The Insane Clown Posse announced today that they would be headed to NWA:TNA next week. Here is the posting from their official website, www.insaneclownposse.com:

"Hey all of you Juggalos and Juggalettes, we know that all of you out there are huge into the murderous mayhem that happens every day in the squared circle of sports entertainment. I'm talking about wrestling; hard knocks, power slams, high flying suicide flips... the works! We know all of you are into it because we see you on the TV, reppin' the hatchet at every show, at every venue... espescially on NWA-TNA! We see you all on NWA-TNA every week and the time for watching you show the Hatchet Family love on TV is over... it's time to take part in it! To be there, in person, with all of those Juggalos and Juggalettes that are crazy down with the madcap action that we all love so much. So, on Wednesday the 21st, every Juggalo wrestling fan in the Nashville, Tennessee area will definately want to get to the NWA-TNA Pay-per-View Event at the Asylum to take part in the biggest Psychopathic Tailgating Party that ever existed! Violent J, Shaggy 2 Dope, and the Rude Boy are all going to be heading on down to the Tennessee State Fairgrounds early for the event, and they want all of the Hatchet Family to be there with them! Bring all your drinks and snacks; the Insane Clown Posse and the Rude Boy are bringing theirs, as well as a few shirts they'll be tossing out to the homies that want to take part in this mini-gathering of wrestling fanatics! As I said, the time for watching is over... come on down on the 21st of this month and hang with ICP, the Rude Boy, and all of your homies, get your snacks on, take a few photos, and have a blast way before the madness and the mayhem of the Pay-per-View even starts! It's going to be insane!"

Oh great ...

They don't really say whether or not they're a part of the broadcast or just gathering for a tailgate party. It may not be anything bigger than they did at Hardcore Heaven where they got beaten up by Sabu and RVD before the show itself started.

Rude Boy can bleed BUCKETS, yo.

Promotions can't seem to say "NO" to these two clowns (no pun intended). Let's hope their airtime (if any) is kept to a bare minimum.

ICP can actually put on a decent match, if allowed to, something the WWE and WCW never gave them a chance to do. The JCW match I saw them wrestle in live was a 6 man tag that went 15 or 20 minutes and was straight up wrestling, not hardcore crap. They're certainly not technical masters, by any stretch of the imagination, but they're certainly better than some of the people who have prominent spots in TNA or WWE today.

And if all they're doing is having a tailgate party before the show, I'd still recommend checking it out. Having gotten wasted with ICP in a parking lot before, I can vouch that there's definitely a good time to be had.

Of course, this is their first wrestling appearance since coming out as a full on Christian Rock band, so who knows what might happen this time around.

Definitely add me to the list of people who claim to be a fan of ICP in the ring. Not only that, but I thought their last WCW run was extremely entertaining... from the Cruiserweight title matches to the Dead Pool with Vampiro stuff.

I'll never forget the pop they got in like Iowa of all places. Goldberg MAY have gotten a bigger one, but no one else did that night.

Yeah, way down with the clown over here. Too bad thanks to the antics of their fans the term "juggalo" has about as much respect attached to it as "furry" does these days.

Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa--WHAT? Did I miss something?? I'm gonna pretend I didn't see that...

I do like ICP - as a band AND wrestling personalities. I will admit that it's an acquired taste, as I'm about the only person I know that does. Mebbe one or two more, tops. But when I need good, dumb, entertainment, there they are - the live action musical equivalent of Beavis and Butthead.

This sounds like all they're doing is showing up and throwing a tailgate party. Nothing big. Although personally, I'd love to see them table Johnny Fairplay while they're there.

my only memory of them in WCW was SHaggy 2 Dope being powerbombed by THAT 70S GUY Mike Awesome on top of a bus, and sliding off the side, looking quite dead, and Awesome trying to catch him before he got to the edge.

It's true. They'd always said on the "sixth card" all the mysteries would be revealed, and the big secret was for all the lyrics about necrophelia and murder they were secretly spreading the word of God to those who would not otherwise listen.

If nothing else, by doing so they lay claim to being the first musicians to ever sing a hymn that included the lyrics "Suck my nuts, bitch... fuck you".

(scratches his head)

Are you sure that bit was serious? When I saw it, it seemed to be a supreme fuck-you to people that were holding their breath for that...

EDIT: Hunh. Now it makes sense. Read an interview, the lyrics for that last song... it's more along the lines of them being grown-ass men. Looking around and seeing what they've got... I don't buy them being Christian, though.

Blech. I put up with a lot from TNA, but this has the potential to push me over the edge.

I won't mind if they show up and get slaughtered by AMW, for instance (and that little guy takes a good beating, I'll give 'im that).

I'm just worried that TNA sees ICP signs in the crowd and decides to bring them in as mega-faces.

Eh, I'll wait and see.

What were they thinking? ICP are backyard wrestlers at best (and I do mean best) -- what could they possibly add to TNA in terms of star power, credibility, workrate, etc?

Having seen ICP wrestle up close and personal, I can assure you that they're far more than backyard wrestlers. As I already said in this thread, they might not be great, but they're better than several people in the big leagues.

And perhaps TNA is thinking (not that TNA is necessarily thinking at all, since there's been no word from TNA on the matter) that here are a couple of guys with some experience in the business and a built in fanbase that spends a shitload of money on their merchandise already, and would likely order the TNA PPVs just to see them.

Okay, I'll take your word for it. Everything I've seen of them in WWF, WCW, etc. has been just awful, and especially with all the backstage stuff you read on the 'Net. Maybe they're better than I give credit for. I just have yet to see it....

Huh. Well I'll be damned (no pun intended) - that would have been the LAST thing I expected from the 6th Joker's Card...

I can see bringing them in. They have prior experience and a pretty big built-in fanbase, quite a few of which would gladly shuck out $10 a week to see their favorite face-painted clowns. Obviously they're not the best workers in the world, but but I've seen an awful lot worse.

Wait a minute this is good it makes TNA's product base larger and give them more publicity which give TNA a chance of kicking Vince's ass

Well he would be a breath of fresh air for the cruiserweights, but come on...if he's being brought back by Triple H then he's going to RAW. He'll be the same Grease Rat from 98 that they want him to be.
