I thought this was a fun show!

It's now in HD, and the Impact Zone has some changes -- foremost is that there's only one ramp now. There's an entrance tunnel on either side at the top, with a large video screen between them. Looks pretty good.

AJ Styles and Samoa Joe are out to say that they will fight their own war against the Main Event Mafia -- who's with them? Out comes Jay Lethal, followed by Consequences Creed, Petey Williams, Eric Young, ODB (!), and, finally, the Motor City Machine Guns. The Guns aren't sure about this -- Joe doesn't care about any of them -- and Joe ends up slapping Alex Shelley.

Out come the Main Event Mafia themselves -- Kurt Angle, Booker T, Kevin Nash, and Sting (suit, shades, no makeup) -- stopping the in-ring kerfuffle before it starts. They say the same stuff -- they deserve respect, etc. -- and that "it's all about THE FIVE." Who is the fifth member? Mystery!

The Beautiful People vs. Christy Hemme & ODB: Last week's kick-off match was SO AWESOME that they decided to start with Sky and Hemme again this week! This is better than that match, with the tag format covering up for their deficiencies. ODB wins with a sort of sit-out Rock Bottom.

The Motor City Machine Guns tell Joe they're on his side; Joe would like to see some evidence of that.

James Storm vs. Eric Young: Storm has Robert Roode and Jacqueline with him -- wow, Jackie is wearing a casual grey suit tonight and her hair's down and she looks really nice. Eric makes a point of not being scared by his entrance pyro. IT'S A BRAND NEW DAY! Short match that ends in a rollup by Eric when Roode accidentally spits beer in Storm's face.

Beer Money jumps Young immediately, but the MMG put their money where their mouths are and chase them off!

We get a video package for the Knockout Division -- there's Rhaka Khan, there's Traci...but no Roxxi ANYWHERE, which is weird.

But here's Roxxi now -- she and Taylor Wilde are looking for Awesome Kong. Roxxi's new gimmick is she JUST CAN'T STOP SWEARING.

Here's another package for Suicide -- are they really going to run these until NEXT YEAR when Kaz is healed?

Roxxi & Wilde (with weapons) ambush Kong and Raisha Saeed -- they'll have a tag match next week.

Hiroshi Tanahashi and Volador vs. The Motor City Machine Guns: Wow, Tanahashi looks EXACTLY like an anime character. Volador (representing CMLL) has kinda sucky ring gear. The Guns are ALL OVER this week's show -- and they even get a WIN in this fun little match -- Chris Sabin gets Volador up on his shoulders, and then Shelley hits a DOUBLE FOOT STOMP to Volador's HEAD -- and then CRADLE SHOCK!

Ha, that was awesome. This is more like what the X Division should be doing. Hooray talent exchange! And MMG push (maybe)!

Abdul Bashir -- who was on commentary, rightly asserting that he's an American and Rhino is a moron -- is STUNNED by this result, and berates Volador until Rhino comes out and GORES him.

Samoa Joe & AJ Styles vs. Booker T and Kevin Nash: This was pretty good, considering Nash, and had some nice stuff -- there was a Styles/Booker segment where Styles kept going over to hit Nash, finally kicking him in the head as Nash was trying to get up and leaving him motionless on the canvas. Ha ha! Samoa Joe plays the face in peril, surprisingly. Ending sequence is really cool, as Nash breaks up Styles's armbar on Booker with a headbutt -- gets Booker to hold Styles, but before Nash can attack, Joe grabs him in the Coquina Clutch! Booker goes for the axe kick on Styles, but AJ dodges that and then hits the Pele -- for the win! Yeah!

Foley is out to talk. He announces Joe vs. Nash at Turning Point, as well as Styles vs. Sting for the title. Sting is out blah blah respect blah.

Abyss vs. Kurt Angle: Not bad -- not as good as the last match, but still. Abyss is overpowering -- Angle bails out once, twice -- third time he goes for the chair, lays it upside Abyss's head, and that's a DQ.

Angle goes for the Anklelock -- Abyss fights it off and Angle starts raking Abyss's burned back! Ha ha! Matt Morgan is out for the save -- wow, that's a REALLY NICE Carbon Footprint to Angle's face. Booker and Nash are back out -- but so are the Young Lions! Coming out behind them is SCOTT STEINER, lead pipe and all! He starts laying out the TNA Originals mercilessly -- except for Petey Williams! They sorta flinch at each other -- Petey doesn't quite seem sure what to do.

Finally, Sting -- still in suit and shades -- is out. He kindly helps AJ Styles to his feet -- and that rapscallion SPITS IN HIS FACE. Scorpion Death Drop for Styles! Wow, even in the midst of all this, Sting is still reluctant to be a heel. DO IT, STING. (First thing -- he should drop the makeup entirely. He looks like a total dick without makeup. Then, when he finally appears with makeup again, he'll get a HUGE pop.)

And the MAIN EVENT MAFIA stands tall.

I really enjoyed this show. Miles better than last week.

THE FIVE is a much better name than Main Event Mafia. It's too soon after the VKM for that word to pop up again.

I still don't have Spike HD, but I do like the set changes too. That was a good show, and the main story continues to be intriguing, with the seemingly tweener status of almost everyone involved. Plus you have guys like Cage and the Guns on the fringes, not knowing where their alliances truly lie.

I know not many people care about Rhino, but he should be given more to do than feud with Bashir. He is STILL one of the most over guys on the roster. It seems he could at least answer Samoa Joe's call to arms in the opening promo.

Please, just don't let #5 be Jarrett. That would make no sense whatsoever. Cage would be too obvious, but I just can't think of anyone else, unless it is someone new. Or Foley? I am sure they don't know yet either.

So have we seen the last of Super Eric? I hope so. And as much as I enjoy Curry Man, Christopher Daniels absolutely should be standing right beside Joe and AJ in this war. He is as big a part of TNA history as either of those guys.

Uh, check me if I'm wrong here, but isn't #5 Scott Steiner seeing as how he came out to help the Mafia?

You're not wrong. Unless I missed something, Steiner would be the 5th member.

They should have renamed the Flying Elvises and called them the Memphis Mafia.

The guitar riffs remind me of a Japanese video game, kinda like a boss fight, or something.

Awesome music for the Main Event whatevers, however. I hate the Mafia name.

The Fucking Mafia. Obviously they couldn't use that on tv so they could go with The F'N mafia, like ECW did when they wanted to say fucking.

MCMG getting a storyline, a real storyline makes me a very happy boy. Plus they faced a favorite of mine from All Japan Hiroshi Tanahashi(I loved when he made a motion to one of the women in the audience during his entrance, cheeky bastard). I wonder who went overseas to represent this time?

Didn't the WWE call Tajiri's stable the Yakuza? That was pretty lame, too.

Calling them The Five is stupid, too. The Five what? At least WCW had an adjective for their late main event stable. The MAGNIFICENT Seven. At least they had an identity!

Why couldn't THIS episode of iMPACT have been last weeks live show. This was easily the best show they've put on in years.

I fear Christopher Daniels might unmask himself as Curry Man and join Samoa Joe's group.

Eric Young was pretty awesome without the goofy gimmicks they keep giving him. I hope he stay's this way for a while.

I absolutely LOVED how Scott Steiner didn't hit Petey Williams. The WWE doesn't follow continuity like that.

This was just, from start to finish, a really great show last night.

Jeff Jarrett saying he had to go take a 'Kurt' will NEVER get old!

Forget it Josh... it's Cerebustown.

I thought they were the Millionaires Club?

The Main Event Mafia name isn't that great, but that is what they are. I do like that they are dressing the part, especially Sting who looks much cooler in a suit and shades than the very dated Crow get up. Booker's accent, while funny at first, doesn't fit this group, though.

But THE FIVE lends itself to the easy hand analogy (of WEB DuBois, I believe): Five fingers together tightly make a fist. You can use hand-themed logos to market it. I stand by THE FIVE. It has a good sound to it.

Their group name would be OK as simply The Main Event. "We're what people pay to see and what they talk about. We're The Main Event." It's simple and egotistical.

They threatened to, but Tajiri made them stop because apparently making fun of the Yakuza is a good way to get your family killed. Or something to that effect.

Clearly, they are better than the Four Horsemen by one. Now they need three more guys so as to surpass WCW's Magnificent Seven stable.

I would love if Booker showed up next week talking normally and Kurt asked:
"Whassup with your voice? You don't sound like yourself?"
Booker: "I had a sore throat."

and leave it at that.

The Millionaires Club vs New Blood happened in 2000. Magnificent Seven was at the end of WCW (Flair, Jarrett, Animal, Luger, Bagwell, Steiner, Steiner)

Good question. I remember at one point it seemed like everybody had crappy music, especially the X Division guys. But now that I think about it I don't hate many anymore except for the MCMG.

As Karlos (I think) said a week or so ago this could be a great feud if it ends in Rhino winning the X Division title. Not only would Rhino not be just feuding with a cruiserweight guy but the X Division title would no longer be just a cruiserweight division and maybe guys like Bashir would no longer be just a cruiserweight guy.

Plus Rhino is kind of in an odd position. Clearly he's not a TNA Original but I don't think he fits with the Five either. Maybe Christian will never take a side and he and Rhino can be neutral.

I'm kind of wishing James Storm was on the TNA Original side. He's entertaining enough to be a face and he's been in TNA since the beginning.
