Motor City Machine Guns vs. Sonjay Dutt & Abdul Bashir: Fun little match -- too short, of course --and it sees the MCMG actually win! I was, honestly, a little shocked when Alex Shelley pinned Dutt with a frog splash.

To make up for it, Kurt Angle comes out and tosses Shelley and Sabin around like rag dolls. There's an Angle Slam for Dutt, as well. Angle is going to beat up everyone until Jeff Jarret gives him a rematch!

Sting is out. Samoa Joe had him beat, but had to disrespect him, and due to Joe's arrogance, Sting ended up the new champ. Don West agree that Joe is bad. AJ Styles is out to refute this; Joe and AJ are the cement that holds this company together, while Sting is just the fancy chandelier. He namechecks both Low Ki and Christopher Daniels, two men, sadly, no longer with the company. Sting says that even though AJ has told him that AJ doesn't like his own dad, he's going to end up like his dad someday. Styles takes offense and SLAPS Sting; they end up brawling.

Angle is backstage, beating up the entire Prince Justice Brotherhood.

Booker and Sharmell say we'll find out what's in the briefcase NEXT WEEK -- can't wait? Check out what DirtyMikeSeaver has to say!

Booker T vs. Hernandez: Booker starts off strong, but Hernandez remains credible by mounting a comeback. H's got Booker up for the Border Toss when Sharmell distracts the ref; Booker kicks Hernandez in the junk and clobbers him in the head with the briefcase. That's enough for the pin.

Angle takes out the Rock 'n' Rave Infection -- hopefully Rave's presence means that his neck injury turned out to be okay.

Roxxi grants Lauren an interview -- she doesn't "give a [BLEEEEP] about Kong." Oh, Spike TV doesn't allow swearing? She doesn't "give a [BLEEEP] about Spike, either."

The Beautiful People mock and BEAT DOWN Christy Hemme for taking up TV time. Hm.

Angle comes down to the ring, grabs ring announcer Dave Penzer and WALES on him WITH HIS OWN SHOE. Jeff Jarrett comes out; Kurt STILL doesn't get a rematch. Kurt says maybe "Uncle Kurt" will go visit JJ's daughters (he does not suggest that he might "go bestial"). Jarrett is angered by this; I think we'll see that rematch after all.

Mick Foley is out to say goodbye. He says he loved "every minute" that he was here -- yeah, all five of them. I can't figure out why one of TNA's favorite storylines is "people want to leave the company." Jarrett is out again and requests a meeting with Mick.

Raisha Saeed vs. Roxxi: Saeed has Awesome Kong with her, of course. At one point Roxxi slides out to confront Kong; Kong clotheslines her down (with authority!) but Roxxi rallies and shoves her into the ringsteps, then goes back in the ring and hits Saeed with the Voodoo Cajun Voodoo Drop (Mike Tenay can't decide what it's called!) and there's the pin. After the match Kong gives Roxxi the Implant Buster.

Christy Hemme cuts a promo where she promises to TAKE OUT the Beautiful People with THE POWER OF PMS. I guess that's...a face turn?

Consequences Creed vs. Kevin Nash: Creed buzzes around like a gnat until Nash decides he's bored and SWATS him down. Cobra Clutch Toss, Jackknife, pin. So the cream of the X Division crop can't even begin to hold a candle to a doddering, 50-year-old, part-time wrestler. Why are they giving Creed shit like this? This is what Shark Boy's here for -- or, better yet, Kory Chavis.

Nash cuts a heel promo insulting the audience, and says that his actions against Joe were because Joe ran down Scott Hall ten months ago. Revenge is a dish best served lukewarm, I guess.

Matt Morgan vs. Kurt Angle: Jim Corette was tired of Angle runnin' wild and set up this match to teach Angle a lesson. The lesson that Kurt learns is "hey, I can beat Matt Morgan." Matt Morgan seems to have the upper hand -- he hits the Carbon Footprint for two, escapes an anklelock, hits the Catatonic for another two (both Tenay and West repeatedly call that the Hellevator, even saying "no one's kicked out of the Hellevator before!" -- come on, guys), but then Angle reverses an actual Hellevator attempt into an Angle Slam and that's it. Morgan looked pretty good although that slam was kinda weak and I thought he'd kick out.

Angle decides Morgan needs to be punished; Anklelock! But HERE COMES ABYSS (he's not even supposed to be here tonight!) in a...black silk shirt? And what may or may not be Beatle boots. lol wut

Angle rips the shirt off and Abyss is covered in bandages and burns and bruises -- and he catches an anklelock as well, and -- wait, suddenly we cut to Jeremy Borash on the outside! Jarrett and Foley are getting into a van -- Jarrett says "vote McCain!" and Foley says they're heading for Vegas. Wait, didn't Foley quit? Later for that -- Foley has an announcement NEXT WEEK that's going to ROCK the FOUNDATIONS of the wrestling world!

--K

P.S. Speaking of next week, it's LIVE from LAS VEGAS and here's what's scheduled (cut-n-paste from TNA's site) (card subject to change):

- In an X Division Championship match, it will be Sheik Abdul Bashir defending the gold against number-one contender "Black Machismo" Jay Lethal

- The Knocked (sic) Women's Championship will be on the line as Taylor Wilde faces her nemesis Awesome Kong

- Christy Hemme made the challenge to The Beautiful People to fight her on the live iMPACT! Which one of the Beautiful People will step into the ring against the vixen of The Rock N' Rave Infection? Tune in and find out! (My guess: Sky)

- It will be TNA World Tag Team Champions Beer Money vs. Team 3D vs. Matt Morgan & Abyss vs. LAX in a "Hard Rock Hardcore Tag Team Text-off Gauntlet" (text-off?!?!?)

I've said before that I despise the fans in the Impact Zone and their inability to boo heels. Last night, during this promo, the whole thing just became ridiculous when Nash ended up playing a game of How Heelishly Do I Need to Act Before You Will Boo Me? He starts out talking about how he basically spent the last year lying in wait for the right time to ambush Joe, someone who had trusted him as a friend. Fans cheer. Next he tries insulting the fans' intelligence (they are the "only ones dumber than Samoa Joe"). Fans cheer. Next he resorts to telling them that their wives are all wondering what it would be like to be "thrown around by a 7 foot monster." Still mostly cheers. Finally he gets boos when he tells them that they have small penises.

Seriously? I really fucking hate these people. I know someone's going to tell me that TNA didn't build up this feud right if people aren't booing/cheering the right wrestlers, but I just don't buy that at this point. Nash had a classic by-the-books heel turn, and people are still cheering him.

Anyway, the rest of the show. Having Foley come out for a "farewell" after being in the company for two weeks is stupid. I liked Matt Morgan when he started with TNA but he's lost some of his luster. I fast-forward through all the Booker stuff because of the stupid accent. Velvet Sky is super hot.

A classic by-the-books heel turn would be Nash hitting Joe with the bat.

A crappy, obvious heel turn would be for Nash to stop Sting from hitting Joe with the bat, and then hitting Joe with the bat himself. This sort of heel turn is known as a "obvious" heel turn, or "swerve". When everyone in the audience can figure out the turn, it makes Joe look foolish. When Nash talks about how dumb Joe is, everyone agrees. No one wants to support a fool.

Not sure if you are aware of it (you can't be, because you bitch about this every week), but at least half, maybe 75% of the people there are tourists on vacation looking to have a good time. Mouth of the South or Borash glad hand in the park to get attendance. The crowd, even if they are fringe wrestling fans, know people like Sting and Nash from WCW and are happy to see them. And there was nothing by the books about Nash's heel turn - unless that book is Russo's - which reads - swerve, double swerve, swerve the swerve and finally the classic swerve the swerve and then swerve. THEN swerve. Don't blame the fans - this show sucks

Anyway, the rest of the show. Having Foley come out for a "farewell" after being in the company for two weeks is stupid.

Now you're cooking

Is Impact no longer replayed on Spike? I've tried watching it the last two Saturday nights but it hasn't been on.

It has been replaying the last few weeks on Saturday morning at 9am eastern, which is when I DVR it, due to conflicts on Thursday night (The Office).

I would also assume that the last few UFC specials have caused the conflict, as the last two weeks were replays of past PPVs (to compete with EliteXC and the cancelled Affliction show); expect that to continue this week, with the free show from Great Britain.

It saddened me to hear that Christopher Daniels' was mentioned only for him to get attacked backstage with a bowl of Curry on his head. Not including LAX and MCMG in the TNA vs. ex-WWE guys is one thing but not including Daniels when he's on the roster is another whole level of stupid. I like Curry Man and all but at least let Daniels pull double duty or something.

You must be watching a different TNA than everybody else. There hasn't been any swerves in the Joe/Nash feud up until the final heel turn. There's a difference between a swerve and creating tension between two wrestlers, which is absolutely by the books, if you can't tell the difference between the two then it's no wonder you think the show sucks because you can't understand simple booking. The Nash/Joe angle has been the best booked feud of 2008 other than Jericho/Michaels, it's just been wasted on a 50 year old that can't wrestle.

I admit to not watching TNA, but didn't they tease this Nash turn a couple times previously, only to swerve it that Joe and Nash were still friends? Calling it the 'final' heel turn seems to conicide with that.

It's a bad idea in general to try and turn most anybody heel when they've been around as long as Nash has. People just don't want to boo a guy after a certain number of years entertaining them. Now, if it's happening with guys other than Nash, that goes to SentonBOMB's point, and fair enough. But otherwise, I think the principle is flawed.

Does it make for a better heel promo if all the *women* in the audience are screaming for "what it'd be like to spend the night with me." ? So tough to be a Bad Boy...

"I've got to go take a Kurt, & wipe my Angle." Oh, Mick.

That was a sad main event. Angle looks in great shape. His definition is superb. But the slow pace of every element makes it look more like a semblance of a wrestling show instead of an earnest competitor to the WWE.
