Past vs Future, Movie Star vs Movie Star, Legend vs Soon-to-be Legend. These are how people are describing the most anticipated match in wrestling history of Rock vs Hogan, but what about their finishing moves? Hogan`s Immortal Legdrop vs Rock`s People`s Elbow.Neither known for their devastation but for their electricity.Which move is truly the most electrifying move in sports entertainment?

I wouldn't necessairly call Hogan's legdrop "electrifying", just classic. For my favorite of the two, I would have to go with the legdrop. It's so old its funnny, and thus great.

Has anyone been comparing this match to Hogan-The Giant at WM 3? Will Hogan "pass the torch" to the Rock and let him win? I think there are important differences though- Hogan had the belt and had not lost it yet (had he?) when he faced Andre. Rock has already had it and lost it more than once, I believe. Thus, Hogan was still relatively "fresh" into his classic reign while it seems the Rock has been a #1 wrestler for a longer, grittier span of time. In some ways, the careers of Stone Cold and the Rock remind me a lot of Flair and Rhodes in the old NWA, both of them going back and forth with the titles and feuds.

wow. tough choice. 2 of the 3 stupidest finishers in wrestling. maybe we can get Scotty 2 Hotty involved for a Triple Threat at Summer Slam. but i'm going to have to go with the Elbow. i mean, come on, any move performed without a pad is gonna hurt twice as bad. heh.

Well, if you REALLY want to compare finishing moves, you should compare the legdrop and the Rock Bottom. Rock hardly ever uses the elbow anymore.

I don't know about this, BucsFan. It seems to me that he's at least *tried* to pull off a People's Elbow in every match he's had...and on the 2/7/2002 episode of Smackdown!, he pinned Booker T. following the People's Elbow.

Here's CRZ's fine recap of the dramatic turn of events:

T consults his hand - it could be - it is - the breakdance spin back to his feet! Oops, took a bit too long - Rock calmly nips up and gives T the spinebuster. There goes the elbowpad - there goes the People's Elbow - there's the cover, leg is hooked - 1, 2, 3! (4:28)

The thing is, the spinebuster is the finish, it's the devistating manuver. We're supposed to believe that Rock could pin Booker after the Spinebuster (or more commonly, the Rock Bottom).

The People's Elbow is a flourish. It's Rock showing off how much better he is that he beat you so bad he has time to pull off a crappy looking elbow.

I can't remember a time when he did it that wasn't after some sort of "big move".

While I agree with your assessment, I was merely showing that Rocky used the People's Elbow, not making any kind of play or promote it as a finisher.

Although, since you brought it up, I think its pretty ridiculous that the (s)Pinebuster could knock out anyone for the length of time that it takes Rocky to do the People's Elbow. I know that is a common complaint, but I just wish the WWF would realize how stupid it is.

That "lighten up" was for CRZ by the way. If I wanna express myself EVERY day, then I will.Anyway, about this thread, I think some of you miss the point, I know the legdrop and elbow aren`t devastating, I said so at the beginning. What I mean is which one is the more stylish and better looking?

I can't remember a time when he did it that wasn't after some sort of "big move".

During his Nation days he just set up the move with a bodyslam and did it in the middle of the match. It wasn't until September of 98 that he started to hit the Rock Bottom and then finish with the People's Elbow. I was at the live show the first time he did it (It was in Wisconsin, to tie it in with another thread).

I don't remember when he started setting it up with the (s)pinebuster, but I think it wasn't until mid 1999 or so.

Oh yes I will, because I am EEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEVILLLLLLLLLLLL! Say it Funaki
(57 mumblings later) INDEED!

Anyway, let`s just drop this and stick to the topic at hand. Somebody mentioned earlier that the elbow will do more damage with the pad off, well if Hogan took his boot off and did the legdrop, he would do more damage as he would stink his opponents to death:=)

GO TO HELL! MAYBE U WILL MELT DOWN THERE MR FROSTY FREEZE, AND TAKE YOUR HOMO FRIEND JACKSON WITH YOU!

As for the hierarchy, ok I`ll admit it, some of my threads like the singing contest are pointless, but most of the others like the Kane moments and the commentator threads do really well. I was only doing the silly threads for laughs ya know, although I`m probably gonna get banned for the above outburst, but some guys on this forum just PISS ME OFF!So if u wanna diss me,ban me or whatever, then go right ahead.

I think Steph holding up the title on Smackdown could be great if they use logic and have her use it as an incentive to draw more stars away from RAW. "Want to become a World Champion? You can only do it as part of the Smackdown roster!"
