Took me about two hours to write the code...after a few weeks of non-coding thinking about the best way to implement it.

PLEASE NOTE WELL that anyone who posts an "I'm ignoring you" message or an "I'm SO happy that CRZ wrote the ignore function SO I CAN IGNORE YOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOU" will suddenly find that they are unable to ignore anybody.

If you find a bug, please do PM or IM me.

While you can currently ignore ANY user, it is not recommended that you place any of the admins on ignore.
After a while, the admins will take a look at how many and who is using and getting ignores and hopefully derive personal amusement.

That is all. As always, we thank some of you for your patronage of The Wienerboard™ brand message board - the message board full of WIENERS

And if you can't do that, then what's the point!?

Edit: Oh, and thanks for the new tag! I was feeling slightly older, but I'm better now.

Questions Zed:

1. Does it ignore the chosen user only in that particular thread or all over the board?

2. After you have ignored someone, will the visible threads automatically re-number or will you be able to tell that there is something you're skipping (1, 2, 3,5,7, 8,...)?

Board-wide.

Try it and see.

When you ignore someone, an option above their posts says "See this post". I'm guessing that means see that individual post w/o taking them off ignore, but when you click on the link the post does not appear. You get the same screen you used to when you click on a thread where the posts were all deleted.

It will only temporarily ignore ONE post at a time, so all the other posts by users you're ignoring in that same thread will stay ignored. I checked the logs - you picked a thread that had multiple posts by the person you chose to ignore...is it possible that maybe you looked at the first post by that user by mistake, instead of the post you had clicked on to temporarily unignore?

(I went through the logs and duplicated what you did and it worked fine for me.)

Just two quick questions:

1. Did you decide to go with the idea of banning those who get a certain number of 'ignores' automatically?

2. Will folks know who is ignoring them?

I understand what you're saying. It works fine. I was doing it incorrectly.

Could we get updates on who is ignored the most?

...I'm just curious as to where I stand on said list.

Isn't it possible that this will lead to threads where several people mention something, but they can't see it because they are ignoring each other?

I hope someone sees this post and can respond to it...

Odds are that if that many people are being ignored, they won't all be agreeing on the same thing!

PS - Thanks, CRZ!

This is actually why I am toying with the idea of the auto-ban. If enough people are not seeing what someone is saying, then they really are not a contributing member of the board.

I'm trying to figure out the best way to do this and still keep it useful. Perhaps I will just look through the user table manually for a while to see if there is anyone who needs to be dealt with.

Hey, believe it or not, this is actually LESS big brother like than the thing ~I~ wanted to implement originally
