Well, I wasn't sure I would bother this week, but I discovered that if I FFWDed every time I saw Hulk Hogan I could get through the show in about half an hour. This will be pretty half-assed, at best, I'm afraid.

Ric Flair and AJ Styles come out with three chicks and talk about how awesome they are. Hogan comes out with Kurt Angle and makes a Styles/Angle rematch for tonight -- despite last Sunday's stip -- because he's the Hulkster and he does what he wants.

Hernandez and Matt Morgan vs. The British Invasion: Rob Terry brings his briefcase and Brutus Magnus uses it to accidentally hit Doug Williams, leading to the pin. More strife amongst the Invasion. Not much of a match. Mick Foley randomly waddles in and takes them all out with a chair.

Orlando Jordan vs. D'Angelo Dinero: Very short; Jordan wins with the Blackout (reverse STO) after going after the Pope's injured knee. Jordan looked...fair, I guess.

Here's a bunch of Bubba the Love Sponge, interviewing Jeff Jarrett. JJ is still taking legal action.

Bobby Lashley is in Bischoff's office and says that TNA is actually, truly, where he wants to be.

Madison Rayne vs. Angelina Love: Love wins with a Bicycle Kick in a minute or less, I think. The other Beautiful People attack afterward for the beatdown.

MORE Bubba the Love Sponge, with Scott Hall and Sean Waltman. FFWD.

Hogan evicts Hall and Waltman from the Impact Zone.

The Nasty Boys vs. Kevin Nash & Eric Young: Nash gets taken to the outside and Eric Young is simply a rag doll here -- he gets tossed around and I think he got one offensive move in the whole match. Pit Stop from Knobs, crappy pumphandle drop from Sags and that's the match.

Knobs looked like shit, and his face was only slightly less red than Brother Love's. Sags actually looked alright except for his crappy finisher.

Ken Anderson is out and heels it up while also mentioning that he's here because Hogan personally invited him. Hmm. Abyss sneaks in and makes some funny faces while Anderson badmouths him. Finally, he attacks and Anderson bails.

Kurt Angle vs. AJ Styles: Fine match -- nothing new, but there it was -- up until the end, when Styles reversed an anklelock into one of his own and the bell immediately rang even though Angle hadn't tapped. Hogan is out and Angle spits in his face, thinking he's responsible for the "screwjob." Tenay and Taz fall all over themselves about how "history is repeating itself." "Who needs Bret," indeed.

Eric Bischoff comes out with blood streaming down his face and tells Mick Foley that he's fired.

And we're out. This show sucked.

Why they would go there is just beyond me. I guess we all got so caught up on who the next wrestler to show up would be that we forgot which angle would be ripped off next. There's a million ways this company could have gone and they chose the dumbest route possible. I really thought it was going to take at least four to six months to get to this point, but TNA got us there in only three weeks. The Hogan/Nash fingure poke probably isn't far behind.

... but I guess now we have to watch to see how much worse it can get, right?

Add Cheerleader Melissa to the list of Knockouts leaving the company. The show is dealing with the aftermath with Genesis which is all right. I do miss wrestling on the show since everything seemed storyline centered. I do think the show is in a state of flux and will be til Lockdown where people who want to stay with Hogan if he is there or Hogan is going to walk. I don't think that the fans chanting "Thank You, Kurt" when he spit on Hogan is going to make him want to stay there.

Hogan is the new hard football coach replacing the popular coach who had a few good years, but is only winning half his games. Hogan is making massive changes to the team, benching stars and coming up with a game plan that does not fit what the fans want. His game plan, doesn't make sense to the fans or really anyone. He wants to cancel house shows. Thiis choice for expanding the product is not going to win over people. I don't see how you can expand the product when the fans you are currently showing the product to are telling you to "Fuck off." The fact that TNA has one of the best house shows in the US right now, by doing fan signings, taking pictures with the champ after the show and putting your top workers on the card to tear the house down. I think Hogan wants to have a full gate when they do house shows, but even WWE doesn't get a full gate for their shows. You might as well send them out even if it loses money, you can make a connection with fans that will keep them coming back and maybe bring friends with them next time. Hogan is going to be Lane Kiffen where he will stay here for a few months then bolt if WWE makes him an offer.

Well, I guess I am the viewer they were targeting. NOT that I liked it, but I had avoided TNA pretty much most of it's first 7 years, only catching a handful of shows, but now I tune in to see what Hogan and Bischoff will do.

I don't know if I am saying this right, but Hogan, Bischoff, "Syxx Pac" (I thought that was WCW, therefore WWE property)Hall, Nash and Bubbu just don't get that they are't cool anymore. (Not all of them were cool to begin with). I mean who else has wanted to slap the hell out of Nash every time he says "getting the band back together"? Seriously? You're using a catchphrase from a movie that's 30 years old?

Also, I am sick to death already of "who's in the limo!" every show. I am not impressed with Limos as much as the next guy I guess.

Also, in Florida, home of the Bikini, those three girls that came out with Flair/Styles were the best they can get?

Another Knockout it leaving? Gee, I wonder if they were basically told they'd be phased out. Kong needs to show up at the rumble and just squash half the dudes in the Rumble and then get attacked by Beth Pheonix.

I have always given TNA the benefit of the doubt, and tried not to ever get too upset about what they do because in the end, it's just a wrestling show. But rehashing Montreal?? At first, I thought maybe it was a parody to expose how WWE is stuck in the past. But then I realized it wasn't, and I just shook my head, and turned it off. I doubt that is the reaction they wanted.

I understand wanting to create some buzz, that's fine. But that's the best they could come up with???

Over the last few months I have become a big fan of Wolfe, Pope, and Hernandez. Plus I still dig AJ, Daniels, Joe, Angle, and even Anderson. So now I am torn. I want to see these guys, but the crap I have to weather to do so is quickly making it not worth it.

I caught the first half of the show and have mixed feelings.

OPENING SEGMENT
Heel AJ was fun. He and Flair didn't give the promo I was hoping for, but AJ has the right tone. Just needs to refine the gimmick ... but Kurt Angle, the guy with the best current promo skills, didn't say a word. Weak.

The ring change is a shock, even though I read the PPV recaps. TNA was immediately distinctive because of the ring. It suggested visually that the company was going to reconsider even the fundamentals ... but somehow the traditional ring suggests an established company. It looks more credible to these eyes that grew up on Mid-Atlantic Wrestling. I'm surprised ... but that ring looks SMALL. Also the space around the ring looks tiny. I don't think two guys can do any spots outside the ring unless they go to the ramp.

TAG MATCH:
Hernandez is a monster, and Morgan appears to have calmed down his energy enough to be cool. The spot where he scooped up an opponent, checked his imaginary watch while holding him at his side, and then dropping him was good ... but that match was way too short, especially with that kind of ending.

FOLEY AND BISCHOFF/HOGAN:
Nash and Foley look old. Suddenly, much, much older.

Hogan sitting behind a desk in his black gear looks ridiculous. Put on a suit, Hogan.

ORLANDO/DINERO:
The Pope has real potential, and a killer look ... and of course he loses to Jordan in weak fashion. Bah.

BUBBA/JARRETT:
I hate wacky radio.

What I saw involving the young crew was tantalizing. But the number of used-to-be's is startling.

Mister Anderson? Really? [/Miz]

If Kong shows up in WWE, I will ... well, I won't go so far as to say "eat my hat," but I'll take a few bites. They've already got a "monster" in Beth Phoenix, and if the WWE creative crew thinks Mickie Fricking James has a weight problem, I shudder to think what they'd do with Kong. As lotjx said, Japan or SHIMMER are probably more likely destinations for Kong.

So did they team up Nash and Young for the potential "Crosby, Stills..." jokes?

And man, did it take FOREVER for the British Invasion to set up the briefcase shot spot? That was some truly heroic ignoring by the ref.

Oh geez I had TOTALLY forgot about the Angle angle.

Not sure it was quite reliving Montreal, but was more of a "Hogan doesn't know what he's doing" sort of feel to it. But to have Kurt pace in the ring (through a commercial) and then NOT end the show that way was weak. But then again, Bischoff has to have (literally) the last word.

Speaking of him, and I already complained that he is a punk bitch earlier, but does anybody else find his "8th grade bully" shenanigans/lines embarrassing? I mean, REALLY? "is that a threat?" That's the best they could come up with?

I thought TNA would have a gradual decline, but was I wrong. It's going at light speed.

Weren't the 'E after Kong when TNA originally signed her? Raw doesn't have a monster heel Diva, and I think Mickie taking crap about her weight is because she is supposed to be the same skinny model-type as everyone else.

I don't think any of the WWE divas would have the balls (or should I say boobs?) to make fun of Kong's weight. Of course within 6 months they'd have her in a romance angle with Mark Henry, but she'd be a great monster heel diva.

You sir are the winner of 1 internet. You may claim your prize at member services.

Kong has been working SHIMMER almost since its inception. But it really isn't a destination for anyone as they run no more than 2-3 times per year. It serves more as a catch-all for the talented women who aren't currently working for Vince. TNA women have been appearing on there the whole time.

I thought we might get some allusion to Montreal at some point far down the line, but I didn't think we'd get such a blatant rehash and in such a quick timespan. I will ask, though. How much time IS left on Kurt's contract? I'd love nothing better than to see this shifty angle blow up in their faces by watching Kurt walk into the Rumble match.

What an abomination that Nasty Boys match was. The parts with Nash in particular, feel like they went in slow motion. And good lord, do the Nasties look fat.

Why try and give the Pope any kind of buildup, even having look good in a PPV loss against Wolfe, just to job him cleanly to Orlando Jordan? Oy!

No Hardy (which is looking more and more like an ill-advised one-and-done deal), no Joe, no Wolfe, no Daniels, no Beer Money. The whole night was pretty much fun with old folks and WWE rejects. What a waste.

I would think that she would get the same treatment as they gave Jazz, and if Lawler was calling the matches forget about it, you'd hear nothing about her work only how shes a big ugly broad.

The best part:

And then for the Finale we got the Montreal finish. Are you F’N kidding me? The most over done, bullshit finish in wrestling and we not only got it again, we got an exact carbon copy of it; all we needed was for Kurt to draw WWE in the air at the finish. This finish is so old and so stale it doesn’t draw heat it draws groans of disappointment. My first reaction to this (after my groan of disappointment) was: “Hey that reminds me, WWE is finally doing the conclusion to this 12 year old angle on RAW, I’ll have to be sure to watch that show on Monday!” On top of all that there were a ton of plot holes in this angle.

1) If Hebner was going to “Montreal” Kurt and screw him, why didn’t he do it when AJ had him in the Figure 4 Leg Lock earlier in the match?

2) Why did Kurt assume Hogan had anything to do with this? Hogan was the guy who gave him the second chance in the first place. If Hogan wasn’t on Kurt’s side he could have just stuck to the stipulation from the PPV and not given Kurt the opportunity of this match that he would then have to screw him out of later. This was so stupid.

3) How can anyone believe that Kurt is going to quit over this, like he threatened to do at the end of this show. Bobby Lashley has been trying to quit for weeks now but can’t because he is under contract. TNA has already established, on this very show, that guys can’t quit! Doesn’t anyone in TNA watch TNA? Maybe if they did the ratings would be better.

4) The Montreal finish makes no sense when the reigning champ is the one going over! Why bother conspiring with a ref, and fighting this whole match when you are the reigning champion? AJ could just get DQ’d, counted out; you name it, and still retain his title. The whole point of Montreal was that Shawn had to get a pin fall or submission on the existing champ in order to WIN the title. Doesn’t anyone pay attention to details anymore?

One of these two companies should hire Lance Storm to be their VP of Common Sense (™ Bill Simmons), because that is the kind of thing that should be fleshed out in a booking meeting.
