran Hamada's daughter, who has reportedly signed and who has held a number of championships. That's who I'm predicting.

I missed that bit, but it couldn't have been worse than the Rhino & the sailor skit ... could it?

Worse in a different way. ODB was actually kind of subdued, as if she was embarrassed by how over-the-top Deaner was. So imagine that.

So I decided to try and find out if there's a way to submit an idea (specifically, my "Mattitude" logo) to WWE for their consideration. Besides their show feedback forums, there didn't seem to be much.
