I know we're only 2 1/2 weeks into the new year, but I'm pretty sure that, in the "most baffling decision of 2007" category, nothing is going to beat the choice to have Kurt Angle take on AJ Styles and, in their first ever meeting -- with, I might add, no storyline and no buildup and no hype -- have Angle utterly dominate Styles and pin him decisively in a five-minutes-of-TV-time match.
I mean, seriously. Rushing the Joe/Angle feud is one thing (and something that I can find ways to defend) but pissing away Styles/Angle and burying your #1 poster boy since day 1 in the process -- I just don't get it.
Rest of the show was alright.
LAX vs. 3D was better than I expected, in that 3D didn't get the belts. Sure, Ray will take a hurracanrana from Homicide, but he sure as shit ain't gonna sell it.
Miss Jacqueline is now Miss Tennessee -- nice hat; the sash I could do without.
I can't wait for the Torborg/Hoyt match! Finally, The Demon will pass that torch!
It was pretty awesome when Sting realized that, since he knows Abyss's real name, he could just go and look up why Abyss was in jail. Maybe Sting should have done that BEFORE kidnapping James Mitchell and handcuffing him to a prison fence, 'cause I'm pretty sure he can be charged for something there.
Christian Cage has a "special consultant" to help him in his match against Kurt Angle -- someone who "thinks like" Angle, who "wrestles like" Angle, and who, with good reason, "doesn't like" Angle -- who could it be? Cage says he'll drop a clue later on -- I think that Tomko's dye job is a pretty big clue! (Although it'd be pretty cool if it turned out to be Terkay!)

The fans chanting "RVD" when Christian said he'd hired someone who thinks and wrestles like Angle was rather amusing.
The Dudleys have hit the wall in TNA, just like they did in WWE.
To those who say people wouldn't look; they wouldn't be interested; they're too complacent, indifferent and insulated, I can only reply: There is, in one reporter's opinion, considerable evidence against that contention. But even if they are right, what have they got to lose? Because if they are right, and this instrument is good for nothing but to entertain, amuse and insulate, then the tube is flickering now and we will soon see that the whole struggle is lost. This instrument can teach, it can illuminate; yes, and it can even inspire. But it can do so only to the extent that humans are determined to use it to those ends. Otherwise it is merely wires, and lights, in a box.-Edward R. Murrow
To waste a match like Angle/Styles just seems to me like they didn't know what to have as a main event. What a waste. TNA could really be something special but the last six months have been a mix of frustration and disappointment. Is it the curse of Spike TV? (that is the channel you guys over in the US of A get TNA on isn't it?)
I read somewhere that TNA is trying to get more viewers interested in their product by "giving away" dream matches (like Angle/Styles and Cage/Daniels next week) on TV and not on PPV! We will see if that works out.

Next weeks' TNA show is on Wednesday, by the way.
On a Sting related note, any ideas why he's reverted back to the horribly dated black & white outfit?
Sure the new jacket was tacky, but at least the new outfit was a step towards making him seem like more of a TNA guy rather than an old WCW guy just stopping by for a quick buck.

Come on now. Is giving way Kurt and AJ on free TV dumb? Yes. But I bet it will be far from the most baffling decision this year. Seriously, we've already seen a Rosie O'Donnell impersonator wrestle a Donald Trump impersonator this year.
I'm not sure about the whole give your dream matches on TV. Getting ratings is definitely important and they definitely want to please Spike who has been great to them so far. But, you're probably never going to make money unless you get better ppv buys and as far as I know the ppv buys haven't gotten better even though that was the strong part of their company. But if you really want to try the give away your dream matches on TV idea then at least build up to a match as big as Angle vs. AJ could've been.

Giving away the match on free TV with no build is dumb. The BAFFLING part is having Styles get squashed like a bug.
I know, we should see how it plays out -- maybe this will make perfect sense in a month or two -- but right now, crushing the golden boy -- especially during a match where he had nothing to do with the actual story -- just makes no sense.
Now, if Tomko and Cage caused Angle to be distracted and Styles got a sneaky pin on him, that could lead to something. The way it played out, though -- I just don't understand it at all.
Trump vs. Rosie is stupid, but at least it's apparently part of an ongoing storyline that's going somewhere. (Nowhere that I care to follow, but still.)

Hey... it has nothing to do with you, it's the business. Really, I mean, how many wrestlers die too young every year? Three? Four? Five? More? I was recently watching an old WWF match from '84. It was Andre and Hogan vs.
