We start this week's show with Abyss, who wants Mick Foley in a match -- a Monster's Ball match -- at Bound for Glory. Mick Foley is out to retort, but Abyss cuts him off, running down a list of his own accomplishments to show that he's not a "cheap knockoff." It's weird hearing Abyss use the word "accolades." Abyss says that Foley's the real knockoff, since he's only half the man he used to be. Foley backs way down and in a show of -- I guess -- respect, cancels the $50,000 bounty on Abyss' head.

Foley accepts the match as well but then decides to TWEAK it a little -- first he bans the use of thumbtacks (but not barbed wire or broken glass?), and then he introduces the Special Referee -- Dr. Stevie! Stevie is out with Daffney, who for some reason is wearing a tiny sparkly red top hat, cocked at a rakish angle.

Dr. Stevie verbally runs down Abyss, who responds by grabbing Stevie in a two-handed choke -- Daff goes for the low blow, and Stevie and Foley team up on Abyss until Matt Morgan runs in for the save, for some reason -- oh, I guess he and Abyss are tag teaming tonight. Okay!

Jeremy Borash is with the World Elite. Eric Young says they're the new dominant force in TNA.

Borash now is with Kurt Angle, who disputes Young's claim. Angle puts a $30,000 bounty on Young's head.

Hernandez vs. Kevin Nash: This is for the Legends Championship, and is not very good -- Hernandez can't really do his big power moves and Nash is Nash. Young comes in after a couple of minutes and surprises Hernandez with a piledriver (on his surgically repaired neck, as Mike Tenay reminds us). Young hands the Legends title to Nash -- this is clearly Young trying to preempt Nash's love of money in regards to the bounty, which is a nice touch.

In another nice bit of continuity, Abyss and Morgan are backstage addressing their past -- agreeing to trust each other tonight, but it's not going to lead to them being best friends again.

Young meets Nash backstage and offers to double Kurt's bounty if Nash agrees to a favor. Young is scheduled to take on Hernandez at Bound for Glory, but he'll pay off Nash if Nash agrees to put his title on the line and make it a three-way match -- a match that TNA won't be able to resist agreeing to. Then they can team up on Hernandez, and Nash keeps the title and is $60,000 richer. Clever!

Amazing Red vs. Samoa Joe: Like last week -- when Red won this X Division Title shot -- Red's already in the ring. Match starts and Bobby Lashley is down almost immediately, and Joe is distracted enough to allow Red to get some kicks in. Joe counters with the STJoe, and then goes over to discuss matters with Lashley. Earl Hebner's trying to get Lashley to leave, but Joe wants Lashley to come on into the ring. Hebner figures it's Joe's funeral and allows it.

Lashley comes in and quickly gets the upper hand. He hands Joe a Full Nelson Slam and leaves. Red capitalizes with the Infrared (540° corkscrew senton) and the Red Star Press (running Shooting Star Press) and -- OMG -- gets the pin and the X Division belt! Joe makes a hilarious series of Rodney Dangerfield faces.

Daniels & Suicide vs. D'Angelo Dinero & Homicide: Homicide's in a stable with like a dozen other guys but he's teaming with the Pope? Okay, these four guys are having an Ultimate X match at BfG for the X Division #1 contender-ship. Is the actual title going to be defended at the PPV?

Tenay says that Homicide has been swearing in Spanish the last couple of weeks -- he issues an apology and assures us that Homicide has been fined. Pretty standard X stuff until Homicide bugs out and charges out to the Spanish Announce Table to go after Willie Urbina -- I suspect that he thinks Willie stooged him out to the brass.

Daniels has his way with Dinero, putting him down with the STO and going for the BME -- Homicide's back and grabs Daniels' foot. Suicide pulls Homicide off but Daniels is distracted, allowing Dinero to hit the DDE and get the pin.

Nash and Angle are in the back and Angle is peeved. He explains that it doesn't matter that Young offered double the money -- Nash is part of the Mafia, and shouldn't even be considering side offers! Nash, Tufnelesque, is all "but he offered double."

Contract signing between the British Invasion, Team 3D, Beer Money, and Booker & Steiner. There's going to be a ladder match at Bound for Glory, with two sets of belts up for grabs -- the TNA Tag belts and the IWGP belts. If you grab a belt, your team wins those titles. Assumably, two different teams can win the two different titles, or the same team could win both if they hustle. Anyway, a fight breaks out; Devon gets put through a table and Robert Roode falls off a ladder and the Brits take out the MEM and stand tall at the end.

The Beautiful People, Alisa Flash Traci Brooks & vs. Sarita & Taylor Wilde & Christy Hemme & Hamada: This is an elimination tag match. It's odd seeing Traci getting the better of Hamada. Hamada tags out to Christy, who gets a weird headlock using her leg, and holding on to her own ankle. I always like seeing moves I've never seen before. Brooks counters into the on-the-shoulder jawbreaker and eliminates Hemme.

Flash comes in but ends up brawling with Hamada to the back -- they have a bit of history -- and they're both counted out. Tenay and Taz namedrop Vince Russo, making this the second show in a row with a Russo presence. Velvet Sky takes out Wilde with a spike DDT -- huh, I don't remember seeing Sky hit a finisher on anyone before.

Traci is in and so is Sarita -- Traci goes for the jawbreaker but Sarita counters into a belly-to-belly suplex (not overhead) and eliminates Traci. Rayne and Sky double team Sarita but she's able to trap Sky in a small package and Sky's out. Sarita almost gets Rayne the same way, but no. Alisa Flash is down to argue with the ref about being counted out -- in the confusion Lacey Von Erich comes in and chokeslams Sarita, allowing Rayne to get the final pin and the win.

Sting's out to cut a promo -- basically, he'll be giving it his all at Bound for Glory, and if he doesn't feel like he's given it his all, he won't be lacing up the boots again. Angle's out now and says that Sting should just retire now so that Angle can step into the title shot at BfG -- Angle deserves it, anyway, since Sting handed Styles the victory at No Surrender. They face off -- security tries to break it up, but Styles snags an Ankle lock until AJ Styles chases him off. Angle suggests they meet next week and Styles accepts.

AJ tells Lauren that he has a lot to prove, because he knows that Sting handed him the title, and that's why he's facing Angle at the next Impact.

The Motor City Machine Guns are out to debut their new entrance music, because their old theme, as Shelley says, made Consequences Crees throw up last week. Their new song starts and it sounds pretty generic and sucky to me. Samoa Joe puts a stop to this, coming down the ramp and tossing Shelley and Sabin aside like used tissue paper on his way down.

Joe calls out Lashley, who complies, and they fight out to the Spanish Announce Table -- working double duty this show. Joe lays Lashley out on top of the table, climbs up a scaffold, and elbowdrops Lashley through the table. In addition, the table is set up on top of a platform, and the table top and Lashley slide off of that and tumble to the floor. That last part may have been unplanned.

Tara vs. ODB: Our third title match of the night, and another nothing match as Kong comes down with a sledgehammer and tries to destroy Poison (she makes So Cal Val grab Poison's box and put it on the floor). ODB takes advantage of the distraction and TKOs Tara for the win.

Abyss & Matt Morgan vs. Mick Foley and Kurt Angle: Abyss is face-in-peril for most of the match. He finally reverses the Angle Slam into Shock Treatment and tags out to Morgan. Abyss and Angle go out to the floor. Foley goes for Socko but Abyss is back in with Foley's barbed wire bat -- Foley runs away and right into the Carbon Footprint and that's a pin.

And there's the show. I miss that brief period of "more power to the refs." Four out of six of the matches tonight ended with direct interference or distractions from run-ins (and the other two ended due to distractions from tag team members), giving the whole show a very, very repetitive feel. I felt like there was a lot of angle development going on, but looking back, I don't think anything really gt advanced in any way. Water treading show.

Global Impact was on next, but it's late and I'm not going to recap it. MCMG vs. No Limit was fun, though.

Next week's Impact is THREE HOURS, which means I'll be half-assing the recap even more than usual.

My favorite part was Daffney giving Abyss a groin shot and then adjusting her little hat. I was waiting for Lauren to defend her man and was disappointed she didn't even try.

So, in the Nash Loves Money Angle, doesn't he get the 60k for working the match, and then, since Young is in the match, has the opportunity to get the 30 k on top? That would be tripling the money.

That was a pretty good promo from Abyss to start off the show. Abyss vs Foley in Monster's Ball should be golden. It sells itself. So of course, they overbook the fuck out of it before the match even begins. Banning the tacks was stupid enough. Introducing Stevie as the special referee was complete overkill. It was at that point that I hit the stop button on my DVR, turned off the TV and gave up.

Where did Eric Young get $60,000? I mean, I have no clue how much money wrestlers actually make but if Kurt Angle, who has been at the top of the wrestling world (and not just TNA) is ponying up $30,000 for a bounty then how can EY, who has never even been above midcard on TNA, afford to give away $60,000 for a little favor? I always imagined that EY used every last penny he had just to buy his suit and get a haircut.

If Sabin or Shelley doesn't have a match next week in a THREE hour Impact then, well, I'm not sure how much longer I can watch.

Well, he has friends in high places. He's among the World Elite, of course!

All joking aside, I have no idea. Maybe he has a mysterious Saudi benefactor or something. There's never really any logic in pro wrestling storylines.

Maybe Young simply has no intention of paying. Nash should've asked for half up front.

Or maybe Angle could afford more and just didn't feel like offering it.

The Knockouts match was WWE Diva level, in the derogatory sense. The girls who could work had to move at half-capacity at best to carry the girls who can't.

I thought it was funny when Traci pinned Christy with that horrible move that neither she hit nor Christy sold properly and Traci said, "My Playboy was better than yours!" Really? That's quite a feat when Traci never even made it in the magazine.

I believe the storyline was as follows: Eddie Guerrerro was having an issue with Eric Bischoff, and so decided to form his own faction, the Latino World Order, where he recruited pretty much all of the Luchadors.
